Where are the t-shirts and apple pies?

How about instead of always taking the defensive stance with our rights, we play the game a bit different and get a little more proactive? The big PR problem is that no one seems to know what PVs are and who uses them.

I thought we could stick some creative rights protecting ideas into a single thread.

Here are my ideas:

1) Street level and local. Ask bars/cafes where smoking is allowed if they would post "vaping allowed" or "vaping welcome", stick a t-shirt on your kid (on the front it could have a "no smoking" symbol and the title "Mommy Quit!" and on the back some kind of PV symbol-- trust me people will ask, if you have a gregarious child that wants to explain the issue-- so much the better), start a local yahoogroup for your area for vaporers, start meetups at a vaporer friendly place. Demo your PV for your doctor, dentist and friends.

Talk to your boss about how vaping might increase productivity, ask for a Vaping allowed sign to be posted in the breakroom.

Wear a t-shirt that says "I vape, you are very welcome" or some such. Keep the message that by vaping we are doing the public a *favor*-- aren't we nice? Create a t-shirt that shows the ingredients to e-juice on one side and all the different toxins (that we know of) for cigarettes on the other side.

The antis are so good at getting the public on their side, we can be so much better. And thanks to the nicotine we're far more pleasant.

2) Take vaping to your local government. Show up at a town meeting and propose that in certain public areas vaping be allowed-- encouraged even (places where cigarette smoking is still/already allowed would be perfect.) Argue that not only are you not polluting the air with a cigarette, that littering and fire hazards would also be reduced. I'm writing up a proposal to encourage the use of PVs on a few of the local nature trails (I'm hitting with the lesser litter, lowered fire hazard and decreased risk of disturbance to wildlife)

Arrange with other PVers to show up at your state's capital with something impressionable (my homeschooling group holds Apple Pie day, we all bake or buy a pie and take our children to give the pies to the legislature in session. Who doesn't want a pie?) Although, technically its a rally/protest keep the message positive. The first thing that comes to mind would be presenting large cards that say "Thank you for not smoking" with a symbol for PV on it and asking the politicians to sign them :thumb: Don't forget to bring your cute children and have them personally ask the pols to protect your right to *not* smoke, or to thank them for keeping vaping legal and saving Mommy, Daddy, or Grandma's life.

3) Federal. Emails can be deleted by assistants and poorly paid minimum wage henchmen. How about a call, fax and snail mail campaign?

Make it impressionable and keep the tone positive-- we could all set a date and send partial packs of analogs to one or two people on the hill on the same day. Padded envelopes are cheap (although cigs are not) it shouldn't cost more than a $1 worth of stamps to ensure that the cigs make it to whoever we decide to tobacco bomb.
