Tried Capellas Coffee Bean tonight. In order to get the taste of coffee the alcohol in the flavoring comes through.

Using a base of PG/VG at 2:1, 24mg, best attempt was 6 drops/ml. But as I said at that much I can taste the alcohol. It's OK but it aint coffee!

What do the rest of you use for simple coffee flavor?

I still haven't found a good coffee flavor either and I have tried Capella's Coffee Bean and Kahlua and Cream and Bickford's Coffee (tasted like burnt rubber). I like the Coffee Bean mixed with a little Boston Cream Pie in the mix, but like you said, it's not Coffee. If anyone finds a good one let me know. I may have to break down and buy commercial e-liquid for the coffee flavor, because it was one of my favs.

Always good to have validation Moonflame. That darn Coffee Bean smelled so right-on when I mixed it I was holding out that perhaps I had proportions wrong or something. Added some chocolate and it's a good approximation of a mocha.

I use Lorann's Keoke Coffee, but it does have caramel coloring. I don't care.. I like the flavor and it's the one I use 99% of the time :)

I did search through the DIY forum for awhile and yours makes for the 3rd or 4th reference to Lorann's Keoke. S'pose I'll need to give it a shot. A little bit of coloring is one thing, as long as it's not some inky-black sludge! I actually got some pre-made recently that was just that. Actual viscosity was OK but the stuff was the color and taste of india ink. Nasty.

Thanks!

The Keoke Coffee is a dark brown, but I have a lot of other Lorann flavorings (with no coloring added) and the Keoke Coffee is actually lighter in color than some of the other flavors. I have a professional cake decorating shop locally where I get my flavors, and they sell mostly the smallest sized bottles, but they do carry the Keoke Coffee in a larger size... I go through a lot of it! :hubba:

Thanks for that mixxy. Now all I need to do is decide on a couple of other flavors to try to make it worth while to place an order. Also need to keep an eye out for local shops that may carry the stuff.

Thanks again

The best coffee I've found to date (right outta the bottle) is from TW 36mg.
I cut it with 15 - 20% Wilsons VG and then add four or five drops of the unflavored 36mg (also from TW). So far it has the best taste, vapor production and aftertaste.

I tried extracting flavor from beans soaked in VG without a lot of luck. Also tried a cold drip method of VG over cracked beans (Like Cold Brew Coffee). Not so bad but still not there.

Hey Brock
I've still not tried anything from TW but if the Lorann Keoke doesn't work for me I'll have to check em' out. Thanks for the insight!

if you want to get any flavor outta coffee beans your gunna need to use a hot liquid.. that being said I'm not so sure it would be the best idea either way, as coffee has a lot of oils and would most likely be a surefire way to kill your atty.

Just got an idea from a previous post if anyone wants to try it.

BrockJ was talking about a cold brew over cracked beans..

If some one has the time try useing a very finly ground bean and soaking it is COLD water or vodka (or everclear w/e). I figure the problems he was having could be combated by a finer gind and the use of something other than vg as it is rather think and I dont think it would absord the flavour as well.
As a huge bonus, cold brew with have very little to no oil (and thats the only reason im suggesting this)

Anyway, if you give it a try tell me how it tatses.
