I don't think people posting in the New Members area should be asking such a question till they have a little more miles under their belt. Maybe it's just me.

A few questions for you. How many "miles" does this person have under their belt? And how many "miles" is appropriate? And then again wouldn't that be pigeonholing a person without taking their learning rate into consideration as well as 200+ other factors?

I thought that this forum was about sharing information.

My answer to the OP: it depends on the device. A clearomizer, 32 ga A1 Kanthal with some sort of silica wick, size dependent on the device. I've use 1 mm silica on Novas and CE5s. For rda, 2 or 2.5 mm silica wick with either 30 or 32 ga A1 Kanthal. For RBAs, either 400 or 500 mesh depending on my mood and 28 or 30 ga wire. And I'm trying other "stuff" also as the budget allows.

I for one, post in the new members area because - I am a new member. Thats not to say I dont know what I am doing. I am simply new to these forums. Most of my knowledge has been gained through you tube.
To answer the OP I use 400 mesh w/ 32 awg kanthal. Never had a problem. Havent ventured far from what I know....if it ain't broke dont fix it.

To phoneguy, I personally was an experienced Vaper before I even found the ECF. I personally spent almost six months totally on my own and was discouraged and near ready to go back to smoking when I did finally stumble in here. I give credit where it is due, the support and assistance with equipment tricks and mods that I personally got from others here allowed me the freedom to stay away from cigarettes. The post count should not deter anyone from asking any question. Your tone in your post could stop someone from asking a question that will keep them smoking.

To Gimmeclouds, I don't always use a genesis atomizer, but when I do..... I typically prefer 500 mesh, rolled solid tight ,with a double twist of 32ga Kanthal 5/6 turns right around 1.2Ω running at 5.3volts......

i prefer 325 mesh and 30 kanthal, its a personal preference, with my own liquids being thicker then OFC liquids i found 400 didnt wick as well,i started with 32 kanthal but found it was either to low or to high ohm's with my wraps,i tried 30 and found a happy medium for my taste, you just have to experiment till you find the combo you prefer

If you guys don't mind me asking this question here, what are the differences for the mesh and wire?
I know it has to do with resistances so smaller = lower?
And what kind of juices are best for what kind of mesh and wire??

it mostly comes down to personal preference, resistance of wire and number of wraps you prefer for wire, mesh size as far as ive experienced controls wicking rate, thinner juices work in smaller mesh ie. 400,while the thicker juices 325 or 250

well this started off heading towards the trash can real fast.
30 or 32 on xc-116 ceramic is nice for me.
same on 400 ss is good too.
i still don't understand why some here have to have a superiority complex. why does typing on a keyboard give you experience in the aerodynamics or physics of vaping. i guess i never will understand that. i wasn't stupid before i came to ecf. does it take a 1000 posts to prove it. who cares.
xc-116 is greatness.
and i still use silica too. go figure.
let's make it real complicated.
use whatever tastes the best. doodahdoodahdayooo

I use 325 or 400 on a genesis. I have been curious to 500, but don't really see a point to it. I'm normally in sub ohms using 26/28 gauge kanthal or twisted coil using 28/32 and I need juice wicking quickly, so I use thick hollow wicks. I haven't seen a difference in wicking between 325 and 400, so I'm hesitant on if 500 will actually make a difference.

Yep, I may be an ECF Veteran, but I don't know jack about building coils :D I doubt I'd ever try to rebuild a clearo, but I just got an RSST and was wondering the same thing as the OP. I'm just too chicken to try it (yet)

Gaining knowledge should not limited to the initiated. As is relative to everything else, asking, discovering, and seeking for more knowledge should be encouraged.
