Energizer bunny euthanized-

Highly radioactive rabbit trapped at Hanford | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO News | Local & Regional

"Officials suspect the rabbit sipped some water left from the recent demolition of a Cold War-era building used in the production of nuclear weapons, the Tri-City Herald reported Friday."

Bunny sipped the cool-aide. You have to wonder where the water that he didn't drink ended up.

"Contaminated animals occasionally are found at the nuclear reservation, but more often they are in the center of Hanford, far from town.

The rabbit trapped at the 300 Area caught the Health Department's attention because it was close enough to the site's boundaries to potentially come in contact with people - if it had been caught by a dog or if its droppings were deposited in an area open to the public."

God, we're safe, except I wonder where Energizer's mate ended up?

Actually guys, an alligator attack in Iowa is EXACTLY the sort of luck I tend to have!! If I knew how to work a gun I wouldn't need two German Shephers, now, would I? ;)

You guys just made me hungry for peanut m&m's!! Do you know how many miles I'll have to run to work off the 2lb bag I intend to eat tonight?

Hmmm, those weren't on the list of things runners should eat.. OH WELL!!!!

Hey gang. Hope everyone is having a good Saturday. Just the usual routine around here this morning, cleaned the kitchen, pay some bills, then off to the market to reload for the week. It finally feels like fall here in West Tennessee and I'm enjoying it. The pups are southern by birth and don't seem to have the same love for crisp, cold mornings that I do.

I have a bridal shower to go to today. It feels so awkward for me cuz that just isn't the sort of thing I am into. I'm not really a girly girl at all and I wish there was a way out of it but it is my best friend of almost two decades. UGH. Just what I want to do on my only free day this week. Oh well.

Good morning/ afternoon. Axl maybe you should take a dog or two with you to make things a little more interesting.

Hi Jojo. Where have you been. We miss you here.

Allco, I'm also doing my normal routine. Sitting here waiting for my daughter while she is in her violin lesson. I did the checkbook this morning which always puts me in a crappy mood. The grocery bill for the four of us is getting crazy. The wife said we were out of a lot of household stuff this week which put us about $60 over our supposed grocery budget. That's ok I'll just go pull a few twenties off the money tree. I am very thankful that I stocked up on snus and snuff when I did. I haven't spent hardly anything on my habits for a couple months and should be able to get by with what I have for some time.

Afternoon/evenin' all :). Stubby, don't fret the M&M tax. With Osamacare and all the other inflation coming our way in the next couple years, we'll all have to start communal living. As long as I get the bottom bunk I'd be more than happy to pitch in a 10 spot once a week so you can afford one of those sample packs.

roth, after reading those "runners secrets" I say it's worth a try. I drank a half gallon of chocolate milk while I read it and felt fantastic. So satisfied I didn't even need to run, just nap. Where do you find these wonderful ideas? I'm not sure pickle juice would work as well since I don't cramp if I don't exercise, but I'd be willing to watch hitt down a quart and go for a jog to see what happens :).

Hey W, forget the dogs and the gun, just take a gater everywhere and I think you'll probably be ok.

Yeah, I'd say it probably plays a dominating role.

Evening all. Became a Camel snuser again when I forgot my travel can today and the Robust I had was in my other cycle jacket.
This time I went back to the mellow (one of my earliest tries) and I rather liked it. It turned into a change of pace and it kept me happy all afternoon. As people have mentioned, tastes change over time. I could actually see myself lipping some of this from time to time.

I also signed up on the Camel site and posted a link back to here as a response to someone's question. There are a number of people there liking the Camel a lot. Different strokes I suppose. When I got home I quickly was back on

I s'pose you're probably right about the taste change. Unfortunately, I think my 1st round with Camel may have tainted me for life, tho the nightmares aren't as often. I still think the best thing about it was the cool tin .

Let me get this straight . . .

Nancy Pelosi is planning to run for minority leader in the next congress. She said that she is “driven by the urgency of protecting health care reform”....“We have no intention of allowing our great achievements to be rolled back.”

So because of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and many other politicians…

(1)We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't,
(2)Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people,
(3)without adding a single new doctor,
(4)but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents,
(5)written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it,
(6)passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it,
(7)and signed by a President who for 20 years attended a Black Liberation Theology, Marxist/Socialist church that promoted victimology and redistribution of wealth,
(8)with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes,
(9)for which we'll be taxed for four years before benefits take effect,
(10)by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare,
    (11)and financed by a country that's broke!!!!!

What could possibly go wrong? :(

    Somewhere between here and there
Good morning folks. TV the whole healthcare thing makes me sick to my stomach. The health insurance that my company offers is pretty crappy and I would have never taken it if my wife was still working. We were always on her insurance and got rather spoiled since it was a great policy. I just didn't realize how good it was until we got on mine. We have hit max out of pocket for several years with my wife's different illnesses. Our deductible keeps increasing to the point where I wonder why I even keep the insurance. The only time it really does any good is on a very large bill. It's rather frustrating. Between the price I pay each week for it and the deductible, it is questionable if it's really worth it. The only place I would get in trouble is if one of us had to go into the hospital. Ok enough of that.

