I'd buy the AW 2200mAh 18650...if you wanna go cheap check the *fire brands (but remember...you get what you pay for)

as for the cr123a size...for 6V or 7.4V....6V I'd say the Aw 3V 16340 LiFePo4 and the charger for those is the wf-138 charger (the one made for that size battery with the selectable output switch)

again there's cheaper out there but you get what you pay for as far as reliability and safety..

Is there a happy medium that you could suggest?

lol not really...my battery choices I've made are based on most reliable and most safe by the math...

*fire batteries are cheaper but it's a lottery on whether they're going to be good at all or up to specs and how quickly you have to replace them...but you can get 2 of them for the same price as one AW..

as for the 6V option...I think EM carries some 3V LiFePo4 batteries in the cr123a (16340) size....but I'm not super keen on EM so I don't suggest them...in either case for a 3V battery you need a charger that has selectable output (some have a 3V -3.6V switch...some the switch says 3.6V- 4.2V) vaporkings has the charger (and they suggest the tenergy 3V batteries but I don't like the tenergy (I think they're crap))

I just ordered protected CR123 and 18650 in cheap and IMR (high current drain) sizes. Decent prices. I already have the charger so didn't really look at what they offered. I have been disappointed with Tenergy in the past for RC car batteries (rechargable AA and AAA and charger) for what its worth but never used their batteries (CR123a/18640) for vaping.
