Yes I was talking more about taste and evenness of vape flavor. I was not really posting on start-up times or battery limitations. The more you can evenly distribute wire heat over a mesh surface to reach vaporization, the smoother and truer to flavor the vape can be. IMO The time to get your coil/wick surface to temp will increase and is a limitation and trade-off. So if you want "instant-on" 11 wraps of 28g is not gonna cut-it. I am more in your range of coil wraps for better startup time. 11 wraps was a big PITA to do, but when it got up to temp, it was a very nice chain vape experience .

Another thought here is that experience also depends upon your juice type too.. right? tobacco flavors can do real well with more concentrated heat. The edgyness of a lower ohm 34g wire can actually enhance the flavor. If you using something a bit less complex and softer, it may just taste burnt on the same set-up....

Hope that helped clarify.

Yes...now it makes sense....thanks for the clarification. When I tried out the 28 gauge wire I only had a good time with the ten wrap set up when I was chain vaping it....otherwise it was way too unresponsive for me. Your right...I only vape tobacco flavors, so I don't know anything about other sweeter flavors and how they vape. Maybe my set up would make fruity sweeter flavors taste burnt.

I'm a wattage guy so don't worry about the voltage..

I typically get a coil between 1.8 and 2.4 and vape around 10w. For me it's volume and warmth and it's the bee's knees :)

That's about where I'm at. I use 32awg kanthal A1. I shoot for around 2.0 to 2.4 ohms. Between 9 and 11 watts.

Hi guys,

I am just using my first RA which is the Cobra, migrating from carto and silica wick. At first i used my typical sweet spot of 8.0w and found that the flavor and vapor is not like what i expected. An advise from a member here and i bumped up my wattage to around 12 and i got the result i wanted.

What wattage do you guys normally vape on your ss wick RA?

My wattage is at 12.0 and thought that was too high. I don't think I'll ever get the vape I want with a harder draw than kanger protank, lighter draw than iclear30, NO juice in the mouth, long battery life, clouds of vapor. I don't know how to build RBA and I shake too much to attempt it.

like mentioned a couple of pages back, my average wattage is about 12 to 13 but I also have a genny set-up at much higher wattage. I find the need at different times for higher wattages and this is why a mechanical mod for me is a must, its nice to have the option of a 0.7Ω coil for wattages in the 18 to 20 range.
