Hi all,

I've bought vegetable glycerin from two different vendors online--one a vape shop and another from eBay. Both said USP and both had this really nasty, artificial taste that comes out when I vape just the VG and when I vape any eliquid I made with either one. Is this normal? I've read that VG isn't supposed to have any taste, but both of these were horrible! Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Anyone experience the same thing and found a source of tasteless VG that they now use? I could really use some help on this.

Thanks!
Ed

I recently ordered from Essential Depot. I've used their VG, and I quite like it :)

VG does have an inherent underlying sweetness (so I'm not sure if that's what you're detecting....) I'd mixed up some "unflavored" juice (just Nic and PG/VG) and there was a tiny (to me) bit of something there....

Thanks guys. Maybe it's just me then. Still, it's nothing I can detect in ejuices that I buy from my local vape shop--just something that tastes really bad in the stuff I mix myself. It took me awhile to figure it out--I thought my Lorann flavors were just horrible--and narrowed it down once I tried vaping just the VG. I think I'll take one more shot at it before giving up on DIY altogether.

Actually, one of the bottles of VG I was referring to was from MFS.

VG is naturally sweet when vaped alone I find.
I order a lot from Myfreedomsmokes.
I have a friend on YouTube that orders from here. Cheap prices, but watch out for shipping. $13.40 for 10lbs of VG, but shipping is about the same price as the vg itself.
Glycerin | Bulk Apothecary

I wish it were naturally sweet to me. I've tried two from two different sources and they're very similar in their disgusting soap-tasting nastiness. Actually, it's worse than soap.

Thanks all! I ordered more VG and PG from Essential Depot. Really good prices.

On another note, I think I figured out how to counteract the VG nastiness, at least for my taste buds. I went much lower on the VG. I was way up there at an 85/15 VG/PG ratio on the liquids I was referring to--since I had thought I had a PG allergy (I now know it's just seasonal allergies making my throat hurt after a night of post-nasal drip). I kicked it back to 50/50 and added 10% alcohol. This made ALL the difference. Completely disguises what my taste buds were finding disgusting. My Big League Chew eliquid is perfect now! Been chain-vaping the heck out of it. Never quite expected that my favorite ADV would be a DIY.

I have used the Essential Depot brand from Amazon and had good results with it - just started DIY so my experience is limited thus far, but I also ended up picking up VG from nudenicotine when placing a nic order, and think I may actually prefer that in the long run - pricing is similar/ better from nudenic and it is pharma grade VG - thus far, pretty impressed with nudenicotine products and service both
