Tagging "friends" is nothing more (imo) than tagging people you know. I've never asked permission from someone, and most are amenable to it when it comes to contests.

Only one time, in the many years I've been around here, have I ever seen someone say "Please don't tag me for contests."

Please feel free to ask any questions, Conductor, and have a great time here on the ECF! :)

@petrotech thank you.
Should I get the consent of a person to call him a friend?

As I understand it, putting an @ sign in front of someone's User Name will send them an Alert If they have alerts Turned On.

So if I do a Post and put @Conductor in it, you will be Notified. But if I just post Conductor, you will not. The @ sign also links the Profile Info to the User Name.

For something like a Contest, you might want to check with who you want to Tag. Just to make sure it is OK to do so.

Most people don't care about being Tagged. But someone might. You can tag me if you want. I'm one of those in the 1st Category.
