Where to go from starter kit EVOD

I only have an EVOD starter kit set up. I'm happy with it, but curious/clueless about all the options out there. Opinions on getting other set ups? By far my biggest factor is flavor, flavor, flavor and if I am going to spend the money I'd like to know if there is something out there that is going to make a big difference in the taste of my juices.

I started with an evod which is great but have now stepped up to a ego and vision spinner which is awesome

Flavor that's the key to it all. It's not gear.. or equipment or anything but flavor. My local shops < 80 mi round trip > have tons of flavors to try. Well worth the trip to find out what you might ... and I do say might .. enjoy. Then you can take it up a notch with your gear, but there's lots of enjoyment to be had with a simple Evod and eGo type battery. It's all I use. Well that and a mini pro tank II, as the heads all interchange. Life is grand when you find the right all day vape.

I went from an Evod kit (which I still use everyday) to an Innokin Itaste MVP2. It's a very simple device with variable voltage and wattage. I can honestly say the vape is better with the MVP2 over an Evod battery using the exact same tank. Being able to adjust how much power and having it stay consistent makes a world of difference.

Another thing to consider some day is rebuilding the Evod coils. I only use coils that I rebuild (32 gauge, 2.3 Ohm, 1.4 mm microcoils wicked with cotton) the flavor and vapor production from a rebuilt blows the stock coils out of the water!

there's the option of the mod world. a reasonable place to start seems to be the mvp 2.0 as you don't have to buy extra batteries as an up front cost. i don't own one personally, but the price is reasonable $40-$45 to get started from various places. other vv/vw apvs are also excellent, but you have to spend a bit extra on batteries and a charger so it's really do you or don't you want to spend a bit more. i do have a Sigelei ZMAX V3 and i absolutely love it.
as far as tanks, i'm VERY fond of the protank 2 with the aerotank base. i also rebuild my own coils for them and micro coils made a while .... load of difference in the flavor department. science is totally what makes it better, that info is out there, i'm just not going to ramble as to why.
but that's just one dude's opinion as to a route you can go from an ego set up.

im constantly trying to find vape nirvana..im getting there..well im getting closer
for me the transition to vaping so quick 2 days and i quit smoking. i got a vv mod in the first 3 weeks after a ego kit wasent cutting it
for me my purchase of a provari was bliss but not everyone can afford them nor do you really need one but i needed a bullet proof mod
and most are not..but they do work..lol not as well IMO.

If you're happy with the setup and it's working for you, then there's no reason you have to change it. But, if you want to, a VV eGo style is a great step up and allows you to use all your existing heads. Mods are great too, but I think they're a little overhyped here. What they do is allow you to get into things your eGo's won't...like RDA's/RBA's, which are a fair bit more advanced and you can run typical 510 tanks (e.g. Pro-Tank) more ergonomically. They also get better battery life.

I think a good next step has been mentioned. Rebuilding the Kanger style coils is a good introduction to the concept and primes you fairly well for RDA's and RBA's knowledge, tool and skill-wise. It's not that difficult and after a bit of practice, you can definitely do better than stock. Buy-in to do it isn't that expensive, depending on how "pro" you want to go. Your basics are 32 gauge Kanthal and silica wick in 1, 2 and 3mm to play around with. Upgrades from there are Ekowool, cotton wicks, maybe a dedicated Ohm meter and perhaps a chef torch to clean things up...the latter two making things faster, really. Plus, learning this allows you to get your ongoing expenses down pretty low...Kanthal and wick aren't expensive at all.

I just started making my own micro and nano coils with 28 gauge kanthol and organic cotton. Rebuilt a pro tank 2 and am also rocking a trident clone on my nemesis mechanical with a kick 2. All my juices taste a ton better so I definitely can echo the others comments regarding building your own. Check riptrippers you tube videos to learn how, I find his videos to be really good instructional wise. Also recently ordered juice from Zeus and it is very tasty so far and hasn't even steeped!

I would go straight to a mod from here and hop right in on the apv train. While confusing at first, its well worth it. A great start is a mod like the vamo, the svd, and the mvp2. All below 60$, they woll offer a great vape. That paired with either a pro tank, carto tank, or head tank (nautalius), youll be set. Pm if you have questions!

I'll throw in a vote for the MVP 2. Great upgrade from ego batts, can run any type of topper, and great battery life.

Have you thought about cartotanks? I get the best flavor from those no matter what its on.
Aside from that, time to look at vv devices. I would reccomend the itaste over the spinner, but thats just me. Price is almost the same but a little more tech in the itaste vv3.

That's maybe the biggest 'disadvantage' of vaping : So many choices, so many avenues to explore that it can get a bit overwhelming at first. But the journey to your personal setup and preferred liquid is half the fun.

I started with a friends v2 ecig, an evod and an ego, and then I upgraded to a mechanical mod and a dripper. I still use the the evod and the ego frequently because they're great for taking with you on-the-go and they're discrete. For a while I used to use/borrow a friends mini protank 2 (until he cracked the tank), but honestly, I preferred the evod lol.

Also, if you want the best flavor with the evod/protank heads, in my opinion, you should re-build the evod head with a micro-coil and cotton wick.

As for upgrading your set-up, I would stick with the evod and ego, at least for the time-being. Save your money and spend it on another device down the line (RBA or RDA, which arguably have the best flavor and all-around vape).

carto tanks are a pain in the behind in my opinion. Not much difference in flavor versus a good tank system with decent coils.

The OP asked about an EVOD starter set.

my contribution is that my OPINION for someone wanting a starter set is to NOT get a carto tank. Yes it is a good system - but it is not night and day different between other options. Carto tanks are higher maintenance to fill and if you dont get them primed good and you burn your wick they never taste right after that.

I would not recommend a carto tank to new vaper. I would recommend Iclear16 or 30, EVOD, Mini-protank. There are lots of good other choices for a starter kit.

My coil turned bright red while vaping, then my battery started flashing. It won't turn off or charge it flashes when I put evod back on it or try to charge it... Is it broke? I'm using a evod starter kit

I also started out with an Evod kit, then got a few T3s tanks and a mini pro tank 2.2. I was missing the flavor also, so I got the VV Evod battery and still really get the flavor I was looking for when I first started. I found this on ebay with free shipping for $40.98 The iTaste MVP 2.0. got the flavor back, using the same tanks... Plus now I can look for a 510 tank to use with it.

There is no reason to not use carto tanks, barring personal preference. I used them on my Ego Twists. A little to learn, but after that it is really easy. Here is some info if you are interested.

ETA: The OP is looking for better flavor. They are not likely to find that in a different clearo, but will find that by trying something else, such as a carto tank.
