A guy I work with is a vaper. I take partial credit for his conversion actually. But, he's telling me that lately he's been supplementing with cigarettes. I responded that it's not unusual for people to do that, especially at first.

The thing is, he's vaping 36mg juice (I am too), and he's wanting HIGHER nic. In talking, I revealed that I have 100mg, but over 36mg is really too strong and that higher is really meant only for mixing. Even though he could find it if he bothered to look, I refused to give him 100mg.

He handed me a 5ml bottle and asked me to bring him 5ml of 50mg unflavored juice so he could spike his 36mg juice. I mixed his bottle tonight ... 50mg unflavored.

I have read where other people vape 48mg. But, isn't that really extreme?

I feel like a drug dealer. If he likes it ... I'll tell him to go find his own, I guess.

Would you provide this unresourceful guy with the 50mg? What would you say to him?

I certainly wouldn't take the chance. I started with some 36mg Dekang & quickly switched to 30mg juices. The 36mg juice was way more than I could handle, and I was a heavy smoker for over 55 years. I'm now, after 6 months, down to 18mg juice and have no cravings for analogs. I can't imagine anyone vaping anything higher than 36mg, or even needing it. I know this doesn't solve your problem, but I just thought any input might be a help to you. I hope things work out OK for you and your friend.

Yes and I think i've read somewhere that it could be dangerous, but he would also have to deal with high concentration of nicotine every day. I don't think he would like to wear gloves to refill his cartridge...
I think I would print the first message of this topic and leave it on his desk: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/1783-read-first.html

Ditto on what jj said. However, I can understand that sometimes nic alone just doesn't cut it. Some people need more. I would refer him to ECF and have him check out the thread "What's under your lip?"

Instead of upping the nic levels, maybe he could supplement with snus. Or maybe, it might be the juice he has. I stopped with Dekang. When I started smoking again, I went back to Dekang. For some reason, it's the only juice right now that has helped. When I do quit again, I will return to DIY and Pre-mixed juice.

If you really want to help him, try to problem solve with him. What is it that he's missing? There are other alternatives to vaping higher and higher levels of nic.

banjo:: My smoking background ... a carton per week (1.5PAD) for 35+ years. I'm still doing 30-36mg juice after 11 months of vaping. I didn't start that high. But, found it took that level to curb my cravings, and haven't yet cut down.

I consider cutting down, eventually, to be a worthy goal though. The guy in question is 20 years younger than I am, and a Mormon with 6 kids. I mention Mormon and kids because they seem to be relevant.

Anyway, I tried to reason with him regarding the nic level. One thing which makes me feel better is the spike/dilution factor. Spiking 36mg juice with 50mg unflavored ... would take a Lot of the spike to make a significant difference.

For example: If he mixed in a 1:1 ration the 36mg he has on hand with the 50mg, the resulting strength would be 43mg. Too potent, for certain, but at worst it might show him it is unnecessarily strong, right? I believe that what he has in mind is adding a few drops to a 5ml quantity, which would be a minuscule increase in the resultant's mg level.

He already knows I don't approve ... so, it will be very easy to deny further requests.

But, the thread's title remains unanswered.

I almost get the feeling from him that nicotine is the answer. I thought it was the problem myself. As I said to him today, it doesn't get you high, why do you want to become MORE addicted than you already are? He gave me the dead fish stare.

NCC if you don't feel comfortable doing it then you shouldn't. I have a gallon of 48mg and I will occassionaly mix it with flavoring and vape it straight although most of the time I mix it down to around 28mg. After adding 15% flavoring it still ends up around 41mg, not in the dangerous range, as long as your not drinking it. that is still only 4.1% nic.

However, like I said if you don't feel comfortable you shouldn't do it. I would just let him know that you feel it could be dangerous and that you don't feel comfortable giving him a potentially dangerous level of nic. I know I wouldn't feel comforatabel giving him 100mg at 10% I would worry about it too.

@316lvm: Yeah, yes, absolutely, to all of your comments. He is smoking cigarettes. He wants to cut that out though, and I understand that. I started out at 18mg, and had to up it to 36 to curb my cravings. I haven't cut down yet, although that would be a goal, I'm not overly concerned with it. I'm pleased as punch for the moment that I'm not smoking.

I will suggest snus to him tomorrow. Thank you.

Worst case scenerio=the increase in nicotine will put him to sleep. Nicotine in large amounts if truely absorbed could act as a depressant. I know when I have had to much I get sleepy/tired/stomach cramps. I don't have a link but if one will google nicotine one could find information related to this. I was a pad smoker and I have to do 24 to 36mg and I really do allot of chain vaping. I feel that I do not absorb the molecules as others do. So maybe this guy has a different metabolic absorbtion rate? Who knows? I personally would tell him no. However, tell him he could order some on the internet.

I don't know if I helped but just my opinion...

if IM NOT TOO LATE JUST GIVE HIM 2MG OF NIC AND SAY ITS 50MG. THIS WAY HE GONNA THINK HE SPIKED HIS JUICE AND HE WILL CONVINCE HIMSELF AND MAYBE IT HELPS. ITS JUST LIKE THAT STUDY WHEN TO TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE GAVE PILLS ONE HAD REAL THING AND ANOTHER JUST SUGAR PILLS AND BOTH OF THEM GOT HEALTHY.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Mix it way down and tell him that it's 50mg. Obviously he is dead set on getting this from you. If you don't want him to have, just say no! If he gets mad, tell him to buy his own online but I would try tricking him first. It would be a good laugh if anything. Especially if it works.

I Think* that a lot of the time this folk who think they need these extremely high levels of Nic...especially when they are still smoking on an off. Are really still addicted to one of the Other chemicals in Cigs that arnt in e-liquid. So upping the nic will never get him what it is that he is craving.

He's going to have to get off the cigs, and get over whatever it is.
