Hey all,

Could someone please advise?

I'm getting fed up of all this waste of vaping hardware, and having to think ahead to replace stuff so I don't get caught out. My 510/eGo threaded batteries are semi-disposable items, I get about 2 months off them. The disposable CE9 cleaomisers aren't rebuildable, and either they die after 6 weeks or I replace them to change flavours. I've got a Vv 510 -thread battery now, but the lifespan of that unit is still limited. It just feels like too much waste...

So obviously for me a mod is required, or at least something where I can just replace the batteries, eg. 18350. It has to be Vv because I love to find the sweet spot for different juices. So I will prob go for a ProVari mini but that choice isn't set in stone.

As for the tank, I vape fairly thick, dark VG juices (PG allergy sufferer), and inevitably get a lot of gunk accumulating which will need cleaning regularly. So do I go for something like a a Kanger Protank 2 (seen bad reviews though), Boge F17, or EVOD (but those are still in the realms of replacing hardware, ie atomisers). I'm tempted to go for a rebuildable, like the AGA-T2 or RSST, then I can clean and rebuild more often. Maybe someone has other recommendations for the tank?

Then there's no waste! Although a bit of a n00b it looks fairly simple to create a mesh wick and wrap a coil and work the hot spots out, or at least, simple with a bit of practise. But I wonder if mesh is the best wicking material for think, dark VG juices? Maybe there's a better way.

I know this all sounds expensive, but I'm spending a fortune on entry-level gear and getting sub-optimal vapour off it, I'm sure it'll kinda pay for itself after a while. Or to put it more honestly, my shinyitis has got the better of me and I want an excuse to go ahead and buy this stuff.

Cheers :)

between here and there
Welcome to ecf. If you want the most dependable vaping mod then the provari is it. I happen to own several of them and am happy to report have never had a moments problem.(hope i didn't just jinx myself..lol). I have and do use a Kanger Protank2. And I must say it is the easiest tank system I have used. And I am a carto-tank person(for the last 2 yrs). Every part of the pt is replaceable. Using darker/thicker ejuice will gunk up any tank or carto that you use quicker than a clear ejuice. Just the way it is.
There are cheaper vv/vw mods out there. You could take a look at the Itaste MPV2. Battery will last days between charges. And very inexpensive.

Good luck
:)

over the road
I almost always use my Protank II perched on my Provari. But I wrap my own coils (4 wraps of 28ga kanthal) and use a cotton wick. Never had a flood or gurgle or a leak yet. Flavor is great and all in all a good setup I think. I have tried many tanks and cartos but always come back to this. Just today for kicks ran some straight Vg and didnt have any issues other then tasting like plain vg (yuck). But it worked great. I get about 4 tanks of 50/50 thru it before I replace cotton and usually only cause I left my mod on a high voltage after using my dripper and burnt the cotton some.

MVP is also passthru..don't even have to wait between charges.:)

If you go with cartomizers, since you use a thicker liquid, your best bet would be smoktek or ikenvape. Boge has a really tight filler in their cartomizers. This causes wicking problems. Check out the iclear 30. I'm not an atomizer user, but I would gladly pick this over any of them. I don't like pro tanks, but that is just from my experience/opinion. An atomizer produces a more milky, looser cloud of vapor. I feel like I get more flavor and throat hit out of cartomizer tanks. Don't try to clean cartomizers. They're disposable..throw them away when they're beat.

If you get a rebuildable, I have to recommend the AGI. It can function as a genesis style and RDA.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
I love my Kanger Protank 2 and as soon as I received it I ordered another.

The reason I even bought the Kanger Protank 2 was because it was highly recommended after I did MY research online. Sure, there are a couple of bad stories here and there but the good far outweigh the bad.

I've had NO leakage with mine and no trouble whatsoever, plus it's pyrex so I can use the juices that can be hard on other materials.

Step up to a good rba. Then you can do the micro or nano coil boggie, or any build one desires. Replacing coil build will cost pennies, and you'll end up giving your Protanks away. Also don't get another ego, get a good VV device that will last you years. Make sure it has an ohm meter built in so you can check your coil builds with ease. The only thing I use from my pt 2 is the drip tip. lol otherwise it just collects dust. Gave my other pt to a friend who was having problems. Don't get me wrong, the PT is a good beginners tank, and works good.

I'm currently running the Russian rba on top of my Provari and loving it.

I would think a VV Reo paired with a micro coil/cotton ball wicked RDA might work best for you. Using the Reo to feed an RDA avoids finicky tank feeding which seems to be the norm with thick juices in any tank system. An RDA with micro coils produces both great taste and vapor.

When the coil and wick gets gunked just pull out the cotton, trash it, dry burn the coil and put in a new cotton wick—it takes about a minute or so. It's been my experience that micro coils are about as fast and easy as rebuilding gets, Micro coil videos.

Right. Lots to think about and thanks for all the responses. It seems lots of people like the PT2 and considering the low price, I think I'll go for a couple AND also an RBA. Then I can still get a good vape while I'm in the process of learining to get a decent coil going. PBusardo makes it look easy, but I bet I'll manage to scew it up a few times. :p

Well I got my first carto tank today (Boge f17) and I'm never going back to clearomizers. I enjoyed Boge cartos on their own before I started using clearos, I loved the taste but dripping and re-saturating the carto was annoying. I had great fun with clearos but after I got my itaste mvp 2.0 the other day, and tried the iclear 30 that came with it...I realized that those wicks alter the taste too much compared to cartos (whipped out an unused Boge carto and compared, that's when I was reawakened). Ordered a f17 tank and the new laser slotted cartos, and combined with the mvp at a healthy wattage I can't believe I ever used anything else. CLEAN taste, incredible throat hit, the warmth I was missing...and best of all consistent, fiddle-free vaping all day long! I filled the f17 early this afternoon and after a great day of gurgle free, moist vape hits i'm still going strong. Awesome for juice preservation compared to hungry clearos! I'm strictly carto tanks from here on out! That is, until I get my first dripping atty haha. But I recommend everyone try a carto tank at LEAST one time.

Strange revisiting this thread after so long. I must have really taken in the above advice, taking a vaping journey with the Protank II and then swapping to cartotanks (I'll stay firmly with them, I get a consistently outstanding vape from mine) and also getting the AGI RBA recommended above.

I have to say I was a noob when I got all the above advice and it went completely over my head, so I went on an independent vaping journey, arriving at exactly the same point you all advised me to. It's been a lot of fun. That AGI sure rocks with a 1.6ohm coil in it doesn't it? Loving my cartotanks and RBA.

Next: Kayfun Lite plus... :)
