Nomoreash is right. To elaborate, PG and VG are food-grade dilutants. PG is Propylene Glycol, which is used in inhalers, fog machines, and as a dilutant for medicines and flavorings. VG is vegetable glycerine, which is used for things like store-bought cake frosting (keeps it moist). Everything but the nicotine (and a small handful of flavorings) are on the FDA's Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) list.

There can also sometimes be a bit of distilled water or pure grain alcohol used to thin high-VG juices.

Note - the nicotine supposedly can still contain some of the chemicals from growing tobacco. Ditto for Tobacco Absolute flavorings which I think are extracted from tobacco but not for the totally artificial tobacco flavorings.

The main thing some people seem to watch out for is diacetyl, which is a common food flavoring that is *sometimes* found in the liquids. AFAIK it's more of a butter flavoring, so you likely won't encounter it except in very gourmet/foody liquids, but it's worth noting that over time inhaling diacetyl can lead to lung problems. Some things that are perfectly safe to ingest aren't so great to inhale, i.e. water!

Vaping seems generally pretty safe, and it's almost certainly better than smoking analogs! If you're paranoid like me, however, you'll be happy to know that a few places offer organic juices. :D One place even has an organic nutella flavor. Otherwise, rock on as you please. :)

Can is the keyword there, so far there is no conclusive evidence as the levels are far below the levels that caused the "popcorn workers lung" issue. Some studies that were done would show that the levels in juices (that do contain it) are safe, where other studies seem to say that no level is safe.
