I've only been on this forum since October of '08, but some of the folks that used to post quite regularly are now strangely quiet or missing.

I know we have no way of knowing where they are or what they're doing, but it would be interesting to see "old timers" post their most-missed long lost posters.

Who do you miss the most?

I know what you mean...
I love this place!
However, I do know it is taking waaaay too much of my time.
Soon I'll have to get back to my life, without the cigarettes, but I am looking forward to checking back from time to time to check our progress.
I think people will drift in and out and away from this hobby, just like any other.

To me, sixstring, YOU'RE an "old timer", as I've only been doing this since January.
I remember you from your "Good - Fast - Cheap Pick any two.... " tag. Great tag btw.

So... who do you miss the most?

I think most still peruse the site but have decided to move on to their choice of other discussion groups that cropped up when ECF ran into issues. So, they've found more experienced users that they've befriended online and discuss the more "future of" nand "legality" related topics that the other sites seem to have centered around.

Although I havent been here that long overall, I'm finding myself not really posting that much here anymore simply because the newb's that come sign on lately appear too lazy to use the search button and do some interesting reading.

They'd rather post up a question that's been answered a million times already, or with an impossible question like "whats the best E-cig for me?" rather than research the reviews and video's available and attempt to make an informed decision. When really with whats out there your better off just jumping in on your first purchase because everyone (and I mean EVERYONE !!), will eventually look to try yet another, then another device as they progress.

For me, I guess it depends on my mood if I want to go over the same subject again and again when they come up. That, and with the little break we experienced when the forum was down, I realized just how much time I was spending on the forum which was hours and hours at a time.

Thats my view anyways.

I couldn't agree more. Nothing drains all the energy out of you faster than answering one "newb question here - what device is the best?", only to have someone else post the same thing 30 seconds later.
Aaaaauuuuuughhh....

My other "favorite" is, "I've been researching these things for a little over a month, blah, blah, blah, so what is an atomizer and how long should they last?"

Really? A "whole" month?

Oh I remember spider!
The crawling spider drove me crazy, it was creepy, but he was a fun poster.

I still read here, but do not post much anymore.

What ever happened to the cigarette avatar you had?? To me it looked like someone smoking a cigarette and enjoying it with a barn door open to a sunset sky in the background!!

To me the whole vibe of the forum is different than it was before, a quiet corner of the Internet it is no more! Now we have many more a newbie discovering the electronic cigarette for the first time, where once we looked up to Leadford, Ratindahat and Tropical Bob and a few others now we can look up to Kate, igetcha, Madog and many more!!

We also have a vastly greater choice of e-liquid. When I joined you went to e-cigs.com in China for it, the USA soon after got Jane and Puresmoker and the UK had Pillbox38 and Simon supplying the stuff in fact Simon wasn't even a supplier when I joined I don't think he was just a member asking the same questions we all did!

A lot happened in the world of ecigs too! The Janty Kissbox Classic and Yentyl was an earlier one that whipped up a storm here and I remember the first review!! Then we had the USB mods and USB batteries that changed vaping at home with generics and the like forever!!

I'm a little saddened by the recent splintering of the group.
It does have a different feel around here.
I guess it was necessary for awhile, with the forum being down, and I expect the community will continue to grow and others will take their own unique direction.

I still look for posts and additions from the people you have mentioned.

TB is one of my favorites and the others give this place a sense of "home".

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the kind words, Cage. I appreciate them. I miss many, many old posters. I hope Trog comes back soon (we liked to disagree sometimes, but are really not all that different; he has the smarts -- and manners -- of a junk yard dog).

I miss KarenWest1961, Jamie, NerdyCinderella, Windblown, Janet, Spider, Gunny, Kit, The Emperor of Ice Cream (such a witty man). And I know we lost the insightful Nazareth with a thread on Bush's defeat. Naz apparently liked the Prez and took offense at much of what was posted there.

Meltrex was a buddy -- and I haven't heard from him since his father died and his e-cig business disappeared. Where's Rachel the moderator called Dnakr? What happened to MNZ from New Zealand? I want Dr. Jim Loi back to update us on his e-smoking trials in Malaysia.

There have been so many focused, bright posters. Like some have mentioned, I, too, have quit even reading newbie questions that have been answered here countless times. Read the damn forum! Much of the world's knowledge about e-smoking is found only here! Even Kate has fled to Right to Vape, so the Welcome Wagon with its cigar-smoking nun at the reins is no longer running. Kate seemed to get pleasure being the tireless Wal-mart greeter of ECF. Bless her. No one can replace her.

My question: Did any of the missing return to cigarettes?

Tbob, I was hoping you'd chime in with names from the "past".

I too miss the members you named and wondered how many have returned to analogs.

Speaking for myself, I have partially fallen off the wagon recently due mostly to my Dad slowly dying in assisted living. But once this dark period in my life is over with - I hope to return to vaping (and general wintergreen snus) full time - with only the occasional analog...

Thanks everyone for naming your favorite (now dormant) members. Keep it up!

since all the forum issues i've been back into my RCheli addiction and frequenting RCGroups.com. I frankly just gave up trying to come here the last month or so due to all the probs.
I've now past the e-cig buying addiction stage and have my ecig that just works and need no other to quench my nicotine needs.
I pop in now and then for a look see but rarely post now. But like you all i have noted an exodus of all the usuall posters.

I rarely post now, but still read often. I also miss Spider, he did come back once or twice before christmas and had gone back to analogues as he trashed his e-cig. I also miss posts from Ned and Miss Diane, Karenwest and Emp and also ice, he went to Spain on holiday and never posted again? I also miss devilfish, now he was funny even if he didn't mean to be!!

I'm still around - just don't post much. I still read the forum but as TB said, a lot of things are being covered again and again and the others are so helpful in replying, I just sit back and read.

I'm still happily vaping and have no desire to return to cigarettes. I will try to post more often so you know I am still here. :)

Rach is ALWAYS watching ;)

Haha ... Devilfish, was a pain in the rear ... When he first started, there were at least 5-10 new threads from him each and every day. I think he is the main reason the Newbie Forum was even started. Looking back ... I do miss his posts. They tended to put a smile on my face once I got past the fact that the guy really had no idea was he was talking about and his posts were genuine. :)

Look who it is ..... like I said ..... Rach is always around, and always watching :D

Speaking of which ... Karen is missed .... :( After October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) ... we really didn't hear much from her. Perhaps one post/pm every few weeks but that was about it! Hope she is doing well !!!
