What to do with a Art Deco era smoking stand when you quit analogs...

Turn it into a mod of course. This was a collaboration built by a friend of mine. I have several of these art deco smoking stands and when I quit smoking I tried to figure out what to do with them. One was turned into this mod. The main hose is a straight 5 volt feeding off a AC power supply...no batteries here. The are also 4 usb ports for pass throughs when I have company. They are feed from a 2amp dc power supply. The base is lit with internal LEDs and every thing is controlled with a single on/off switch in the base. Plenty of room for juice and carts in the old ashtray and cigarette compartments. It now sits between the theater seats in front of the 60 inch tv for movies nights...

Lovely, I can imagine the chillaxing going on around it.

Did you have to alter the original structure of it? It'd be a shame to decrease it's value, but it is getting a new life.

The old wiring and switch were completely shot so it was completely rewired, permanent structural changes were a a hole for the main hose and a couple small screw holes you can't see for the usb ports

I did a quick and dirty knot job on a little 808 passthrough to use as an additional hose on the usb ports on the back...looks pretty good and works great.

Not quite so art deco, but at least it isn't pink and orange

I'm curious, what features did this have originally? ashtray, trays, and a lamp??

originally 2 ashtrays (the rounds), cigarette box (the diamond shape) and a electric lighter. I am currently fitting the lighter with LEDS just for looks...

These show up on ebay quite often, one that has all the parts is normally pretty pricey but most have lost the ashtray and storage lids, these go much cheaper.
