Vaping a local vanilla custard and enjoying a Youngs double chocolate stout. Pure dessert!
This thread is making me want a Corona, Southern Comfort, or a lil' of that mason jar goodness. I haven't found a "great" vape with a beer, i just know that my sweeter juices aren't that great with one. I may have to try some citrus juice with a Corona sometime. I usually try sticking to something with a lil' more tobacco flavor and strong. I've got some Standard Tobacco from Vapedudes mixed with some Menthol Burst from Smokeless Image that helps any analog cravings i've had, but it's still not that great of a vape. I do have some Casa and RY4 coming from BWB that might help. We have a sitter tomorrow night, and i'm hoping my BWB order comes in tomorrow tooMight have to throw some logs in the fire pit and toss back a few...
I just cracked a bomber of one of my latest batches of homebrew which is a Dry Sour Saison. I happened to be vaping some Mom&Pop's RY4V2. The sweetness of the RY4V2 really complimented the dry finish of this fruity ale.
A lot of people have already mentioned this, but I will chime in as well. With an IPA, I usually enjoy citrus/sweet flavors to balance out the bitterness of the IPA (my favorite is Avery Brewery's IPA . . . If you are every in Colorado or can find it at your local liquor store I HIGHLY recommend it). That being said, my absolute favorite flavor to vape with my favorite IPA is Highbrow's Orange de Sangre (make sure you let it steep for at least a week). Something about Citrus and IPAs just goes together for me.
However, I usually drink at an Irish pub (read I usually drink Guiness, Murphy's, etc.) So, coffee flavors and rich flavors (vanilla, creme brule, chocolate) are great options to compliment the nectar of the gods (stouts poured on nitrogen).
Boba's with Beer
I drink low cal/low carb beers(diabetic and all that...I know I shouldn't have a beer at all, but...). Anyway, I've hit on 2 flavors that seem to do it for me when I imbibe. If its a hoppy beer something with a bit of cinnamon seems to do the trick. If its a somewhat generic/limited flavor beer the fruit seems to work - lime cola, cherry, fruit stripe.
Try a cappucino/vanilla flavor with Guiness - I find it addictive!
India Pale Ales are generally paired with spicy foods in restaurants.Id try something like apple cider or spiced rum ejuice with this but Id also add a word of caution in regards to IPA's...the hoppy flavor makes pairings more difficult as they can easily overwhelm most peoples taste buds.
ECBlends has some VERY unusual flavorings under their novelty flavors that MIGHT work.If youre brave enough to try them please let us all know how it works out
no theyre not the first but i praise SN for all they do. Dales Pale Ale (Oskar Blues)was the brew that really kick-started the canned craft beer bonanza.
i like your Occupint tradition!
Dale's will definitely sneak up on you..........
I haven't been a big fan of what I've tried from ECBlend. I find their flavors very artificial tasting. The novelty flavors are pretty foul, by the way. The roast beef actually tasted accurate, though, and it was frightening.
Can anyone recommend any good somewhat savory non-tobacco flavors? I'm still searching for something savory/spicy to pair with a couple IPAs I have in mind.
To the southern New England guys, the Saison I mentioned in my above post was from Trinity Brewhouse in Providence. I'm not in love with their beer, but they usually have a couple good ones on the menu.
Have either of you guys been to Beervana yet?
Hey neighbor (im from Cranston). I have yet to find a savory/spicy non-tobacco vape that goes well with an IPA. The only slightly savory vapes that i enjoy are either tobacco or too sweet for an IPA. 555 Exotic, NLV Gold, and Quick Nic Enigma are savory in that they have a buttery note but unless youre looking for tobacco or a sweet vape, its no help. but i gotta say that roastbeef being accurate is indeed quite scary
I'm a fan of Trinity, but not a diehard. I dig their IPA (from the brewpub), the Redrum is nice too. Once in a while I'll venture off the hoppy ones but the last tiem i did i was thoroughly unimpressed with their Russian Imperial. BUT, yes i have been to Beervana. i missed the inaugural one but ive been to the two they had a Rhodes. and in 2010 Trinity (in my mind) was out-doing themselves. they had this quad in a tiny wooden barrel that was blowing my mind. my tastebuds couldn't believe themselves. i'll be at this year's festivities as well. im sure we'll notice each other by the plumes of vapor.speaking of.... whos gonna host a Rhody Vape Meet?! that would be great.
i like the way you think Hill Giant! we should organize somehting maybe. i only know of 1 other member in RI tho. jmkentertainment i believe.
no, i dont remember Wolf's Breath per se but i do remember trying their barleywine, so it must have been the wolf's breath. i was pleasantly surprised as it was one of the better barleywines ive tried. you gotta love beer fests for the simple fact that the breweries (for the most part) pull out their big guns. and trinity did just that. i get irked when i see a vendor table set up and theyre pouring their flagship from bottles. give me a break. if i wanted to try a 6 month old past-its-prime flagship for the 100th time poured by an unintelligable fool, id go to the liquor store down the road, then pour it for myself![]()
A buddy of mine just joined recently. I got him vaping a few weeks ago, so that's 1 more. Need to convert a few more of my friends and get them signed up.
Absolutely right about the beer fests. That's why I don't bother with the convention center ones anymore. The smaller, more classy events are where it's at.
Oak Barrel Cider usually. Sometimes Salmiakki (Salty Liquorice) or Vermillion River Hard Lemonade
