Hello people, I am using a Ballistixx pen which I got as a starter kit.

I bought a new liquid for it yesterday (apple) but was pretty annoyed because I couldn't taste anything, though I was getting a decent amount of vapour.

Later on I could start to taste something and it was absolutely rancid. I looked at my pen and seen that the liquid had turnt from a golden brown to almost pure black.

I found out that it was also inside the heating part (don't know what it's called), so I tried to clear it out.

I was at it for about an hour, but every time I thought I was done, it was like the heating was just creating more of this dark, stinking liquid.

I'm actually worried that this is because of a leaking battery or something, so I'm not even attempting to use it just now until I have some sort of clarity of what's going on

When you heat e-liquid or expose it to light, it is normal for it to darken. In regards to lack of taste, it is possible that you have vaper's fatigue where you're taste buds are naturally beginning to repair. To aid you through the process, use different flavors frequently. As your taste buds repair, things will taste differently. It is possible that you may longer like the flavor. Also, the coil may need to be changed.

Could you expand on that? Repairing from what?

End of line.

It is highly unlikely that the battery is leaking into the tank, as there isn't a direct pathway from the battery to the tank in an ego-type vape pen. More likely what happened is you burned the wick/coil somehow, possibly when changing flavors, and now that burned wick is leeching out into whatever liquid is in the tank. Swap out the coil head and clean the tank thoroughly.

Dump, disassemble, and clean you tank. Replace the coil head. Dry the tank and refill with juice. Allow the tank sit for ~10 minutes. Before you begin vaping, take 4-5 dry puffs (non-firing) then take short normal puffs (1-2 seconds, firing) until vapor produced. You should be good-to-go from here. Good Luck

I agree with Less and EB. It sounds like you need to clean your juice holder. When I am not sure what an individual is using I usually just call it either a juice holder or a topper. The coil (heating element) is the disposable part of vaping. They only last a short time when using flavored liquid. The sweeter the liquid, the quicker the coil will need to be either replaced or rebuilt.

A burnt, gunked up coil can and does cause your liquid to get quite dark and can taste very bad. I am sure there is no need to be concerned about your battery leaching into your topper. Stick around here and we will get you fixed up.
