I just started making juice and even came up with my own recipes last night. I'm happier this way vs pre-mix.

My question is this; do I need to stock upon flavorings and VG or just nicotine?
Flavorings and VG are used pretty widely outside of vaping but the nicotine in VG solution is pretty much exclusive to us right?
I can get several years of nic pretty easily and probably the VG too but I'm a man of limited means and I'd rather not buy 30-40 4oz bottles of flavoring if they will still be available after August 8th.

I almost put this in the FDA page...if it belongs there, I'm sorry. =)
And thanks for all the help guys. You make it feel like the "overclock.net" for vaping.

VG and PG seem to be safe. Flavoring will still be available, but it might be a little harder to find. It presumably won't be available from vape suppliers where flavors are listed for that purpose. We will have to buy from regular flavoring suppliers and figure out for ourselves which ones are suitable for vaping. They might not list them as being free of diketones since that is really only of interest to vapers.

Capella and The Flavor Apprentice both sell their products on their own websites, even if they cost a little more so that should be ok.

VG is pretty easy to get.

So we're down to the nicotine.
I'd like to get some nude nic to toss in the freezer...I read the nicotine storage sticky which seems to verify that you can buy a big bottle and split it up in to smaller glass bottles and pull them from hibernation as needed.

I'll stock up on wick, clapton wire and nicotine. Anything else I'm missing?

I think the most important thing to have on the list is how many years you expect a stockpile to last and that should drive all the other decisions. I go with 10 years but my actual stockpile might go longer if everything works better than expected.

There are three things that are specialized for vaping, nicotine, atomizers, and mods plus some spare parts and materials. My goal is to have a 10 year supply of those plus some redundancy in case something doesn't last as long as planned. Then if everything works better than planned may the the stash will last half again or twice as long. I expect to need more VG, PG, flavoring, cotton, and batteries along the way. If my preferred flavor disappears there will be others. No battery usable for vaping willl store for more than a few years. PG, VG and cotton are generic. A barebones 10 year stash for me, starting from nothing, is about $500. Add some redundancy and the cost goes up a few hundred more. If the worst doesn't happen everything will be consumed except may be the mods because newer better ones would be coming along and I always end up using my favorite, whatever that happens to be. I expect to buy a few mods beyond the stockpiled ones in the next few years if they are available and I'll top off the nic in 2 years if that's still possible.

After 8-8 new products are going to appear on offshore websites. Vapers in the US will order them, they will be shipped and arrive at customs. Will they pass through or be intercepted? This forum will be the place to find out.

The only flavorings that will most likely be difficult or impossible to get down the road will be those related to tobacco flavors (ie. Ry4 and similar). At least that's what I've been told by several flavoring vendors/suppliers in phone conversations with them.

Now how am I supposed to make my super duper RY4 cookie squares? :grr:

Seriously though, vendors like Liquid Barn might have some problems as well. Since their flavors are designed for vaping, I'm guessing they will have to rebrand or comply. Well, try to comply.

What batteries are only made for vaping? The LG, Sony, Panasonic, Sanyo and Samsung 18650s aren't tailored for us. If you mean the Efest, IMREN and the many other rewraps, that's ok. Wouldn't own any of their batteries anyway.

I just ordered a back up mod for me and my wife and 2 sets of LGs.
Next week or two I'm going to try to stock up on wire, nic and maybe some VG and flavoring.

I don't think I said any batteries are specialized for vaping.
please explain,i am curious
I got interested in batteries because of notebook computers and paid some more attention to the subject to get more use out of smartphones. One of the things I was consistently reading was the chemistry of a rechargable battery never goes entirely dormant so even a battery that's doing nothing is fading. RC modelers keep their batteries living longer in storage by running them down to 40% then storing in a cool place for the off season. I seem to recall some use refrigeration, not freezing, to slow down battery decline. I'm also aware there are batteries that can hold a useful charge for many years but the ones I know about aren't rechargable. I use a keychain camera as a helmet camera. The battery doesn't run very many minutes a year but seems to die every few years never the less. I try to treat batteries as perishables meaning don't have more of them around than actually needed. That about exhausts my knowledge and experience on the topic.

I'd definitely concentrate on spending any available money on stocking up on Nic now. The wire, the VG, and flavorings will still be available later since they're all used in/for other things. (Tobacco flavorings though, if you use those, I'd buy some ahead, and start trying out other flavorings to possibly replace them longterm.)

I know of several well-known online websites that are definitely planning on still offering their flavorings longterm (other than tobacco ones). They're just revising their websites to remove any wording or reference to vaping, eliquids, etc. Since most flavorings have been used for baking, candy-making, etc., for many many years (way before there even was such a thing as vaping), they'll still be readily available.

VG and PG are also used for many other purposes than vaping (in desserts, frostings, lotions, soap, in producing fake smoke or fog, etc.)...so no problem there either with getting them longterm!

have a boatload of 18650s/350s/500s........have read differing methods of long term storage , thanks sofarsogood
Properly stored battery will lose 2% of it capacity in the first year:
How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries - Battery University
I cannot find anything about second year... Guess nobody was interested in long-term testing.
If I wanted to store a battery I would charge it to 40-50% and put it in a refrigerator. May be check it once a year to see if it needs some additional charging.

I have 3 LG HG2 3,000 mah batteries and 2 2,500 mah batteries. One of the 2500 mah batteries is in a flashlight the second is in reserve. Two of the HG2's are in a Pico and a VTC mini and the third is in reserve. I recharge the the batteries in the mods on board but I have a stand alone charger. It's very rare that I need to swap out a battery. I can see no contingency where I need any more batteries than that. When one of them shows noticably less endurance it will get moved to reserve for the rare times I need to carry a spare battery. I never go above 30 watts and rarely run a battery down near the cutoff voltage. A reasonably fresh HG2 will get me through a day if necessary.

Specifically the Lightning 316l clapton wire...I thought clapton was exclusive for us. 3 rolls (75') is less than $40 shipped and nude nic sells 500ml of 100mg for around $50...at 30ml a day between me and my wife, plus what I have now is a 2 year supply at 3mg or 4 at 1.5mg.
I'm fine with spending about $200 between now and 8/8.
I plan on getting a box of rayon too.
