When to retire Provari 18490 batteries?

I have a stack of Provari batteries that I have been recharging for a while. How do I know when to toss them and buy new ones? I tried marking the last ones I bought with a sharpie to try and track the new ones but it wore off. Should I just toss them all and start over? They are not cheap.

Personally, I would go by battery life. If you get so little of a charge out of it you have to change them out too often or there are physical signs of it being bad, then its probably time. Otherwise I would keep using them until that time.

I am noticing a slow but sure drop off. I will just have to pay more attention to which ones die early and toss those.

I have some AW 18650s that are starting to drain faster after about 6 months.

if you label your batteries with a sharpie but a peice of scotch tape over your writing and it won't wear off.

I throw out my batteries when they won't charge anymore.

I've always read that these batteries were supposed to work decently for up to a year. At least that was one of the selling points for going with an advanced PV over batteries such as a ego that has an expected lifetime of approximately 250 charges.

Having a good charger can make batteries last longer. One that has auto cut-off, doesn't overcharge more than the recommended maximum voltage and stable charging voltage/current.

Best Rechargeable Battery Chargers: Pila Battery Charger & Pila Charger

I had noticed that my 18650s werent lasting as long as they used to. Then my wifes charger died so I bought the Pila ( linked above ) Once it arrived, I handed my charger to her and took over the pila. My batteries are now lasting longer than when they were new.

I strongly recommend the Pila charger...especially if youre unsure if your batteries are really at the end of their life span.

I use a Pila Charger too. It gives me peace of mind not having to worry that it may burst into flames any minute and takes good care of my batteries.

I spent days looking at chargers and reading reviews before I got the Provari so I also went with the Pila.

I ALWAYS check the charge of the battery when putting a fresh one in the Provari. When it's not topped off, I know it's time to replace it.

EDIT: and now that you rich boogers are bragging about your Pilas...I'm gonna buy one too....gotta keep up, ya know...

Well ya only have to get one Pila cuz they only come in one color,,

I have been using a Pila for a long time. I have been in the game for 3 years. I do need to use my ProVari to see if my batteries are full coming out of the charger.

Holy hell that charger is expensive.

Pila is one smart charger. There are times when I can't remember which of my spare batteries need charging. I just slap them all in the Pila. Pila takes care of determining which needs charging. Even batteries that are just partially used but are still 3.7+ volts are not charged to help prolong their life.
