I've finally decided to contemplate an upgrade. I've been using my current device for awhile and I'm craving more clouds (is that a thing?) I currently have a 20w iStick (Yeah I know!) I want something more powerful. I have a kangertech aerotank with a protank dual coil I built reading at 1.4 ohms. I was considering a kanger subbox, mainly because I'm looking for about 40w-60w of power (nothing really much more then that).
I am considering the SubBox, but the batteries is the only thing that's stopping me so far, if I do get it, I don't have a charger for the batteries, would it be possible to charge the 18650 through the micro usb charging on it or should I get a proper charger for it? Surely the box should be okay with the micro usb charging so long as I keep an eye on it

Edit; forgot to mention, what type of battery would be best for this? and where can I purchase them?
I found these:
$9.52 Authentic LG LGDBHE4 18650 3.7V 2500mAh Rechargeable Li-Ion Batteries (2-Pack) - continuous discharge: 20A at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
(I'll most likely be buying the subbox from fasttech too so I'd like to have them delivered same time - It's not nice having your mod first and no batteries to run it LOL- or even vice versa, it's torture) They are 20A (I think, not sure), and there's two of them, listed as authentic, with protective case (which is a must) I'm in need of your help here guys :) Also, are they protected cells? 100% need protected cells!

No cell is 100% protected. Any cell can be shorted and vented.
I use mostly HE4s. Great batts. You will be happy with your subbox. It's a foolproof unit.
Ever since I saw it, I've been going "Sexy, stylish, powerful" now it's just a matter of finding the right cells. I understand that cells can be shorted, is there a way I can mitigate shorts as much as possible? I don't really plan on dipping the cells into a bath of steelwool anytime soon, and I'm pretty careful with polarity. Will HE4s be suitable for the subbox? are they 'protected' cells?
Curious if anyone could help me pickout a battery from this list; 336 Batteries (Battery Form Factor: 18650) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping would prefer authentic :p

he4's should be fine. i personally prefer sony vtc4/vtc5's, but that's just my preference.

yes, you should get a dedicated charger. battery safety is the most important safety aspect in vaping; it's not worth saving a few bucks over. my preference in chargers is the nitecore intellicharger.

you definitely want to buy both the charger and the batteries from a trusted source (not fasttech). there are a lot of knock-offs out there, and as i said above, it's not worth risking your safety over. i'd recommend rtd vapor, they have good prices and fast delivery.

Fasttech is normally telling the truth when they list their items as authentic, as far as I've seen :)
Also, rtd vapor is a US company, im from the UK

Have you considered the innokin Disruptor? It will run to 50 watts and the batt cells for it seem to have a good life. All innokin devices I have owned have been very reliable. Just a thought.
I did a quick bit of research and they use LiPo batteries, not really a big fan of those..

Edit: they seem to be some different kind of LiPo, as far as my knowledge goes with LiPos, is that if you do anything with them other then leave them still is that they explode lol.
The innokin disruptor looks sexy as hell. I would easily prefer than over the subbox when it comes to looks, I'm just a bit iffy when it's down to this battery safety.

Just me, but i would never buy a battery off FT, i dont care how authentic they say it is. Pretty sure i remember reading a post on here that said they also take a loooong time to ship batteries. Something about batteries clearing customs or something. Not 100% sure on that but just something to think about.

Ah, yes, shipping overseas from the US would make it a little more difficult (and quite a bit more expensive...).

I don't believe that Fasttech would ever intentionally try to deceive consumers, but with all the products they sell, I've heard they sometimes get a listing wrong, or they themselves sometimes get deceived by one of their suppliers. I think this tends to happen more often when the batteries are included as part of a complete mod kit.

That being said, I know a lot of people do buy batteries from Fasttech and never have a problem, and I'm sure most of the batteries they sell as authentic are authentic, but I'm personally willing to pay a little more money for the extra factor of safety. Mod safety begins with battery safety, and my stance is you can never be too careful.
