I think for my first mod I'm going with a little boy rda (infinite clone), but I can't decide which actual mod to buy, a Manhattan, stingray X, hades, or a phantus mini box mod (all infinite clones), which should I go with?

Those are all mech mods; for your first mod and especially for rebuilding, I'd suggest a regulated mod.

As much as I love my Stingray X, it's not a mod I would recommend to someone new to vaping. The switch, while innovative, is a huge pain in the ..... It's a love/hate relationship... LoL I have it working well now, but it requires a lot of TLC.

I kind of agree with edyle here though, I'd take a serious look at a regulated mod. Something like an iPV Mini V2 or a Sigelei 50W. I wouldn't go too over the top, but the regulated mods are going to be more forgiving for a novice rebuilder til you get the hang of things.

With a mechanical, once you build the coil if it doesn't perform how you expect, you have to start over again. With a regulated mod, you can adjust to compensate for miscalculations in resistance.

Just something to think about :)

Good luck!

While I'd also suggest a regulated mod, it would be for battery life and regulated performance - not because it's your first mod. My first mod was a mech mod after switching from an ego starter.
If you're dead set on a mech mod and need information about them then we can point you in the right direction to get the information that you need to stay safe and enjoy it.

USA. State: Inebriated.
Again, I recommend a regulated mod. Won't even get into it in length.

In terms of your list, Manhattan clones can be good depending on the manufacturer. Infinite makes them? I didn't know/don't know their quality. The "Fuhattan" seems like a good clone.

The Stingray clone is low quality, on par with Nemesis. Do not buy.

Hades clones seem alright, haven't heard TOO much about them. I do know the clones don't have quite the same heft as the authentics.

Never heard of the Phantus mini box mod, no advice there.

Pro's for a regulated mod (vs mechanical) are the voltage regulation (vape experience remains the same throughout the battery life regardless of the charge on the battery), safety (built-in short circuit protection - the mod will refuse to fire if a short is detected or the coil resistance is lower than the amp limit of the processor), built-in voltage and ohm meters, and often usb charging ability (as opposed to using replaceable batteries which require a separate box charger).

Con's of a mechanical mod are no microprocesser safety protection (the mod will fire the atomizer even if there is a short or if the coil is drawing more amps than the battery has available, and therefore allowing a potentially catastrophic situation to occur), no built-in voltage or ohm meters, requires replaceable batteries and a box charger for lithium chemistry batteries. If you don't know what you are doing with a mechanical mod when problems occur, you can endanger yourself and others from a venting battery or mod explosion.

Id say go with the Manhattan Or FUhattan. I love the switch on these, 1 of my favorites ever.

Im not gonna try swayying you from a mech, gonna just tell you to read and watch alot of safety videos on youtube. Also get a decent ohm meter meter, theyre cheap. Id also recomend starting with 28g kanthal. Goto illumn.com or orbtronix and order some high drain IMR batteries. 1 think you dont skimp on is batteries they are cheap enough to beging with

I have been contemplating picking up the SMOK XPro M65 Looks solid and price is right. this will be my first "box mod" I am still getting used to terminology. I think it is best looking and most feature rich without looking cheap and tacky.

That's basically a big battery with features.

Should be a good first mod, but a better long term mod is a replaceable battery mod using 18650 batteries
