I was talkin in the PIF chat room. Meka said EARTH QUAKE and we started to rock, rattle and roll here. Lasted about 30 seconds or so. Scared the beegeebies out of me.
Now a twister I know when to watch for one. But this earth quake thing they can have back in Cal.
What were you doing when we rocked? And what was you take on it?

I was sitting on the computer when I heard the roar and asked hubby what it was, he said it was just the power plant ( PSO ) letting off steam but when the house shook and my feet were vibrating I knew it wasn't the power plant, the dogs went nuts and I ran to the front door so I could hear better ( I'm deaf in one ear and going deaf in the other ), looked back at the TV and saw the news had a shaky picture, it scared the crap out of me, I tried to call my daughter in Tulsa but our cell phones had no service for a few minutes. I live in Oologah close to the big PSO plant so I was confused for a few seconds.

I agree.... California can keep their earthquakes but it makes you realize that life can change in an instant, it freaks me out cause it makes me think too much! lol

My wife and I were trying to catch up on our shows Saturday night. When the quake hit, we looked at each other and I said "feels like a low 5" she said "no, its more of a high 5" and I said "wanna bet?" Turns out we were both right! It reminded me of what I grew up with: I was late to school one day because I forgot to set my alarm, but a 5 woke me up. One time I was driving and a 5 hit and it took me a little while to realize why I couldn't drive straight. Another time, my family was having dinner at a restaurant and a five happened and my drink fell over. The wait staff just cleaned up the messes and kept on going. The scary ones are when you feel a light 3 something that only lasts less than 15 seconds, followed by another small one. Then seconds later a bigger one that's what really scares me cuz never know if that bigger one is really going to be the last one....

By the way, the 5.6 is about the strongest you would ever want to experience. Anything higher than that feels exponentially stronger. I remember being on leave back in the early 90s and I was visiting relatives in Los Angeles when a very strong one happened. Like I said earlier, there were a few little ones before the strong one. I thought was it. You could see the whole house sway like a wave going through the house plus violent shaking. Shake, shift, shake, shift. You could almost feel the cycle with this last one, but you'd have to know what to look for.

felt it pretty hard here in far nw okc late sat. hubby and I were standing in the kitchen chatting when the whole house rattled you could even hear the rumbling. well I said it felt like a quake n he said no it had to be a chopper flying terribly low. well I ran outside no chopper in sight anywhere. he still claimed it was a chopper lol. well the kids run out from their rooms screaming and scared. my 8 year old yelling "did you feel that"? who didn't lol. I worked sun and the first thing everyone was talking about was did you feel the quake, I kinda rubbed it in a bit when I told hubby I was right.

I never thought of a quake here especially as hard as it was for so far away. well now the kids have been through quake training and know what to do if the house starts rattling like that again. of course I can see my 8 yr old as serious as he is jumping under a table the next hard wind he hears rattle a window.

the 1st one ...
the dogs started barking 1st...
so Jeff (DH) was checking out back to see what was up...it shook the whole house ! I was standing in kitchen ...it shook all the glasses & bakers racks, everything clinking & clanging, the dining table sounded like it was jumping around banging on the floor ...very surreal.... Jeff was shining his light everywhere ,lookin' for the problem....it was loud.

the 2nd one ...we missed cuz we were down @ Winstar Casino seeing Dewight Yoakam ...but the kids were calling us ,telling is all about it  the 16 yr old was home alone ,while big sis was off getting pizza ...she said it was really loud....

So today/nights question is who's in the Storm path ??? Nothing like living in OKLAHOMA  It's just now starting to rock & roll here !!!

STAY SAFE EVERYONE !!!

come visit Oklahoma where we have tornadoes and earthquakes all in a single day lol
If it would have lasted longer I would have had a free back massage from the couch, like those beds you feed a quarter to and it vibrates.

all at the same time....and marta, your telling our age. i havent seen one of those beds in ages!!!

Twister Alley
Yesterday after noon we was coming down I-35 from Wichita. Right down that line of bad storms. We had rain going sideways on the highway and ran into 4 spots of hail. One the size of at least quarters. Got off I-35 and past Tonkawa and it was blue skies til home.
So yesterday was rain and flooding, hail, twisters, blue skies than an earth quake.
