Hitt,
I' m glad to hear you guys made the trip safely- i Guess it's something we all have to deal with at some time or another (although, knowing that doesn't help at the time).

Looks like things have been pretty slow around these parts lately.
I've been working on my amp and have finally turned the corner and am getting ready to wrap it up. It has easily been the most trying project to date and with the 2 back panels the break total comes to somewhere right around 20.I'm not sure what happened to the poor thing but, i'm pretty amazed that it didn't fall apart before now.

it's been several weeks worth of work so i won't recount it step by step but here's where she sits now:

as of right now there's 2 whole 3 foot dowels along with the new baffle, speakers, reverb tank, caps, grill cloth and soon to be new tolex. if i had charged a customer for the work the bill would be between 800 and 1000.00 at this point.

i also picked up a gorgeous guitar this week. I have sort of a thing for guitars that came out of a specific factory in japan in the mid to late 70's - i have 4 already and a buddy of mine found a hummingbird copy that they made in limited numbers.
He picked it up for peanuts and it absolutely destroys any real gibson hummingbird i've played or worked on -it's in mint condition and i absolutely love it:

I've got to go start the tolex on the pro but when i get it done, i'll post some before and after pics for you guys :)

Good morning. Gutter it looks like your amp project is coming along nicely. You have way more patience than I do. The new guitar looks like it's in perfect condition. I'm not familiar with the hummingbird guitars but if you say it's a great guitar then it must be fact.

It's back to work for me. This will be my first full week in a while. With the stuff going on this month, work seems to be a lot less important than before. I guess things like this make us think about where we are in our lives and where we are spending our time.

Ummmm...we DID buy a new one at the beginning of November! After it had spent more time at best buy getting repaired than it had in our house the last few months, they finally ran a diagnostic and determined it has a faulty processor. It was sent out for a replacement thingie last monday and maybe one day we'll get it back.

Evening folks. Just relaxing for a bit after dinner. The last time I went to Starbucks to buy coffee, they gave me a sample pack of a new one called blonde. It's not bad.

Gutter, I meant to tell you that when we went to Ohio that a sister of my bil works for a coffee roaster. It's called Boston Stoker. The bag she gave us is kind of a flavored coffee and my wife likes it a lot. I'm not so big on flavored ones but its not bad.

    Hitt -
C'mon man, You got a coffee roaster in the family and haven't mentioned it before???? You gotta hook a brutha up....
    :)

    seriously,
I've got sort of a left over bias about flavored coffee from working in a couple of shops way back when.Back then,Flavored coffee was what the roasters did with subpar beans - they would take the beans that were old or over roasted or whatever and coat em in flavoring and try to pass em off.
Now,i think they've gotten abit better about it but, to this day i still can't choke down a french vanilla or hazlenut coffee because of it.

We've had some sort of freakish weather the last few days ( it's been almost 70) and i've been humping trying to get my amp done. I got it reassembled today and it looks and sounds amazing. If the weather holds,i'll snap some pics tomorrow.

Other than that, i had sort of a surreal day today - a buddy of mine found what appears to be a vertabrae in what is essentially his sideyard. he brought it over for me to check out and we sent pics to my chiropractor who said it was a c2 axis vertabrae.my buddy ended up calling the police who came to check it out and agreed that it was probably human - they are sending it out to a lab to confirm and are supposed to do excavation on the area where it was found tomorrow.
It was spooky ,to say the least.

Pappy is supposed to come over and work on the shop with me tomorrow - hopefully we'll get the decking on the roof.

Gutter, I had never met her until a week ago. She said they have a website but I haven't checked it out yet. I hope your project goes well today. If you are putting the roof decking on then you must be nearing completion. We have also been having the weird warm weather like you. I'm not complaining, it's just weird. Oh, by the way, Good Morning.

well we got rained out on shop construction today. The wife was off and i slept all day (rainy, dark and a day off is always prime sleeping time :))
we haven't heard back on the bone yet.I'm pretty interested to sit back and watch them dig the area up - according to my chiropractor,it's almost impossible for that bone to be separated from the skull so it should be neat to see if they dig anything else up.

other than that, i got nothing. I may try to get a ride in tonight if the rain holds out. It's just too nice outside to squander the opportunity.

Good morning. Gutter, sorry you got rained out. It sounds like you needed the rest though. I ordered a new pv the other day. It should be here soon. I had been wanting something like the provari and saw that they came out with the lavatube/l-rider and thought I'd give it a go. I got a complete kit with an extra battery for $68. That's about a third of what the provari would cost. Anyway, thought I'd mention that for the snussers that are still vaping too.

Evening all, yup, I'm alive and kicking. I've just had a lot of distractions. I finally got fed up with putting everyone one else ahead of my own issues and started going to the Chirocracker to get my wheel back. I'd really like to start using that tread mill and after over a month of no improvement I thought it was about time. Hopefully he'll have me straightened out in the next couple weeks. My long time guy had to retire do to Alzheimer's disease a few years ago and his son had taken over. He was pretty wimpy at first since he had only been out of school at the time. He's gotten a lot more aggressive now. If he was 40 pounds heavier, I could be fooled into believing his dad was working on me. Unfortunately, he's talking about moving to Hungary for a year (and you never know if it could be longer). His wife is from there and he lived there three years so you never know. I'd hate to have to find a new guy at this point.

Haven't caught up on this thread. I did catch Gutter's latest project and waiting to see the transformation. I always find them fascinating. I guess everyone's been getting some spring in winter from the looks of the weather map. We finally got part way back to winter. When I hoped on the scoot this morning, it was 30 and only got up to 33 by the time I got to the thrift store. I was comfortable the whole ride. Then the temp rose to 44-47 when I left but the wind had picked up a bit and my hands kept getting cold on the various stops along the way. That really shouldn't have happened but I've got that feeling as if I'm on the verge of a cold which might have something to do with it.

The one thing I'm grateful for is the lack of snow. I really don't mind spending the money for a self propelled blower thyat sits in my garage. In fact when I bought it, I was hoping it would get the same use the push version I bought back in the eighties got. I think it took about a dozen years to get any significant snowfall with that one.

This is a true account recorded in the Police Log of Sarasota, Florida.

An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found
four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle. She dropped her shopping bags
and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her voice, "I have a gun, and
I know how to use it! Get out of the car!".

The four men didn't wait for a second invitation. They got out and ran like
mad. The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into
the back of the car and got into the driver's seat. She was so shaken that she could
not get her key into the ignition. She tried and tried, and then it dawned on her why.
For the same reason she did not understand why there was a football, a Frisbee and
two 12 packs in the front seat.

A few minutes later, she found her own car parked four or five spaces
further down. She loaded her bags into the car and drove to the police station to report
her mistake. The sergeant to whom she told the story couldn't stop laughing. He pointed
to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a car jacking
by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white
hair, and carrying a large handgun. No charges were filed.

If you're going to have a Senior Moment, make it memorable.

This was posted in facebook. I highly doubt that it is true, but it is funny.

Roth, its good to see you. A guy at work was telling me about this water jet massager that his chiropractor has. He went yesterday for the first time and really liked it.

The story about the lady was really funny. I still don't have a Facebook account. I keep going back and forth as whether to start one or not.
