The VTC 5's have been gone for a long time now :( There are a lot of good choices I like LG HE4's now, there 20 amps 2500 mah and you can get them for about 6 bucks a piece :) If you need higher amps a VTC4 is a 30 amp battery but only 2100 mah
I ordered 2 for HE4's for 12 bucks!

Thanks

Are the VTC 5 all that and a bag of chips? I really wanted some last year, but was afraid of imposters, so I went with the 35 amp efest, which were not really 35 amp, just peak, and they were rebranded LG batteries. No complaints though. I can't imagine any battery being THAT much better, but if so, I'm game!

on second thought, nevermind. I can see this turning into an "oil thread". Anyone that had been on any power sport or car forum knows what I mean. Lmao.

It won't turn into that lol. Yes, VTC5's were awesome. They had a 30A continuous output vs the LG's 20A, and the highest mah for any TRUE 30A I'm aware of.

Samsung 25r! Rated amps is lower but they have been torture tested to 40A continuous with no problem. 2400 mAh also!! They aren't quite a vtc5 but do the job very well I think the new aspire Mir batts have a high discharge rating but low capacity. Might be worth a look.

Anyway as far as I know Sony havent manufactured vtc5s for a good while so any you see are almost certainly rewraps/fakes.

Genuine VTC5's have been out of circulation for so long...... if Kazuo Hirai himself bought me a brace of saké, sat down, produced a certificate of authenticity signed in blood, skewered on the end of a 500 year old Katana. I might believe it was authentic, maybe not.

Illumn claims they just got some VTC5's in. Limited stock, though.

Yup. FWIW, if Illumn thinks they are authentic my bet is they are. I do think they've got stock from 2014 (or maybe a bit earlier), but batteries last longer than that.

Here's a link to them if anyone is interested. Price is $10 each.

Whatever you do steer very clear of Aspires batteries.. Id rather have a box full of Efests over those even.

ok but why you say that?? In any case, the new LG HG2s look really good but not available in UK as yet. Apparently samsung have a new one coming out at some point!
