I have a few 510 mega cartomizers to try on my Riva that should be here soon, is it okay to use those on the Riva? Also which regular sized cartomizer should I try with the Riva.. I don't want to blow anything up and would like to throw one in the cart to try out when I make my next juice purchase. Cotton candy is pretty good and I think I'll try the Chinese 555, is this in any way comparable to BWB 555?

When the atty/carto is working correctly it will work great on the Riva. The real issue is when the atty/carto starts to die and gets to be too low resistance. I know from experience that 1 Ohm is low enough to blow up a Riva, while 1.5 works nicely. I just got a new Riva, and from now on I'll be periodically checking my atties with a meter. If they fall anywhere below 1.4 they're going in the bin.

Any atty, and presumably carto, can fail in a way to cause the resistance to fall too low and blow up a Riva (eGo, etc...). It's not just the LR ones, although because they run hotter they probably have a higher chance of failing in this way.

Never tried BWB (yet) but from what I've heard the Chinese 555 won't hold a candle to theirs. Personally I can't stand any of the Chinese flavors, too chemical-ey. The wife likes Dekang menthol though.

I've read where some have lost 2 batts in a row from bad ones :(

I'm one of 'em. Out of town for the weekend and Saturday morning neither of my Rivas would take a charge. No warning, didn't notice reduced runtime, didn't notice extra heat or burned flavor. Backup KR8 stuff was 350 miles away. After returning home an autopsy confirmed popped MOSFETs in both. So I bought a Box Mod Kit from MadVapes which is now my duty PV ;) (the replacement Riva is solely for being stealthier)

Yup. Here's some very intersting reading on the subject, from the famous "Battery Voltages" thread by Scottbee. Bottom line, any carto can short and kill your Riva, but LR cartos are even more dangerous than standard ones. If you own a multimeter, you may want to occasionally check the resistance of your atty. As Rudforce said, if you're getting close to 1Ω, don't even think about it.
