Genesis: Kanthal A-1 32 awg seems to be the most widely used. Also 30 awg.

For Ody and Penelope: Resistance wire = Nichrome/Kanthal 32, 34, 36 gauge seems to be used quite often.

No resistance wire = nickel or silver 30 gauge.

Wick for Genesis style attys = SS mesh 400 and 325.

Wick for Odysseus and Penelope = Wick from COV seems to be the most recommended.

I'm new to the rba world, but I've picked up a little bit of all the wires mentioned, and am waiting for clouds of vapor to re-stock the wick.

What kind of atty do you have/plan to get?

Kanthal withstands higher temperatures and is somewhat more sturdy / forgiving, i.e. will not "pop" as easy when dry burned / glowed red. This is useful, especially for the Genesis-type atties.

Some people say that Kanthal "tastes" better than Nichrome. I don't know, but others with more experience might chime in.

I'm a bit of newb but I thought it was nichrome that had higher temperatures, but I agree on the taste part, when going through the forums there seemed to be more that liked kanthal in regards to taste. It was hard to tell though. I wonder if the question which taste better Kanthal vs Nichrome would generate enough responses in a poll to give a worthy result?

Lets put it up! What resistance wire tastes best? Kanthal, Nichrome, ... should we put up any other wire? Dont' know the others. The poll should just consider taste because the heating can be looked up and proven. What are the common resistance wires people use?
