I'm off topic. I kinda assumed this was British the first time I got a notification here. It's a lot similar to another forum I am a member of, the notification, ratings and tabs etc. And that one I know is British. I wonder if that's software related or just a lot of dudes from that region likes this layout, or same web host.

Oliver Kershaw, the founder and owner of this forum, in English and still lives in London, at least most of the time.

Now that we've derailed into the US and now UK can someone fill me in on whether the UK is leaving the EU or not? The parliamentary votes have me all confused.

In the US when there's disagreement between congress and the president we just shut the whole thing down and order out to Wendy's for White House functions.

Watch the TV show called "Alone

I did watch the show I had to stop when the guy who was catching all these fish and like got situational induced anorexia and would not eat the smoked fish because he was "saving them" and they had to cart him out of there as he was yelling "I can eat more fish! Let me eat more fish!"

He would have won if he had eaten more fish but that was a bit too voyeuristic even for me.

When I had a 5 day fast in my misspent youth, I had a very vivid Doritos dream on day 4. We were supposed to share our dreams, I guess mine was too vivid because later I heard a lot of folks had broken their fast... with Doritos :thumbs:

It doesn't take so long to miss processed foods.

Speaking of which, has anyone ever given any thought as to what we inhale when we spray that stuff all over that enclosed room?
A buddy of mine made a similar comment about "New Car Smell" air freshener..

My understanding is the most common ingredients come from rare endangered tropical wood barks. Not that that’s necessarily any better.
    Good for headaches maybe?

We raised up our pet calves, lambs and piglets and then slaughtered and butchered them, stuck em in the freezer and then ate them.

Doubtful. The whole willow bark thing is willow bark contains aspirin. Whether a given type of tree has a particular chemical in it is highly varied. In any case they’re rendering the bark for just one chemical that probably isn’t aspirin, so even if a raw extract contained aspirin it probably won’t after they’re finished refining it.

Aspirin is now syntheticaly manufactured and no longer extracted, although it was for many years. There was a chemotherapy drug called Taxol that could only he extracted from the Pacific Yew tree, and the chemistry was extremely complex so it took them a decade or more to finally be able to manufacture it. That was a big deal as it was very effective but the tree was endangered. Now there is no reliance on the tree.

New drugs or classes of drugs are frequently found in nature. There has been particular concern about the loss of rain forests as they're still barely explored and it's quite possible something truly useful will be gone before it's become known. Let's face it, most all drugs started out as natural chemicals in nature. The Foxglove plant have us digitalis, still used to this day for certain heart disorders to atropine derived from the nightshade family of plants that's used for everything from slowing the heart rate, dilate pupils, and even an antidote to nerve gas poisoning.

We do ourselves a real disservice when we ignore the fact there's lots of useful stuff in nature and there's likely way more than has already been found.
