it took me about a month before i had a nemesis and an IGO-W i did a lot of reading before hand on battery safety and still if i have any questions i come here and ask away
Probably in January, my second vape is a cheaply made mechanical mod with horrendous screechy threads. It's almost like they took the DNA of a pterodactyl and forged it into the metal. Absolutely hated it at first because I didn't know about the existence of RDAs. I've since acquired an IGO-W with a nice driptip and a different topcap, and now I love it. I overpaid $60 for it from a B&M before I discovered this place. I'm still using it while I wait for my slowtech order that's been sitting in China for 2 weeks.
Started out with a MVP 2/Aerotank setup but it just wasn't doing it for me. Went back to cigarettes a couple days later. After about a month I decided to give vaping one last try. Picked up a Magneto V2 with a Helios clone and haven't looked back since.
I went about 9 months going through about 3 vape pens before I made the switch. Got tired of the wires breaking constantly. Don't know why I didn't make the switch to mechs and building coils sooner considering I like to tinker with ....

I'd been using my first mod, a Kamry K200+, for a while, and recently decided I wanted to try some new gear. In purple. Got my K100+ and a purple AeroTank last week and it's great. Much more rugged and sturdy than my other build. I still switch between the two frequently throughout the day, though.
I was about four weeks of being 100% and learning coil builds before-hand and reading up on battery safety. I had a friend that helped with any questions I had as well.
Depending on what one considers to be actually vaping, I'd say three months after I got my first evod kit. Four if you count the month I spent choking on Blus I had already been using a kayfun and a dripper on my vamo for a while before the mech came in, though.
Started on a halo triton, took me about 4 months until I got an Hcigar nemesis and a Kayfun 3.1. I did ample research into the whole mech, batteries, rebuilding thing and the transition for me was very easy and I will never vape on anything other than a mech again. Mech mods fo life yo =p
I appreciate the mech experience but now with regulated mods exceeding both my preferred ohm load and power level I'm about to switch back to regulated vaping. I do get tired of voltage drop off.
I run VTC5's on a brass Stingray (doesn't get any better IMO) and I can get through most of the day on a single battery but I want a constant power level...all day long.
I have other gear including a 30w APV, but I tend to vape in the 35 to 50 watt range so with my current tackle it must be on a mech.
I see an SX330v3 in my future, 100 watts of regulated flat DC powered bliss.