Roth, I actually liked the flavor of the camel frost snus when I first tried it but it didn't have enough of a kick for me. I was at a gas station the other day that had the new camel and marlboro snus and was tempted to buy a can just to try but didn't. Maybe I'll get some just to say that I tried it.

As a rule, I try not to go anywhere where I can't take at least one of the dogs... and God help anyone who comes to the house and isn't a dog lover. Those types usually don't stick around long for some reason.

I hear ya there, hitt. I'm beginning to wonder how I ever paid for my smokes. I haven't spent anything on vape or snus since PACT. Not looking forward to the day I have to start making regular orders again.

I haven't had any of the Camel since I got my first order of Swedish snus, but I actually liked the extra sweet taste. Maybe that says something about my sweet tooth. Maybe the next time I fuel up I'll pick up a can for old time's sake and give it a go. The tin tin is definitely a nice touch.

Nothing special planned today, so hopefully it will be a nice, relaxing day... On a side note, I just opened a can of Grov White and have been really enjoying it. It seems to get bitter a little more quickly than I expected, but overall I like the flavor alot.

Afternoon Allco. I am sure we both will be taken off guard when we see the total for our first snus order post pact. I'm not looking forward to it. I did take advantage of the free shipping deal here a while back at getsnus. Even with the free shipping it still cost quite a bit more than it used to. The tax rate here is pretty low so that doesn't affect it too much. I guess the days of snus for two something a can are gone. I got the leaves raked today and let the kids jump in them before we bagged them. The smell of the leaves brought back childhood memories of me doing the same thing when I was a kid. Ahh good times. A pile of leaves and no addiction to tobacco.

While spending some time on the other side of the tracks and responding to someone who had posted about tobacco free pledges being offered at his company with a $50/mo bribe, I stumbled upon a study on obesity and smoking. I then found the following comment that I found extremely insightful.

The post was made by J. E. R. Staddon, James B. Duke Professor, emeritus, Duke University
    Food for thought-

"This fascinating article confirms what many people have suspected (e.g., in my book The New Behaviorism (p. 89), that in terms of medical costs, smokers are cheaper than non-smokers - lower not just in lifetime but in annual costs. (It would be possible, for example, that although smokers incur only a half, say, the medical costs of non-smokers, they live only one third as long, yielding a higher cost per year. Smokers die sooner, true enough, but not enough sooner to outweigh their lesser cost.) If the cost of state pensions are factored in, the disparity is of course even greater.

What might this difference imply for government policy? The answer is far from obvious.

Several other questions must be answered first. Does lower cost (per year or per lifetime - smokers are lower in both) imply higher (Darwinian) fitness? It is possible that a short life, a larger percentage of which is productive, is correlated with higher fitness, given the
well-known fact that lifetime affects, and is strongly affected by, natural selection (e.g., Reznick et al., 1996).

What is the proper role of government: is it collective - acting for the best interests of the community as a whole? Or should it be concerned with individual well being, even if that conflicts with collective good? More generally, should government only do for people what
they cannot do for themselves, as libertarians contend, or does it have broader obligations?

In our secular society, utilitarian considerations, the greatest good for the greatest number, usually carry the most persuasive weight. A utilitarian argument aimed at maximizing the collective good would say that since smokers cost society less than non-smokers, smoking
should be if not encouraged at least not discouraged. The Darwinian-fitness hypothesis leads to the same conclusion.

But what about the individual suffering that smoking causes? Here the conclusion is not at all clear. We all die and dying, whether smoking-induced or not, is rarely pleasant. A policy-maker urging abolition of smoking would therefore have to make the argument that a
smoking-induced death is more unpleasant than death via other causes. Perhaps - but against this must be balanced the pleasure that smokers derive from their habit. And smoking, unlike drinking alcohol, never leads to violence or death by automobile. So immediate harm to others (I discount the conjectural small, and avoidable, risk of passive smoke) is not available as a backup argument.

What seems to be left to anti-smoking advocates are two possibilities: a belief that longevity is an absolute good, or a taboo against smoking. So, is old age always a virtue? Not according to Jonathan Swift, who writes of the Methuselah-like Struldbruggs, eternally enfeebled by the infirmities of age: "the Question therefore was not whether a Man would choose to be always in the Prime of Youth, attended with Prosperity and Health, but how he would pass a perpetual Life under all the usual
Disadvantages which old Age brings along with it." And should the choice between a short and happy life and a long but perhaps less-happy one be up to the individual or is the government obliged to intervene?

The remaining possibility is to enforce a moral, faith-based prohibition of smoking no more tied to utilitarian arguments than the Hindu prohibition against eating beef or the Jewish one against pork. But is the promotion of such a belief proper for the government of a secular society?

However the political process comes out, we should at least be clear that the arguments for the prohibition of smoking rest on shaky scientific foundations."
