So I purchased a bunch of new liquids from MBV (and looking to purchase more from other vendors) and want to try the flavors without having to waste a bunch of juice and cartomizers. I assume its not recommended to reuse cartomizers when you want to switch flavors so I thought I explore dripping. How does 510 dripping atomizers work? Do you have to clean out the atomizer everytime you want to switch flavors? How do you clean out a atomizer?

I have a Protank 2 and I know I can simply drop a little bit of liquid in there and test the flavors that way, but thought I explore other options. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have an RDA on a mech mod and I switch flavors all day and you don't waste juice. I put about 5 drops get 6 hits out of depending on how long of a drag I take. If u keep hitting it you'll get a burnt taste or you can dry burn it holding the button a few seconds at a time. Mine is at the bottom or u can just take a lighter and burn off the taste. ..well this is how my group does it

The Ocelot has a great blog post on dripping. It explains a lot and is very helpful http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/the-ocelot/4005-drip-drip-drip-sound-dripping.html
The dripping thread has a lot of info too http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...405910-regular-atty-drippers-dying-breed.html
I suggest checking out both links. I've found dripping relaxing in addition to a great way to try new juice.

I read Ocelot's blog and it did help me understand a lot. I guess I am still confused what the difference is between a cartomizer and a atomizer. They look the same.

I guess I am talking about just a regular 510 atomizer. I dont plan on using rebuildables just yet. I am not that far advance in this whole vaping thing. Just want to be able to test out flavors as I am still trying to find ones that I really like, but without wasting liquid.

A cartomizer contains an atomizer, but it is surrounded by a filler material that you saturate with eliquid. As you vape it the eliquid works its way toward the atomizer and when the filler material is dry you simply refill it.

A dripping atomizer is basically just a coil that you drip directly on. You can only vape it a few times before you need to add more liquid, unlike cartomizers which last much, much longer before a refill is needed. The benefit of a dripper is that when you are tired of the flavor you are vaping or you want to try something else you can simply blow out the small amount of liquid that is in it and drip a different flavor right away. Cartomizers take some effort to clean.

Got it! Thank you so much for explaining.

When switching up liquids, is it ok to just blow out the excess liquid and start dripping the next? Or does it need to be soaked in hot water/vodka and wait to dry before using it again? If I just blew out the old flavor and switched to a new one, wouldnt the first few draws taste weird with the new liquid? (ex: going from coffee to pear)

It really depends on the flavor that you are switching from. Usually I just blow mine out, then twist up a paper towel and slide it into the atomizer and let it sit for a while so any excess is soaked up, then drip again with a new flavor. Sometimes, however, a really strong flavor may hang around for a little while. In that case I usually drop my dripping atty in a glass of the cheapest 80 proof vodka I can find and let it sit overnight and that takes care of it. Some people are fine with soaking in hot water, some people just dry burn it before switching flavors, but that's what works for me.

I'd recommend buying two of whatever atty you decide to buy so if you do need to soak one for a while you have another that you can use in the meantime. Plus the atomizers will die eventually, and it would be wise to have a backup.
