where's the vapor?

So i ordered 2 rebuildable atomizers (a phoenix v1 and v2). I got them and tried them with the factory coils, HORRIBLE burnt taste, and i realized they wrapped the wire way too tightly around the wick. So i decided i'd give it a shot and build my own. First coil I built was a 1.9ohm (checked on the provari) ok i think, that's pretty good. I built the other one and it is around 1.3ohm, i have probably built around 5 working coils, free of hot spots and what not. But my issue is I cannot seem to get vapor production. I mean it's just not at all what i was thinking, the flavor is ok and stuff, but man there is just no vapor atleast not what im use to (use carto tanks), is there something i'm doing wrong? any advice? Please help I want so much for this to work.

the air hole may not be lining up correctly. that and the air hole is way small...i drilled mine out

could be a wicking problem also, in all mine i use a 3mm wick now and they vape up a storm. that and the air like said, it has to blowing on the coil or close to it for maximum vapor production.

even if your rewrapping coils those piddly factory wicks just plain blow in most atty's

Agreed, the lining up of the air hole makes a huge difference. I use the o-ring from a drip tip to make it easier to align. Put it below the threads and turn until it's aiming right at the coil.

3mm wick is also the way to go.

thanks guys! yeah this thing has a horrible design, since it threads on the airhole is automatically not aligned it's kind of kitty corner to the wick. i have unscrewed it a little to align it, but it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference. I think im going to get some bigger wick and give it a shot

could i also take 2 thinner strands of wick and wrap the coil around those? would that help?

i tried that before it doesnt seem to really do much but always worth a shot though, kinda twist them together a bit first., i even tore open a couple nova heads trying that.
i almost tossed my A7 until i decided to try some 3mm and then was like whoa!

who sells 3mm silica? most places only seem to have 1.5, 2 and 2.5. any suggestions?

i think i got it um... check RTDVAPOR think its out of stock though.

but theres always wick and wire floating around here.

Thanks Thrasher. Man im still having one hell of a time with this. I have made probably 20 coils in the last 24 hours and every single one of them reads right around 2 ohms. I'm using 2.5mm silica, 34g kanthal around 3 wraps maybe 4 but more like 3. I just can't get any vapor off of this thing. it's pitiful, is it for sure the wick you think? im really getting frustrated and wish I knew what was up.

The hole is way too small on the Phoenix IMO. I like 1/16" on all my RBA's but a lot of people find it too airy. Dremel makes a mini drill bit set with small sizes - 628-01 Drill Bit Set / Model: 628-01

Try 3/64", it's a good middle ground.
