Gutter, my snuff usage varies from day to day and for some reason don't hardly use any at home. I did just take a couple pinches of honey menthol though. I have a bullet of the absinthe and it was ok but I never went back and used it again after I tried it the first time. During the day at work I probably have anywhere from two to eight pinches depending on my mood. I almost always have a portion in during work so I am snusing and snuffing at the same time along with sneaking the occasional puff on my pv. From what I can tell I have a fairly strong nic and maoi addiction. Not to mention alot of times I still get strong cravings after lunch at work. I wish I could say I've been smoke free for as long as Axl but it would be a lie and there's no reason to do that.

aaah - good to know.It seems as if the hit from snuff fades relatively quickly and you'd have to take a sniff every 20-30 minutes to maintain if you're not using snus or pv or whatever.I just wanted to make sure there wasn't an impending aneurysm or anything from keeping too much up there :)

i was 3 months smoke free 3 days ago and you better believe when i hit a year - there will be a party :p

smelling some blueberry menthol and drinking h20.

Good morning. Yeah gutter I would imagine that in order to survive on snuff without snus that you would have to take pinches fairly often. I do have a couple strong snuffs that I can go to for a fast fix if I have a bad craving but I think most of the time I use it as a boost while snusing or sometimes just like the scents. Nothing exciting going on yet this morning which is a plus for me. I do have quite a bit of work staring at me so I better go after it.

HelloHelloHelloHello!!! Is that an echo? Where is everyone??

Just got done with my 'jenny' workout. It the 'yourshape' jenny mccarthy program for the wii. It is a little dorky but it does the trick when I don't run. It has a camera thingie that actually watches you and projects your image on the screen next to her image so you can see what you are doing wrong and it also tells you. My knee hurt today (when my quads get sore my knee hurts for some reason) so I did that instead of my run.

    What's everybody up to?

that's interesting hitt - beforehand i would have thought that the effects of snuff would last a little longer but i guess if it gets you off cigs then 10 pinches a day would be nothing in comparison.

i got a tin of the xmas pudding in my order this week too i haven't tried any yet but i'm smelling some clove in there somewhere and some other spice i can't put my finger on.let me know if you figure it out :p

Hey guys, guess what? It is my one year quit date today!!!!!!!!!! Just realized that this morning while wandering (um...working hard) around work.

Congrats Axl! That's quite the landmark. :)

My 5 months anniversary is tomorrow actually. If I make it through this week at the office, I think the whole quitting thing just might stick. I know some people say that with snus and snuff they don't think about cigs, but I can't say a day in those five months have gone by when I didn't want one at some point. It isn't always a serious craving, more of a "wow I'd really like a smoke right now" moment. Maybe for some of us that never goes away. Meh. Enough about that.

The evening's getting away from me and I need to try to get in a little quality time with the pups. :)

Yeah Expat, I had one of those days today. I was just posting somewhere about not even thinking of having a cigarette earlier this week and I was serious. Then for some reason, today I kept feeling the need. I pulled out the E cig when I stopped at the pub for lunch and someone asked about it and said they look silly. Big deal. Anyway, I'm on my fifth snus and may have a sixth before the night is over.

When I was having the urge, I lipped one and it didn't even taste that good. Just one of those day where

    Nothing to drink yet and
Catch Euc. is just getting me by

Allco, I still get that too. It always surprised me, "Woah, where did THAT come from"? is always what I think. I just tell myself, "we don't do that anymore" and move on. I don't think it will ever go away, but as long as it is just a passing thought that we don't (or rarely) act on, I'm ok with it. I often have passing thoughts of slamming my car into fellow motorists too, and I'm probably more likely to do that at some point than I am to buy another pack of ciggies. At least that is my hope.

Hitt, I live on the EDGE too! Spelling, math, reading...every night. I don't mind though, both of my kids are showing the results. I am a bit concerned about my son. He is 8 now and wants to wear a nice shirt and tie to school every day. I let him because I believe in letting them find their own styles as long as it isn't smutty BUT I feel like I am letting him set himself up to get beat up daily as well. UGH. Both of my kids like have a real sense of fashion, and I don't get it. If I am put in a position where I have to wear something other than jeans and a t-shirt, I about have a panic attack. I don't know what looks good and I certainly can't accessorize.

    anyhoooooo

Congrats on the 5 months allco! I wonder if we ever get to a point where we don't know EXACTLY how long it has been? Do you think we don't see the the regulars from last year on this because they have gone back to ciggies? It would be nice to hear from them anyway, at least sometimes.

It's all about rebellion Axl. Now if you got all dressed up all the time, they'd want to be wearing the jeans. Joking.

I almost forgot, I feel a bit better about the hotel room tonight. Last night, the best I could find anywhere near the Center was $170. All were pretty much in the same price range and many were non-smoking (this may be the last time I'll rent one that smoking is allowed anywhere based on my findings this time). I finally narrowed it down to the most convenient which was walking distance to the center and breakfast included. Then I found out that they wouldn't guarantee smoking until check-in which meant I could have a very unhappy smoker with me if things didn't work out. Then I decided on an Embassy suites which had smoking, but $10 more and both had another 15.5% tax to be tacked on. I elected to sleep on it.

This morning I took a brief look and found a Novetel which gave a 20% discount if you registered 2 weeks in advance, non-refundable Tax and all it was just over $70, and hour earlier check in and and hour later check out with good reviews. My kind of deal.

I just got a new septic drain field for 3 grand. Supposed to last forever, and I think it will. My kids finished college, so I don't have to do homework anymore. I didn't mind it except for those last minute "we have to go to the store to buy cardboard and sugar and tubes because I have to make the Parthenon by tomorrow morning and the store's gonna close in a half hour." That drove me nuts. But I could always have a cigarette, which made me feel better almost every time. I don't think those random urges that come from nowhere without any cause or reason will ever completely disappear. I think having things with which to attack the urges (like snus, PV's and snuff) make a HUGE difference, just because at least they are decent weapons with which to fight the urges. I admire Axl for not succumbing to the urge to demolish people/things when she's driving! Those urges DO keep coming back, huh?

It's been almost 6 months for me and I'm just amazed that it's still working. We lucked out by being around when they came up with PV's and that let the cat out of the bag about the lies about smokeless products.

Gutter, I think there's cinammon in the pudding too.

Allco, I too have cravings too and unfortunately have acted on some. Maybe I'm weak. Hell I don't know and am done with the guilt trips. I can use eight portions a day, half a dozen pinches or more, and vape a ml or better of 30mg liquid and still crave a smoke. Maybe I'm just broken. As long as I'm not smoking full time then I figure I'm accomplishing something.

I think there are probably a lot of people that still smoke here and there but don't mention it. I don't see any point in not being honest about it. I am very happy for those that have quit completely. Maybe some day I'll be one of them. I have quit in the past for months at a time but always end up slipping. I have no excuses. It is what it is.

    Hitt,
caving for a smoke every once in a while doesn't make you weak or broken - it makes you human.Reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke is the name of the game for everyone here and any amount you cut down puts you ahead of the curve.Don't guilt yourself when you falter - congratulate yourself when you succeed.

Good morning. Gutter I do appreciate your kind words. I have said similar things to others. At first I would guilt myself pretty badly for a while if I had a slip but now I don't do that too much. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I want to be able to help others on the forum kick the habit or at least give sound advice but feel conflicted about doing that when I'm having slips myself.
