So - Second question. Thanks for all the great advice on my last (few!)

I ordered the Volt branded KR808 battery from Smokeless Image.

When I vape, it seems like a lot of air and "vapor" passes through the gap between the battery and the carto. I get a better hit if I hold it Huka-style - i.e., using my hand to cover the gap between the batt and the carto. But, this makes the whole thing get hot.

Did I somehow assemble my little budd(ies) wrong or are they somehow defective? Am I going to blow up the battery if I cover the gap? Could I put a piece of electrical tape over the gap?

I guess whatever makes your experience better, that's the way to go. Can't hurt.

I know what you mean though, my 808s do the same. I think it's just how they are designed, since you will see there are a few slits between the cart and the battery. That's how the air gets in, so there'll always be a sensation of sucking air. The longer I use the cart, the worse the problem gets, so when it's too bad, it's time for a new cart.

My experience anyway.

Occasionally a carto will whistle - it's a narrow air channel and there could be a wire in there resonating or something. Live with it. Your next carto probably won't whistle, and in fact this one will probably stop whistling after being topped off some number of times.

If you mean the shusshhhhhh soft sizzle sound, you want that.

However, I do recommend you take the carto off the battery and make sure it hasn't leaked (especially if you have auto batteries since they can be damaged or killed by juice leaks). And you could take off the end cap (I use a plastic or delrin drip tip instead) and puff once into the threaded end of the carto with the open end down into a tissue - if any liquid is in the air channel causing noise that should get it out.
