I just ordered myself a hcigar nemesis clone from 101vapes. This will be my first mech mod. Now I need to get some batteries and a charger.

I'm looking at an xtar vp1 charger.. I want to be as safe as possible there and this seems to be pretty damn good compared to the other chargers I've looked at.

I want to get some 18650 batteries. I'd like to try some sub ohm builds, but it won't be something I'm doing all the time.. I'd like to get one battery that can handle sub ohm builds and a couple that I can use for every day vaping around 1.5 ohms or so (maybe with a dual coil?)

So where is the best place to pick up some 18650's? For the every day batteries I'd really prefer AW IMR (they are believed to be the safest right?) as for sub ohming I'd like some advice on what to pick up and where to get one. again, I'd like to be as safe as possible.

any help is greatly appreciated everyone!

i found some aw imr's on amazon, do you guys think it would be fairly reasonable that they would be ok?
AW batteries are the most counterfeited batteries in the world. To help combat this, AW has changed their "AW" sticker from a black background to a hologram. Note the differences in the stickers from the older batteries and the newer ones. Also pay attention to the printed lettering on the battery wrapper. They should look like these authentic AW IMR batteries:

aw18650-2000mAh.jpg older AW battery (pre-2014). Some vendors may still have these in stock.

AW IMR 18650.jpg new battery with hologram AW sticker

Authentic AW batteries can be purchased via RTD Vapor, Illumination Supply, and Provape.

thank you so much. those batteries had the black label on them.. Don't really want to chance it so I won't order them from Amazon... but I can't find AW IMR's on illumination supply anywhere? Am i just a dumb dumb and not looking in the right place or do they not have any in stock?

I would much rather get things in one place then buy two batteries here with a shipping charge then a battery here with a shipping charge then a charger here with a shipping charge. I'm really so very far from being a rich man. RTD seems marked up from everywhere else on most everything lol. arg

I don't think Illumination Supply sells AW batteries. For AW IMR batteries that are genuine buy from RTD vapor or Provape.

that sucks.. Why does all of this have to be so difficult... annoying really

if there's only three places to get them how does aw stay in business? (that was meant to be sarcastic.. I figure they probably sell them through other means... still ridiculous tho.)

sick of the words out of stock..

provape is even more marked up then rtd.. .... shouldn't be surprised i guess

thank you. I've seen a hundred posts around here looking for info on batteries the last week or so where you've been a rockstar and given more help than could be asked for. I really do appreciate it here. when i said i hate the words out of stock I was referring to the sony 18650 that was suggested in the first reply. they have it at rtd, just not in stock. It's just been a running theme in my life the last few days

RTD cant be beat for their customer service, shipping times and prices on batteries.

The post office recently misplaced my Priority mail package for 10 days. Its showed up at the local distribution center then just disappeared. Luckily I recieved it on Monday.

Throughout the entire ordeal, Randy from RTD stayed in constant contact with me and did what he could on his end to help even though the fault was with the postal service. We must have exchanged at least 5 letters and he was supportive, helpful and encouraging throughout.

Cant say anything but good things about them each and ever time Ive used them.

AW 18650 IMR 1600mAh batteries are 24 amp continuous discharge rate, good for sub-ohm builds, and are in stock.

thank you! I already placed my order and had gone downstairs to eat, so i hadn't seen this. I sent a message through the site to ask if there's any way I can add an item to the order. hopefully they get back to me and I can get it in the same shipment.. If not I'll just wait until next month and put it in the vape budget for then.

Just wanted to say RTD Vapor is pretty damn awesome. as I said above I hadn't noticed the 18650 1600mah AW IMR because I was so focused on the sony18650 that they didn't have. Completely my error, I screwed up. Baditude helped out by posting the link to the 18650 1600mah aw imr and I really wanted something I could do a sub ohm build or two on.. so i ran back and sent a ticket in on my order asking if one battery could be added to the order.

They couldn't add it on their side of things, but they did go to the trouble of putting a credit on my account for the shipping, and holding the shipment of the order I placed yesterday, so that I could order what i need and they could throw it in the box with what I got yesterday.

I've done quite a bit of online shopping and I've yet to have another company jump so quick and far to help a person get a 10 dollar item and avoid an extra shipping charge of 3 dollars. I can't say enough about these guys now. very very pleased.
