What's your OS of choice?

I'm an IT admin in a primarily Windows shop, so I have a MacBook Pro dual booted with XP. I also run a variety of OSs in VMWare sessions for different things...

I don't give a ^&%$ about the OS I'm using. It's the apps that I'm working with.

Yup. Running great as long as all of your hardware is supported.

I`m running Vista , which I hated after "upgrading" from XP, but to be honest with every update it`s just got easier to live with.

Im using Vista 64. I hated Vista when it first came out and refused to use it(kinda like I did when XP first came out). After Service Pack 1 though, it was completely usable and now I wouldnt go back to xp if you paid me.

Windows 7 is nice but to me its not enough of a step up to even consider it. Its almost the same as ME was back before XP. An upgrade but a pointless one.

I exclusively use Ubuntu 8.10 on my work laptop, Mythbuntu on my media box at home, and have dual boot Ubuntu & Windows XP on my recreation laptop. I only really use XP for games and some audio recording software (yet to smooth out some latency issues in ubuntu).

I'm glad to see that linux is doing quite well in the poll.

My Lappy dual boots XP and Ubuntu 8.04 (would rather just Booth XP at work than use Wine)

My desktop is also dual booting XP PClinuxOS and I have an older IBM T41 running Backtrack3. Havn't had a chance to try windows 7 but I've got a box here I may give it a wurl with

Ubuntu/MacOS/Backtrack on the netbook, and MacOS/windows/solaris on a mac mini as well as debian on a few servers. I gave windows 7 a try alse, it's quite good and I am looking forward to it.

Ubuntu must be taking off at last!! Good to see so many people using and enjoying it, I need myself either a brand new drive or wait for Windows 7 final before I can put it back on my machine. Been playing with Linux distributions for 10 years, still no expert tho!! Aptitude makes popping apps on so easy now, I usually fix most problems by RTFM!!

I'm an OS X guy 95% of the time, and XP 5% of the time. My MacbookPro dual boots to XP, and also runs the same XP instance via bootcamp.

I'm not an MS hater, and in fact I'm increasingly frustrated with Apple and some of their tactics - but damn I love my laptop, best machine I've ever owned!

XP and windows 7 are great in my opinion. Vista isn't as bad as what people say I don't think though. It was bad at first but has improved a lot.

I use winXP, win98, Linux in different flavours (SuSe 10.1, SuSe 10.3, SuSE 11.1, DSL, Debian Etch) and FreeBSD 6.2 on my different machines.

But I prefer Linux (SuSE 10.1, as I am rather conservative) on desktop, so I only voted to that.

Windows 98 ROCKS!!!! I have had it in a small stand alone box that ran emulators and they always run better with 98 than 2000 especially my slow 400MHz LEX embedded computer!

That is why I still use it sometimes. It performs best on my older machine at home (PIII 700, 256M) when I occasionally play a CS lan game with my kid.
