That's a very pretty (is that the right term?) guitar, Hitt!

Ok, so I am annoyed. I checked in Northerner's website under the pre order snus and the Merry Christmas is available for preorder but only to all countries EXCEPT the U.S. How exactly is that fair (or profitable for them)??? I can't find it under any other snus seller website. Suggestions anyone??

Sounds like you guys should get together for a jam session!
BCB, glad things are looking up for you! We just had to have rotor rooter out to clear our line. Water was backing up into the basement when I'd take a shower. My hubby insisted it was because I took too long of showers...Um, ya, maybe so but it still shouldn't do that. SO, he decided he would take a plunger and fix it. I all but hung on his leg to try to get him to NOT do that. Oh no, he did it anyway, and guess what? As well as plunging up water, we had nasty chunks in our basement as well. Nice job honey! Anyway, paid the prof's the next day to do their thing and all is well. You'd think my dh would figure out one day that plumbing is not his thing. Having water spurting out of our kitchen sink hitting the ceiling apparently wasn't enough of a hint for him last year (when he ignored my suggestion that maybe he should turn the water off before he attempted to fix the sink). I couldn't help laughing hysterically when it happened, but it WAS funny. Luckily we live in a fairly old house and there is no real damaging it at this point. It is well broken in.

I was looking around at the landscaping yesterday, Gutter and it looks like I'll be doing some replanting in the spring too. The front seems to have held up ok, but a couple of rhododendrons in the back look like they've had it. I wish we'd get two or three days of this rain.

sorry.. i feel your pain.
I planted 6x5foot arbor vitae this last spring.Let's just say it was not the right summer to try to get huge evergreens started. They're cooked.

Good evening. Like a ghost town around here. If OTD were here he could rattle his bones and give me a scare.

Evenin'/mornin' all :). Looks like I missed the party again. Got to work at 5:00pm and a half hour later had to work :(. Tomorrow morning I have to attend Chemical and Hazard Communication refreshers before I leave, so it's gonna be a 15-16 hour day. I swear if I didn't get paid for this stuff I wouldn't even be here......

TV, I think you've dodged a bullet by missing that heavy metal tour bus. Seems you are planted right where you are meant to be (with Mama and the little twisters)....

and with all of us

Thanks Hellen, I agree :). I met Chris Homes and a bunch of other nameables several years ago when my band spent 9 months in LA. Most were good people, regardless of the dog-eat-dog stories, but it's a way of life that's not really living. I used to think that's what I wanted, but I'm glad I didn't get it :).

I feel like I am missing alot of the knowledge and theory end of it but don't know if that would help me play better. I think that maybe I will never be a great player but it sure is a fun hobby.

As long as it's fun then you're doing it right. I approached music like a fat man in a donut shop. 4 hours every night after school, weekends centered around it, missed work for it...a voracious appetite to practice and play for years. Then I grew up (about 6 years ago) and finally figured out there was more important things. 2 1/2 years ago I played a bunch of Hair Band covers at my oldest sons wedding (and he likes Hendrix, too) and had the best time. I had a lotta fun raising hell in the olden days, but there's something more solid and fulfilling when I just pluck along for the family's contentment. The fever's long gone and I rarely play so I've lost my edge, but when I do we have some fun and then put it back in the box. Now, if you wanna impress the neighbors, 3 powerchords will play anything AC/DC. If they're too sophisticated for that, Stairway To Heaven is a great beginners bluff :2cool:.

I'm with you man. i couldn't teach my way out of a paper bag. Alot of people have the "theory kills creativity" voodoo and i somehow picked up that school of thought over the years.I guess looking at it from an artistic standpoint, that it would be true that if you know what is "right" that you wouldn't be as likely to venture into "wrong" territory and would be more apt to lead with your left brain. It sure would be nice to know what i'm doing sometimes though :)

I like to think guys like us blow through the "road closed" barriers 'cause we didn't know any better :headbang:.

If y'all want rain, you can have ours. It has done nothing but rain here for weeks. My lawn squishes when I walk on it. The other half is out in his bow stand, getting rained on as I type this.

What's he huntin' for? Gators??? :w00t:

Sorry if my virus spread to other computers and respiratory tracts. Be glad your septic is working, that's all I've got to say.

Much better, thanks. Are septic problems contagious :|?

(when he ignored my suggestion.........).

As a lifetime member of the Manly Men Club For Guys, I have to come to his defense. After all, he is doing what we do best......

Oh, and please accept my apology W, but I have to cancel Saturday night. My wife says I can't date girls with violins until I've finished the Honey-Do list. So what do ya have going on when I'm around 93?

Feeling sorta like I'd rather have root-canal instead of work with:

Good morning everyone. TV, it seemed like when I was taking lessons that when I was trying to learn a song that I would get part way thru learning it and would either hit a part that I couldn't get down right or lost interest and would just move on to the next thing. Even though I haven't been taking lessons for a while now, I still have bits and pieces of songs stuck in my head but don't really remember all of any one. I don't think I had the drive that you did to learn it. When I first started, I would practice for an hour or so at a time but don't ever remember doing four hours. That is one thing that I have heard from other good players is that they spent the time like you did learning. I guess at the rate that I practice that I should be half way decent by the time you have that date at 93. Would you care for some dinner music then?

