What would you do if vaping becomes banned in your area?

It's a funny coincidence that this thread popped up just now. I've been pondering this very "doomsday scenario" and I almost started a thread about it myself.

I've concluded that the only thing that could be a real problem would be getting the nicotine. They can't ban the other ingredients in juice and even if they banned the hardware, a reasonably handy person could build a crude PV from scratch. It might look like some sort of cobbled-together Frankenstein apparatus but it would work. I like to design and build electronic gadgets (in fact, it's part of my job) so ban or no ban, I might do that someday just for fun.

Excessive regulation and taxation would definitely be motivators for DIY, not just an outright ban. Look at the RYO (Roll Your Own) cigarette community. I was a part of it until very recently.

I know I'd probably spend a few grand on juices just in case.

Not sure. I quite for 2 years cold turkey so I guess I could survive. I don't know that they'd get rid of the industry but like many have said; it'll be regulated and taxed beyond what we have now. With China willing to mass produce and a great deal of mods coming from other countries, I'm sure it won't be completely shut down.

It would probably be wise to stock-up in the meantime...

There is no doubt in my mind that the complete control of nicotine liquid will be given to the pharmaceutical companies and the tobacco companies very soon. They will battle it out to see who eventually controls the vape market and the pharmaceuticals (having more lawyers and owning more politicians) will win. Either way, prices will skyrocket and it will cost more to vape than to smoke analogs. You may even have to get a prescription to buy the hardware. The only reasons analogs are still legal is that they generate a bunch of tax revenue and they also provide a big chunk of change for the pharmaceuticals peddling patches, pills, and snake oil that doesn't even work. And then there is all that money that smokers pour into the health care industry when they start getting their cancers, heart problems, respiratory issues. Yup, I see a future of legal analogs and illegal or prohibitively expensive vaping. Of course the irony of it all is that vaping is saving hndreds of thousands of lives or at least prolonging them. When capitalism and politics climb into bed together, freedom is just a dream.

Guess I'll do like you guys and start stockpiling nic juice and equipment spares. Hard not to get really steamed. OK, I'm off my soap box now..... for awhile.

You're spot on. Gov and corporations are only out for the profit. What happens to us is irrelevant as long as profits aren't harmed. Just look at Nestle for one of a billion examples.

I see that 500 ml (100mg nic) bottle of PG from Wizard costing $570.00 instead of the current $57.00. That will wipe out an awful lot of small suppliers.

Again, look at the history of the RYO cigarette movement for a preview of what could happen to us. I'll never forget when the price of a can or pouch of cig tobacco shot into the stratosphere seemingly overnight, all due to punitive taxes. For those of you who are old enough, do you remember those cans of Bugler, Prince Albert, etc. you used to see in every drugstore, supermarket, etc. for a couple of bucks each? You would plotz if you knew what they cost now, especially here in the Empire $tate.

Ex coffin nail smoker for an entire month! It's a start. Continuing pipe smoker. Been cellaring pipe tobacco for a couple of years, probably have more than 50 pounds in my stash. Prices will never go down, taxes will never go down, but brands will disappear, sources (internet) may get closed down. Smoked Camels for forty years. Then the state doubled their tax per pack to $2.00, add on Fed tax of $1.00, plus six percent sales tax equaled $3.18 of taxes before you even bought anything. Bite me! Went RYO. Make a carton of smokes for $10.00. Pound of tobacco about $15.00. Then the Feds added $26.00 per pound of tax on RYO tobacco. RYO manufacturers relabeled their tobacco as "pipe tobacco" so they wouldn't go out of business. Now the Feds want to add that $26.00/lb tax to all "loose tobacco". Tried vaping for health reasons, never had any luck on quitting cigarettes, even when pipe smoking. Vaping is helping me immensely. The governments haven't figured out how they'll tax vaping but they will. They aren't going to lose their taxes! Add in the 'flavors' of the liquid. The anti's will be jumping all over the "It's for the kids!" propaganda and specifically aim at this aspect. Rumors going around about them/the government wanting to ban menthol cigarettes for example. I would prepare for the worst and figure ways of taking care of yourself in the future because we are all second class criminals using something "they" don't like!
