OK...
so a friend of mine came over tonight to pick up a bike for his wife's oldest child ( she's in college,he's just her stepdad). He married a woman with 5 kids by various men- all her kids are awesome and i love them to death as does he.

so with that out of the way, since they've gotten married, she has gotten progressively crazier. some sort of weird dominance or hormone issues that i don't know how any one could put up with...
anyway,
he comes to pick up a bike,we drink a beer while we stand in the cold, load the bike up and talk ( 1 beer each) and as he is leaving ( he walks out of the house while i grab my jacket) she pulls in to the driveway with two kids in the vehicle and i guess is having it out with him in the driveway - when i walk out she starts yelling at me about how "if he wants to come over here and get drunk, he can just stay here" and "how can he do this to her kids 3 days before christmas" and how "he can just stay here now as far as i'm concerned".............

so i'm fairly dumbfounded, not expecting any of this, and not usually having this sort of drama at my house. not to mention, noone was anywhere near being drunk and he was the one that brought the 2 beers we drank over the hour that he was here.I just kind of laughed it off at first as she said all this and then ran and got in her vehicle and squealed her tires leaving ( really! squealed tires in a hyundai suv!!! i didn't know that was posssible??) but, the more i thought about it, the more incensed i became about being berated on my own property for something i didn't do.

The more i think about it, the more i think she must be a sociopath. If i was to say something like that, in that tone to someone on their own property with no basis in fact, i would fully expect to get punched in the mouth ,repeatedly untill i apologized or the punchee got tired of punching me. Maybe i was just raised old fashioned, but you don't speak ill of a man's family, or berate him on his own property unless you are prepared for whatever he dishes out.Is that wrong?

anyway,
I'm in high spirits and frankly pretty happy regardless. a dear friend sent me a really nice pair of studio monitors for christmas ( my old teacs were getting pretty long in the tooth) and i dislocated my thumb installing them. they have a dedicated rack mount amp and i installed it with no help and as i was racking it up, the weight shifted and bent my thumb backwards to my wrist - i had to pull it out with the other hand and pop it back in socket but, i guess it's not broken as it's still moving. Hurts like hell but, is still working :)
at any rate, the monitors sound amazing and I'm almost caught up with work.I'm really looking forward to spending time with my dogs and family and just relaxing in general.

Gutter, don'y worry about itm it wasn't about you. It was the rest of the case he finished before he brought the last two to your place at 2 in the morning. She was just a bit touchy.

Actually, I may have met her mother years ago. We were vacationing in Fla with another coupe prior to a bowl game. They had a number of friends that we met and were having a great time in various sightseeing spots around Miami. For the Orange Bowl parade, which was at night, he made plans to have a cookout with a college friend and his wife. Similar situation where she had a couple or three kids prior to them getting married. She was a total psycho, constantly berating him and nasty to the four of us that she'd just met. I was so happy that she worked herself into such a lather that they abrupt left right after we ate. I always felt bad for what he somehow walked into, he seemed to be an alright guy.

As far as the tire squealing with the Hyundai, I can totally believe it. Before the gf destroyed the Elantra, that vehicle would always squeal if you hit it a little hard on takeoff. That really was a great little car before it became junk.

Finally to how his wife made you feel, save the aggression. All that would have gotten you was thrown in jail or shot when you later found out she was packing. Just be prepared to testify if something goes wrong in that household.

Good morning. Gutter, as hard as it may have been, you did the right thing. I think that the holidays get a lot of people really stressed and that's the kind of behavior that comes out. We have had more people call and and come in being jerks in the past week or so than we do in several months. Nothing like getting in the Xmas spirit.

Good morning. Axl I can only imagine what someone who's not familiar with this thread would think after reading your posts about dehydrated hot dogs.:p

I've got a ton of work to do today before I leave since I'm off next week. I really doubt that I'll get it all finished but I'm going to do my best.

    roth,
it's funny you mention the elantra being great when it was running. I had a friend that had one and just loved it but, it seemed like it didn't really go downhill like most cars. When it got to that age it just kind of rolled over and died and that was it.strange.

    Hitt,
you're right about holiday stress i think.I worked in retail for a few years and it always seemed like the holidays either made people happy go lucky or insanely nuts. It was always easy to spot the difference by the time they got to the register :)

    axl,
i never would have thought dehydrated hot dogs would make good tracking bait - doesn't dehydrating them kill off most of the scent?

I had a customer here untill 1:30 am last night but i did finish everything that has to be done before christmas.I've gotta hit the grocery sometime today but other than that and cleaning house, i'm pretty well done. I may piddle with a couple of amps today but after i hit the store, i'm gonna try to start relaxing a bit.I've got a nice bottle of vsop brandy in the cupboard and the weather has turned cold so this evening may be popcorn, christmas movies and a bit of a brandy induced haze (just not with any married friends joining in) :)

Sounds like a great plan gutter. I got everything done that I wanted to before leaving for vacation except one machine that just turned south on me. It's a hypertherm plasma cutter. I got the parts in, had it fixed, and was cutting with it when the plunger in the head started sticking. Unfortunately I don't have anything here to fix it so it's going to have to wait until I get back. Oh well, close but no cigar.

Gutter I'm not really hoping for anything specific. I'm just excited for the wife and kids to open their stuff. I'm pretty easy to please. Give me a can of squeeze cheese and some good crackers and I'm happy. Well that and a portion and cup of coffee for dessert.

Gutter-I'd recommend the Go-Go. Works great and it's pretty cheap. There are about 3-4 vendors who sell it. The battery charge lasts 2 days and the cartos hold a ton of juice and last at least a month, frequently longer.

I plowed snow at work half the day. Now it's raining. Thanks again to hittman for the Stonewalls. What a nice guy.

I'm already done with xmas! Eat your little hearts out! Have a wonderful time, everyone!

Gutter, if your friend likes the analog look, the Volt is pretty good. Batteries last several hours, and the cartos don't burn. Reasonable price and good service. Coupon right now for 20% off, I think. retailmenot.com has the code. Sold by smokeless image.
The family got a call from the nephew yesterday from Afghanistan. It was shortly after midnight his time, and his gifts had just arrived. He was joking that the r.c. car would be handy for blowing up I.e.d.'s and asked us to send more cheap cars. Marines have a different sense of humor. He's flying small drones out of his patrol vehicle from a forward operating base for the next couple of months. He should be home in late February. Can't wait to see him again. Hope everyone has a great day with their families and too much to eat.

LOL, funny, your choice of words. Hers was a 2005 and it did that. She somehow was getting off an exit hit the guard rail on the left, crossed the road and hit rocks and a hill and literally it rolled over and DIED. Fortunately she, her 5 year old great nephew and her dog escaped relatively unscathed.