Typical, TV, just typical. "musician cancels on violin nerd" ...the story of my life ;)

Since it is raining and I didn't want to get out of habit, I unfolded the treadmill and did three miles. I really hate my treadmill. It is not calibrated correctly (for real, it isn't. I know how long it takes me to run a mile and this thing is CRAZY!) so it makes me feel bad about myself. I estimate that it is 15-20% off so I actually probably ran closer to 3.6 miles. I know it is not accurate, but I can't quite bring myself to just ignore the numbers either. I wish it would just break already so I can buy a new and possibly accurate one. The upside to it is that when I get back to running outside after running inside for several months on this dumb thing, I really KICK ....! Here's to an early spring!

nothing yet, but looking forward to a thunder

Firechick you could pick up a pedometer and clip it to your waist. I got my wife one when she was walking a lot. I think it was a bell brand one and if I remember correctly it was about $20. I was lucky in that I picked up mine cheap. A friend at work was selling it. The original receipt was in the owners manual and he paid almost $1000 for it. I gave him $300 for it and later ordered a new belt and some parts to make it like new. I still have less than half the original cost invested. I probably wouldn't have that nice of one if I didn't get a deal on it. The one I had before was a piece of junk and hurt to run on.

Evenin' all :). We're having the greatest weather, cloudy but dry and 71 degrees. How much better could outdoor napping get :).

Just blow right on through it without hesitation and your good. I used to do that if I was singing a cover and didn't know all the words. And it's even better if the crowd is already drunk :p.

For real, W. I've got you down for the first Saturday after I turn 93. Just remind me who you are so that pesky Alzheimer's doesn't muck things up too much.

All this music, exercise, and home improvement going on around here, someone might think we're trying to make this side of the tracks presentable... I know better though. ;)

Nothing to report today other than I seem to be holding my own against a nasty little stomach bug that woke me up in the middle of the night last night. No more shivering and I can manage to eat toast! It's a big win.

Evening TV. I try but I feel stupid if I miss a part. That is more stupid than normal. I've never been a big John Mayer fan but I heard this song he did called " who did you think I was" that has a cool feel to it. I watched some videos in YouTube and am starting to pick it up. It usually takes me a while to learn something new.

Allco, I wonder if there's a bug going around. My daughter was having stomach issues yesterday. My only stomach issue is that its always bigger than I want it to be. Glad you're feeling better.

Hey hit, going through the headlines and saw this:

    Convicted murderer, 2 others, escape Mo. jail - U.S. news - Crime & courts - msnbc.com

PATTONSBURG, Mo. — Three inmates, including a convicted murderer, escaped from a northwest Missouri jail by crawling under a fence, leading authorities to lock down the surrounding community's school and to go door-to-door warning residents.

The inmates remained at large Monday after making their break Sunday night from the Daviess/DeKalb County jail in Pattonsburg wearing orange prison jumpsuits and no shoes, authorities said. Daviess County Sheriff Ben Becerra said Monday afternoon that they were thought to have split up and left the area.

Evening all. I caught you TV, drifting over to the other side of the tracks. After reading the story on nicotine as treatment for Alzheimers, I decided to forgo my normal 4 portion a day habit and decided to increase my daily consumption to five cans.

Okay, I'm out of the closet since everyone seems intent on this musical thread. I might as well come forward with my history. They had this music program back in fifth grade I think and I ended up with a french horn (father loved them). That lasted until junior high when I managed to use my braces as an excuse to give it up. I hated sitting there for minutes at a time waiting to play a few notes, plus even TV's hair wouldn't make playing a french horn cool.

Then I took piano lessons for a few years (no need to drag that along to school, hehe) and got decent at it but sports always got in the way of practice so that went away until I was married and in my own home where I moved the piano from my parents to my house and again took it up. After a couple years of lessons I could read music fairly well and was decent, but I still needed to spend too much time getting a song memorized and solid enough that it sounded really good to me.
I gave up the lessons, but still played for awhile until a trip to visit friends in VA Beach. We went to her parents boat for cocktails (a lot of cocktails), then back to her parents place to have more cocktails. They had an organ. I sat down and opened a song book she had there and I played unpracticed music like I knew what I was doing. Now I don't know if everyone was as drunk as I was, but everyone raved about how well I played. I woke up the next day and realized the only way I could actually be any good was to be semi-conscious and never played again. True story.

I sold that piano some fifteen years ago and I swear it showed up at the thrift store I volunteer at about six months ago. It looked like the piano and the date on the inside was the right time frame for when it was originally purchased. Unfortunately, my 91 year old mother couldn't remember where they had bought it. I might have given it another go. Nah, just imagining with
