Cartomizers have a cartridge for storing juice, and an atomizer for heating the juice and producing vapor, all built into one piece. These are usually meant to be refilled a few times and thrown away.

Atomizers are simply the parts of a system that produce the vapor. Usually a cylinder with a heating coil, and some sort of bridge that can optionally make contact with an independent cartridge that holds juice. So, atomizers are either combined with an extra cartridge part, some sort of juice tank, or dripped directly upon.

To me: TH is slightly improved through cartomizers; however, for the separate atomizer-carto or direct dripping setup, it can depend on how you pack carts, the juice you use, and the type of atomizer.

It's hard to say that one system is better or worse than the other. Cartomizers are less of a mess to me, but it's probably best to try some of both and form your own opinion.

Just a few links to some popular cartomizer designs/brands...no vendor preference or best pricing here, I'm just posting what pops up first in searches...trying to go with manufacture sites where possible. Most vendors will carry at least one of these types if not all...if they don't say the brand you can ask them

Polyfill types:
Boge
Wholesale Disposable Atomizer/Cartomizer boge 510D Electronic Cigarette, Disposable Atomizer/Cartomizer boge 510D Electronic Cigarette Suppliers,Disposable Atomizer/Cartomizer boge 510D Electronic Cigarette Manufacturer

Bloog (808 threads...needs adapter for 510)
Electronic Cigarette Cartomizers

Kanger
No link, but they make pretty good cartos for the 808 threads, maybe for 510 as well...needs an adapter to use with 510

SmokTech
Smoktech Electronic Cigarette Manufacturer China|E-Liquid|Disposable Electronic Cigarette|E-Cigarettes|E-Cigs|Electronic Cigarettes

CE2 Type (also sold at gotvapes.com as Fluxomizer)
GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

T Type (Vortex at gotvapes.com) (Kanger?) Haven't seen in 510 yet, so need adapter if you're not using KR808 batteries.
GotVapes VORTEX 808 Bottom Coil Clearomizer - 1.2ml 2.7ohm 5PK [gotvapes-808vortex-2.7ohm] - $12.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

No doubt there are other cartomizer brands and types! Joye has their own brand...I can't keep up with them all, but this gives you some idea of what they look like and do :)

Credo's right.

I use both Boge cartomizers and atomizers + cartridges (with the blue foam mod). I marginally prefer the atomizer+cart combo for taste, th, and vapor, but I love the convenience of cartomizers.

I've found that some juices (thicker ones) don't work well in cartomizers, and so for them I use the cartridges.

Cartridge aka cart is a push-on plastic and stuffing piece that pushes onto the atomizer of a 3-piece ecig

Cartomizer is screw-on disposable combined atomizer+cart and if kept dmp you make get 4-14 days use out of one depending on the quality of the carto and how heavily you vape it

Neither gives more TH imo. TH is nicotine, and can be increased by heat, and dulled by VG. With a slim ecig you can only use standard resistance attys or cartos so you can't really change the TH heatwise

On fat battery models and mods you can use attys and cartos that are lower resistance versus the voltage and get more heat that way. On 3.4-3.7v fat model or mods that would be with "low resistance" aka LR attys and cartos of various ohms. With a high voltage mod that would be with standard resistance attys and cartos vs HV ones.

An atomizer is a made up of two parts, The atomizer and the cart. Inside the Atomizer is a metal mesh, thats the bridge under the bridge is the resevoir under that is the coil. So that cart has the "cotton" that you fill with liquid. When you place the cart up against the Atomizer the bridge inside the Atomizer butts up against the filler inside the cart that helps wick the liquid down into the coil that makes the vaper. There are so many different ones out there the most popular being the 510, 901, and the 801The 510 is the most popular IMO and the 510 gives a very warm vapor that gives off a greath throat hit. The 901 is less TH but great flavour.
A Cartomizer is both in one. Inside a Carto is that "cotton" spiraled around the sides, in the middles is the coil. So when you fill a Carto you just take the rubber cap off the .... and just drip around the edges until its full. Pop the rubber cap and screw it in and vape! The Carto comes in empty or pre-filled. These are very easy to use and extremely popular among most vaporers, and when it dies you just toss it. The Carto's come in vary ohms as well, usually labeled HR (high resistant) Or LR (low resistant) HR's last longer then LR's but LR's give an amazing vapor and add to the overall throat hit.
There are so many different types of both Atomizers and Cartomizer. Most people when they try the Carto's never go back to Attys, but thats all personal preference.
Hope this helps a little. I dint want to get way into each one so a quick explanation.
