My first mech mod was the origin. Bought it at the local B&M along with the aqua atomizer. Both were $100. I should've done more research. Not happy with the locking ring. It unscrews the firing pin as you turn it. It is a pain in my ..... Also seems to get too hot and I have to use 2 fingers or more to fire it. Have since bought a nemesis clone and stingray clone. I like both of these better than the authentic origin. Live and learn I guess ;-)

my first was the Hcigar nemie clone, first Authentic was the Stingray Black copper. Have several clones and several authentic. The Real deal is usually always best, and my preference, but decent clones are hard to resist also. If just trying it out, get a clone, my nemi clone still remains in the line up, and provides a great vape.

Whatever you buy, it probably won't be the last, so might as well get an authentic and start the collection off right, of course this is assuming that you already are a competent builder and have great battery knowledge and safety handling techniques all down and learned.

Like the title says, what was your first mod, did you buy a clone or a legit one to start?

I bought a Nemesis clone and a clone dripper. I wasn't about to shell out $300 for something that I may not be interested in. I've found that I am, and buy both.

Would you recommend buying the legit mods over some of the 1;1 clones for beginners?

That's your call. It depends on your budget.

Keep in mind with an original, odds are you should be able to get most of your money back out of it should you choose to list it in the classifieds.

Somewhere out there
First was a K100 that I used with a kick and a pro tank. I still use it on the rare occasion that I want to use the protank.

I went through 4 more clones before I found The One for me, the FT brass Paps clone. I like it so much I got one in all three sizes. Kayfun w/ nano tank on the little one, Origen and Magma on the other two.

Very happy now, but if the Kato design appears in an 18500 clone I may get one.

I just ordered a 4 Nine clone on ebay. Its cheap at about $23 bucks. Should get it in a few days. Researched it a bit, and I like the compact smaller size. I will be running a 18650 battery in it. Also researched ohms law to see how low of a resistance coil an 18650 can handle. Not interested in getting into sub ohm yet, but will probably venture that way over time. This will be my first mech. My all day every day is an Itaste VTR w/ ring cut/ground off and a Russian 91% tank. I may have to buy a dripper for the mech because I've never tried one of those yet either. lol. :vapor:
