I put some Easy-Off oven cleaner in a dropper and dropped a single (maybe 2) drops onto the coil of my HH357 atty to help clean off the carbon build up, let it sit for only a few minutes, if that. Then steam cleaned the entire atty?

Ive done a lot with Easy-Off in the past, as long as you dont let it dry up, it works well for what it is. I think this could be a good way to "bring the life" back to an under performing atty. As long as the coil isnt separated, I think it should work well.

What do you think?

(I plan on trying it on one of my HH357s when it starts acting up, but so far so good!)

Im surprised I dont read more about steam cleaning on this forum. Ive steam cleaned my cartos, HH357 and REO many times now and am always perfectly satisfied with the results. The oven cleaner is just a way to get the coil cleaner, followed by a steam clean, which would remove the oven cleaner.

I've been steam cleaning my vape stuff for over a year now ..... you can't beat the power of steam.

I agree, I love how easily and quickly it removes all the gunk in the atty. Plus it dries much faster afterwards. Only thing it may not remove is tough carbon on coils, this is where my oven cleaner idea comes in. This of course will be followed by another steam clean to remove oven cleaner.

Then again, this oven cleaner idea is just my untested theory as of now. I plan on trying on my 1.5 HH357 before I use it with my fav juice tomorrow to see if I can tell any difference. If it doesn't work, Ill still keep on steam cleaning:)

I have used the steam stem of my espresso machine to clean them but I've also tortured them and broken the wire inside doing this so the steam is too powerful for atty cleaning....I guess a more delicate machine might be something to consider.

Hmm, steam shouldnt be hot enough to melt solder, but it may have had a weak connection and the pressure blast from the steam broke it free. Ive full blasted my 357 now a few time and the results were great every time.
