I would build a new house, nothing extravagant, but nice with all new stuff. My current house was built in 1850. It would be so nice to not have to fix anything for a change. Nothing wrong with dreaming...
I'd set some aside for my daughters Education then my family and I would travel the world. Anything left would be invested toward the future.
Payoff the house, build a new motorcycle, buy wife a car and find my dad a cherry '66 GTO w/389 tri-power and bank the rest.

definately not food.... when my dad came back from vietnam, he bought a new 66 GTO w/4 barrel... 3 months later he totalled it and bought another 66 GTO this time with tri-power ... i have been hearing about those cars for my entire life and would love to buy him one
Honestly, I'd give it away. A thousand bucks to a thousand people! Why? Because too much money makes good people turn bad/greedy and bad people? Well, they just get even worse.

Ardent: Have you ever read any Spider Robinson?
In one of his books he handled the "problem" of having a sudden influx of money a similar way. Go to a collage and ask to see the scholarship applications for whatever tradespeople you may need: Say doctors/lawyers/etc. Pay these peoples collage education in return for reduced/loyal care from them in the future. An amazing Idea that I've always thought about trying myself someday.
