I had a really tough choice between a Z-atty and a Cobra. I chose a Cobra and i'm lucky, i barely made the draw hole any bigger with a few t-reamer turns and it's perfect for me. I knew the Z-atty would make my Provaris look like hybrids but at least the Cobra has a 19 mm diameter and therefore still fairly sexy fit lol

Get a Pro Ring, and it will look pretty good on a Provari.

I should've been clearer, it's slightly muted compared to Cobra, but there's plenty of flavor! "muted" is usually not a good thing but in this case I like it.

honestly, if I were buying again I'd get the Z-Atty-U instead of ZAP, just to be able to use it on any 510 mod.. That said, I'm happy with the ZAP & have no plans to part ways with it.

to me, AGA-T2 provides more flavor than ZAP too. ZAP with insulator means wicks have to be mighty thin, which could also have something to do with flavor production as well.

I think the factory ZAP set up, with the thin wicks, and the insulator, is a well thought out design for the masses. It's about 2 ohm, so it will work well on either a version1 or version2. It's a decent vape. Not overly powerful; but not anemic either. Can it be improved? It depends what the user wants. I've removed the insulators from mine, which leaves a nice big wick hole. I've made fat wicks for mine, and coiled them with 30ga wire. I like it better, but that's just my taste.

You know, I was thinking of trying to mod it in some way like that.. Was thinking of some clay or 5 minute mud "Drywall mud" and make a smaller hole to see how it goes. and if it works then move onto something better to fill

I saw a video on Youtube where the guy took part out of a razor and used it as an adjustable drap. It is the metal strip that has samll holes in it and it looks like it would work perfectly. You just take a disposable razor apart and there is a metal piece without a sharp edge. You slide that inside the top cap so it sits flat against the inner wall and line the hole of the metal piece up with the airhole and you can adjust it. If I can find the video I will post it. That is probably better than filling the hole with something and it is not something permanent if you ever want to sell the ZAP. I have a still draw cap and honestly it is not all that much smaller.

I posted earlier in this thread but I thought I would give some updates. The draw, which I didn't know if I could get used to is now perfect. The air hole in mine looks to be really small, smaller than what some of you describe yours being. The center post is a bit too tall, hard to get below 1.4ohms with 30g kanthal. My top cap is pretty stable but I wouldn't trust it to not come off in my purse. I've thought about seeing if I could trade it for a cobra but I don't know if I could bring myself to part with it

next to a DID which has had the air hole drilled.

I've had my ZAP about a week now & I've found that, handled correctly, the Zen Atty Pro yields itself to the user in such a way as to produce the most relaxing & satisfying vaping experience possible. My search is over, this is the one.

Yea.. the vape I get is excellent.. that's why I overlook the tall center post and the press on top cap. :D

Glad you like the ZAP. IMO, anyone with a Provari, with an interest in RBAs, should have one. They're a perfect match. With all of the hard to get RBAs out there nowadays, the Zen products have somewhat fallen out of favor. But in reality, they are solid, well made devices.

If they were still hard to get, I don't think you'd ever hear anything negative about them. Make something "hard to get" and desire for that particular object goes through the roof. It's fascinating to watch. I think it affects all of us in some way. I remember doing the f5 thing trying to get a VV woodvil and how I felt when I scored one. It was a whole lot more fun to get than it was to own. And afterwards when we all started getting ours... I could tell that some weren't really happy with them but since we paid $200+, were hesitant to admit it. In reality, mine stank of the varnish it was finished with, it was tricky to set, I had to send it back twice because it fired on it's own and then the 510 connection was loose. It was hard for me to sell it because of how I spent that hour in the frenzy trying to get it. But I did sell if for what I paid for it (thank goodness!) and I have to admit, I enjoyed the thrill of the hunt and kill.

I learned a lesson from that experience. I'm seeing a trend starting since rbas came out. I see people wanting devices just because they enjoy the thrill of the experience of scoring a hard to get item. And then I see some trying to profit from it. I'm not immune to wanting something that's not in stock all the time. But I'm trying to balance my vaping hobby with items that combine quality and functionality. I'll admit I'm tempted by the Roller but not only because it seems to be a quality device but also a tad hard to get. Anyway.. I opted for the EA and I don't even know if I'm going to enjoy the mech with a rba experience.

I'm not really going off topic here, once the zap became relatively readily available and sorta common, it changed it somewhat. The only device I can think of that this phenomena hasn't changed is the Provari, probably because it's always been in stock.. but the Provari is affected by it too in some degree.

disclaimer: I'm not putting down the vv reo woodvil, it's a beautiful device. I just wasn't for me.

Great post, donnah. I'm also at the point in my vaping hobby where I'm torn between being the hunter/collector, and the vaper/realist. I used to love hunting. In fact, in my deer hunting days, I enjoyed the activity much more than the result. Eventually, I came to the realization that I don't really like venison. I gave more of it away than I ate. But I loved the hunt. But I digress.
I remember when I decided I wanted a ZAP. I had read when they would be released on the Provape site; but when the time came, I was away from my computer. Actually, ironically, I was at a local vape meet. By the time I got home, about 10 minutes after the release, they were gone. I was bummed. Now I wanted one even more. So, a couple weeks later, when another batch was to be released, there I was, at the computer, hitting the F5 button. When the ZAPs dropped, it was a matter of seconds, and I had one in my cart. As I later read, the entire release sold out in less than 5 minutes. Apparently there were lots of other people doing the same thing I was doing. So I was as excited about 'winning', as I was about acquiring the ZAP.
Now, in reality, anyone who has been around RBAs for any length of time knows that the quality of the vape is proportional to the proficiency of the builder. As I say often: "A $15 RBA can be made to perform as well as a $150 RBA, in the hands of a good builder." I know this to be true. I have AGA-Ts that are indistinguishable from my ZAPs, Cobras, DIDs, etc., in vape quality. But I didn't have to compete in order to get the AGAs. Acquiring the AGAs didn't give me the sense of 'winning' that the ZAPs did.
Currently, I want a high end mech mod. Preferably a Poldiac or a Roller. I don't know why. I have a couple Naturals and a Sigelei Telescope that work great. But getting them required no effort. I want to 'win' a high end mech mod. It drives me nuts when I can't get what I want, when I want it.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Just felt like writing, while munching away on my chocolate bunny, and vaping some 555.

I wasn't aware that a ZAP was so readily available. Is there another outlet for em besides ProVape?

There are some authorized Provape resellers around. Some may sell ZAPs. I don't know. Mine came directly from Provape. They were unavailable last fall, for a while, as a result of Hurricane Sandy. Since then, I believe batches are released more regularly. The announcements are generally made on Provape's Facebook page.
