Long story short, I went up to 24mg to get off cigarettes completely. Dropped naturally down to 12mg-9mg because the nic kept becoming to much. From there I worked slowly down to 0mg without any real problems and stayed there for months.Curiosity finally got the better of me and tried 1mg, nothing. 2mg, nothing. 3mg, holy crab cakes it was a new day in paradise! Turned out some of the physical (blood pressure through the roof) and psychological (very slight depression/irritability) were caused, at least in part, from the no nic.

Went to zero because I wanted to prove to myself that I could shake the stranglehold nicotine had on me. Well, guess what, water does to. I have for more serious health consequences from not using nic than using it. After 43 years, I was finally able to quit smoking and did so for the purpose of living and that's exactly what I'm going to do. Perhaps insurance companies should charge a tobacco fee for anyone eating those veggies or taking B-12, niacin.

Interesting Read! A lot of great responses...
I've been "mostly" 0 nic for several months now, but I do bounce to 3-6 mg nic on occasion. I never intended to drop from my original starting point of 24mg when I started vaping nearly 2 years ago, nor do I intend to quit vaping altogether should I stick to 0 nic. I love everything about vaping and unless someone finds indisputable evidence vaping is a serious health risk, I'm in it for the long haul.
My parents didn't raise no quitter... :D

Oops, yeah, I don't plan on quitting either. I may forget to vape for a while but if vaping somehow vanished off the face of the earth, I'm pretty sure I'd eventually go back to smoking. It's not something that's comfortable to admit, but knowing me, that's where I'd wind up eventually.

Our we support to go down? When I first started I figured on snapping a Foos stick in half one day and not looking back. But got in deeper with to much money into it now and having fun with it. Having fun with nicotine, haven't seen that day since I was 14.

"OUR"? Dang it! You guys are too nice!

Well, like others, I started at 24mg, then within a few months, I switched to 18 without a hitch.. going from 18 to 12 was somewhat of a challenge, but I eventaully got there. Then I ordered 12 mg high pg, and mix with VG. 50/50, it cut the flavor and nic in half, but the slightly muted flavor actually made it easier to vape alltogether. Now, I still buy the 12, but I cut one 12mg 30 ml bottle into two 50ml bottle. I haven't thought about what level it's at, but it's less than .6. Probably .4ish.

And do I plan to quit? Well, I don't have plans to quit totally. I'm enjoying the flavor too much. It's cut down on the sweets I eat.

Also, another side benifit that I keep saying, but I don't know if it's true, but I haven't gotten sick since I started vaping. Right now, my family has some stomache flu going around.. vomiting and diarhea, etc.... I am the only one (knock on wood) that hasn't gotten sick. This also happened last year around flu season.. I was the only one out of us that never got sick.... When I smoked, I usually was the last to get "affected", but I always caught what others have had.

I wonder if vaping has anything to do with it.

I went down from 24 mg to 18 and now to 12. Now that I have a sense of taste and smell again, I find that nicotine in higher concentations can screw up some flavors of e-juice. No plans to go zero nic now or ever. Nicotine and caffeine are my not-so-guilty pleasures and I plan on ingesting both of 'em until I drop.

Gonna be pretty busy, huh.

Yeah, but mostly because they are short which makes them harder to find. The upside is you can just put some of that rodent sticky paper around the outside of their lair and blow a circus air horn (midgets are naturally drawn to the sound of a circus air horn) and when they run out, they get caught up in it. I can get about a dozen of them in my Mini Cooper so they are economical to transport.

Quick update of my experiment.

So last night i was hanging out with my buddy and dripping his 3mg juice and chain vaping for almost 2 hours. Took me about 15 min to get used to the scratchy throat from Nicotine, but after that it was smooth sailing. At some point i almost got a tiny buzz, and entire time i was in a much better mood then i have been in months. So im guessing Nicotine does elevate a persons mood. Plus it goes well with coffee.

The downside; I couldnt really taste the juice flavor, and the next morning my mouth felt like i smoked a couple of cigs.

I bought my starter kit on a whim November 10 after several of my friends traded in their smoking habit for vaping. Smoked one cig on November 11. When I got up that morning I just had to have one. Didn't finish it and haven't had another one. Started with 12mg of nictoine and I'm down to 3mg. I want to get down to 0mg because I will save big bucks on my health insurance if I can pass a nicotine blood test. But I have found I really like vaping so I don't know if I will stop. I'm happy to be a non smoker and if I can kick the nicotine I'll be richer and happier!
