What 'you' and the World label 'religious views' I call 'relationship' ... not views. God's word is the light and His Commandments are my path. The 'label' does not fit, but I did understand the 'message' you were conveying with it.
Blonde, the lable religious view
does fit. There are TONS of other religions in the world. There are many political leanings too. The particular political group one may associate themselves with is/can be described as their "politcial view". Just like your religious "view". So while you say you understand my point... its quite obvious that you dont.
God's views according the ten commandments which are God's laws. These are the laws that convict of us of what is right or wrong (Sin). You can't tell me that there is no sin because all one has to do is look around to be aware of it. There is 'evil' even when there are people who refuse to 'see' or 'acknowledge' it.
Missed point again Blonde. Sorry, but you're 0 for 2. Sin, as I said, is a CHRISTIAN DOCTRIN. I can tell you (from my view) that there is no sin. Because I dont subscribe to christian doctrin. What you may call sin, I may call human nature.
Are you to say you have no sin in your Life? You've never lied, cheated or stolen? Never lusted after a Woman in your mind? There is no hate, rape murders or wars?
Case in point. Christianity labled the things you just mentioned as sin. Lying is not a sin to me. Lying can be a mechinism used for a varity of reasons. And in some cases, lying is necessary. Cheating? On what? A school test? No. And what if I had? Still isnt a sin. Stolen... yep... once when I was 13. I stole a model car from a discount store. Now I've made a career of catching people who steal. Lusting after women... this is another act that christianity put the sin stamp on. I believe its human nature to find many different people attractive. Scientific studies have shown that we as a race are prewired with a desire to carry on our genes. When we were just hairy ape like creatures... lusting after other women was how we secured our future. So to me, no sin involved with looking at an attractive women and having a 3 second thought about her. Which coincidentally has ALSO been studied. Most men who see a women and think she is attractive, give her about 3 seconds of thought. Its also been shown that men have about one sexual thought every 15 minutes to some degree while women come in at about one sexual thought every two hours. It should be noted that these studies made no indication of the religious views of the particpants.
So no. I have commited no sin by lusting. I've commited human nature.
Your 'world view' is just that Vapor Pete... a very popular (and increasingly) so "I am God" World View. This was one of the original Sins, when Satan attempted to exalt himself to the very throne of the most high YahWeh God.
Sooooo, I have a 'world view'... but Im incorrect to use 'religious views' to describe your religious.... view? Dont worry, Im not looking for an answer to that actually. What I will say, is that no where... no how.... never... have I ever said "I am god". You see, to me, gods, of any religion, are not real. Therefor, I cannot be one. And any true atheist would agree. No atheist is proclaiming to be a god... its an oxymoran. I cant reject the notion of santa clause, and then claim to be santa clause. And so it is with your assertion as well.
Are you willing to bet what you 'think' is worth your eternal Soul? If you're wrong I lose nothing, If I'm right you lose everything
The standard showing of Pascals Wager. Sorry Blonde... no offense... but it doesnt cut it with me.
Don't you think it's worth re-examining 'what' you believe and on 'whom' you put your trust?
Nope. I've examined, re-examined, re-read, and re-thought it all. As I said to you before, I have my truth. A truth arrived at after careful examination, critical thinking and cognitive reasoning. It just doesnt agree with your truth.
I'm sorry you were insulted. Would you be insulted if I stopped your 'child' from being struck by an oncoming Car?
I dont think you are sorry for insulting me, since your attempting to justify it.
And if you wish for me to be honest with you, I'll have to say that the justification you used here... child being hit by car... is a text book response. I've heard that question, almost verbatim, too many times to count.
... I witness to non-believers because I believe I am saving them 'from' eternal separation from God and damnation.
Be honest with yourself for a moment Blonde.... Have you saved more non-believers than you've turned away? Do you find that MORE people embrace your religious witnessing, than roll their eyes and just listen until you're done so they can politely tell you they're not interested? Im just wondering. Seriously wondering.
As for the rest of your post, its really just more of the same speech. Again, if Im to be honest here, you claim to see my points, yet seem to severely miss them. I think I know why though. You would never once give me (or any atheist) the benefit of the doubt when discussing these matters. Which is fine, so long as you're ok with short lived discussions. If Im going to give you the benefit of the doubt (which Im unfairly required to do by default) to see your points about god and christianity, the same should be afforded to me, otherwise... for you (or anyone) to claim you see my points, is a lie.
At that, I suppose I'll have to bow out by defeat. With all due respect, I cannot move forward in my discourse with you if your going to acknowledge my points with a fleeting mention only to bury them in biblical ramblings. That is not an exchange of thoughts my dear. Im sorry. You've defeated me.
Feel free to pray to your hearts content. You can rest your head knowing your praying for me, and I'll rest mine knowing that it wont make a tinkers bit of difference
Enjoy,
-VP
