I met a guy at the bar the other night and he had an e-cig so I figured I would try it but I have no idea what any of you are talking about.... haha

I found a few places but I'm not sure what to do... I just read the do not buy trials thread and that's what made me sign up because I was about to do just that. Thanks for saving me from that!

heres a couple I found

electroniccigarettereviews says to get green smoke??? seems a little to much $$
then I found officialelectroniccigarettes.com and there stuff is pretty cheap seems good to me
but then I found this site that was selling a starter kit for like 29$ I have no idea what to do I just want to try it out and see if I even like it but I don't wanna end up with something crappy that nobody likes...

HELP!?

Try cignot.com they have a great price on the 510 kit for $35. If you decide to get that don't forget to get some e-liquid to fill your cartridges.

Welcome to the forum Steve and congrats on finding us BEFORE you purchased anything! Definately check out the Loooonnnnngg list of approved suppliers listed in the forum. I use heaven-gifts.com for all my 901 needs. They are inexpensive but good products and take a little longer to get here all the way from China but you could use that time to learn more here while you wait.

I agree with Jenn. Great place to start and you can't go wrong with the 510. Juice is the many different flavors and strength you can refill your cartridges. Much cheaper than buying the pre-fill, unless your very lazy and have an open wallet :). I would also recommend getting a PCC to keep your batteries charge.

Best

I started researching ecigs about a year ago, bought too many sub par starter kits and waisted alot of money. I finally quit smoking in september, thanks to this forum and all the helpful people in it. Check out thjs link for some very helpful info on some of the more popular starter kits.....

Having signed up to this forum less than 24 hours ago... my only piece of advice for you at this stage is to read read read.

I've been reading this site nonstop for the past week, and finally this morning settled on (and ordered) my first purchase.

I would read until you feel you really understand the differences out there... and then buy as little as you need to get started. I get the feeling that I"ll be trying out a couple of different models before I settle on something ... so i would get the idea of finding the 'perfect' model out of your head right now, until you have some first hand experience.

I'm not sure what your perspective is, but I'll tell you the best piece of advice I read on here over and over that hit home for me - don't look for a model that mimics the size of a cigarette (or at least don't make that a priority). That was my thought at first, and it will not only severly limit your choices, but will also lead you towards models that will have inherent limitations (smaller size = smaller battery, etc).

Don't think of these things as cigarettes - they are entirely different beasts.
Read all the stickies in the different model forums on this site - and try to narrow down your choices to a few models, then go through the reviews sections and see what you think.

In the end, I settled on the starter kit from cignot for the 510.
At just around $40, I figure it was a worthwhile investment considering I easily spend more than that right now on 'analog' cigarettes a week.

The other thing I would mention, if you haven't noticed already, is that a lot of sites out there that claim to be 'review sites' are actually written by companies as advertisements. Personally, once I found this forum I did all my research here - people may not always agree, but at least I can be relatively certain that most users here aren't pushing a specific agenda other than their own opinion.

Welcome aboard - and good luck.

I would like to first say, Thank You All! You guys are all really great and I appreciate the feed back. Some of it has been waaaaaay confusing but for the most part I think I'm getting there but I still have a few questions.

So I now know the difference between a manual and an automatic and i'm pretty sure I'm going with an auto to start.

Here's my question tho: So I went to the home page and started going thru the sellers there and I got scared! haha the thing I just don't get is why there are sooooo many of them and what the hey makes them different? Are some better made than others? Like this site here Vaporsticks - what is the difference from that sites product to this site: thesmokelessshop.com/ ???

I just don't want to order one and find out a week later that I got the "crappy" one. How do you know what is better?

I'm starting to think I should just find a place that has some kind of return policy and testing it out and sending it back before I decide what to keep.... that's kind of uuummm shady tho. hahaha

I'm still reading tho so maybe all of this will become clear to me later. I guess we will see.

Thanks for the info tho its been a big help.

just found out I cant post URL's :( oops
