My wife and I bought two Green Smoke starter kits at the beginning of the year. We had both tried quitting several times before and both decided that we just liked smoking too darn much to just stop. The first week was kind of a smoke/vape mix. The second week we kind of gave up and went back to cigs. The third week I gave it another go and this time it stuck. A couple months after that I'd still sneak a real cig or two on the odd Friday/Saturday night when I was out drinking with friends. Now, I have to be pretty tanked before a cig even looks partially appealing. Haven't had one in a loooong time.

Perhaps the best advice I can give is two fold. First (as others have said) don't expect to stop on day one. Give yourself a little wiggle room or else the mental game might throw you. Second, take a little time to lean the correct way to draw on these e-cig things. There are some good starter posts in the InfoZone on this site, but the general idea is to take slow and steady draws. This helps with getting a good flavor, avoids buring the filler, and provides decent niccotine levels which will make transitioning away from the coffin nails easier.

Good luck!

Like many others, first Blu disposable I picked up I knew I was done with cigarettes. Early on I had a couple of lapses when I found myself out, alcohol was always involved, with a dead battery. The nasty ash trayed throat feeling reminded me how gross they were in comparison to vaping. Total of 3 cigarettes in the last nine months, but I really don't count those.. :)

Everyone's journey and expectations are different when entering the vaping world for lack of a better term.

That being said, yes, it reads I am an ECF senior member and veteran, I have been here a while. And yes, my signature line reads just those comparatively few days free of analogs. But every day posted there is a victory for me, every cigarette avoided is a battle that I won.

This is my third and hopefully successful last attempt to being an exclusive vaper. How I still do envy those who have not struggled, but many of us have, some more than others like me. This is for all those reading who I know who have that all too familiar thought "Why can't I be like that? What is wrong with me?".

What counts is we still keep picking ourselves up and trying to succeed after we fall. :)

I would recommend not setting any goals as absolute as quitting or not right away. It took time for you to become addicted to nicotine and all the rituals of smoking that go along with it. Vaping is much the same I have found. Just go at your own pace, whatever that may be. It really doesn't matter how quickly you end up at the finish line with this, just as long as you eventually do.

My pace is still taking it one day at a time, sometimes one craving at a time. I can't promise I will never, ever smoke again and I will not set myself up anymore for the tremendous guilt and disappointment with myself making such an absolute goal, but I have promised myself I will not smoke today.

We cannot change the past, nor direct the future absolutely, but the present is here for us to make out of it what we can.

Just my perspective from my experience, take it for what it is worth and good luck to everyone who is here struggling or not. Everyone here has made the important decision to try and make themselves more healthy. :)

I got my eGo C kit and 2 Twists. From the first day I went down to 6 cigs that day from a pack a day habit for almost 40 years. The second day for about four days, I went down to 5 cigs a day. That lasted a week. Slowly cut down to about 3 cigs a day. Ordered a Vivi Nova because I got tired of constantly filling up the cartridges that came with my kit. From the day I received my Nova, I haven't had a cig. Oh I take that back, I had a couple when I misjudged my juice order and didn't have anything that was vapable. 7 weeks now cig free. I still have almost a full carton of cigs in the wet bar fridge.

Finding the right setup and juice, for me, was the key. Hubby had suggested ecigs for me for when we travel. Neither of us thought this would be the success that it became. My plan was to slowly cut down until the carton was gone. :D It is still there. One day I will figure out who to donate it to. I kinda like thumbing my nose at them when I come across them ;)

Well I am one of the ones that continued to smoke for a short time. However, when I started vaping 5 weeks ago - it was not my intent to quit. I was just trying it mostly as an experiment to see if it would help me cut down from the PAD+ that I was smoking.

I have smoked for 46 years - I love smoking and the last time I "tried" to quit was 38 years ago. I had ordered an ePuffer Colibri because I wanted it to be like a real cigarette. I was surprized that I was able to go down to 3/4 analogs a day and then I found ECF. Started reading about all the experiences of others and what they were using.

I soon discovered that re-filling the cartomizers and charging batteries does get tiring. However, even though the juice I was using was not great - I did find that when I had a cigarette I was not enjoying it as much as vaping. I also realized that the nicotine strength was not high enough to take care of the cravings.

So I ordered 2 eGo Twists, some clearomizers and some better juice. At that time I was pretty much down to 1 analog a day and the day my eGo Twists arrived I decided I didn't even need that one anymore. So today is day 5 and I still can't believe that I am not smoking. I just took the last 5 packs of analogs that I have left and put them in the freezer. I think that as long as they are there I can continue down this healthier path and continue with my experiment.

I am so glad I found ECF - I really do think that the great advice as well as the support given here as we search out the best equipment and ejuice as well as the encouragement to just look at those you have not smoked makes such a huge difference. :vapor:

I didn't, and hadn't planned to. Been this route before, although this time I went serious.

Did the Chantix bit in early 2008.. Yep, it made me quit my Marlboro Reds.. but didn't stop the want.. But it also caused me to really dislike cigarette smoke! So I started smoking little Swisher Sweets Cherry cigars.. and slowly worked myself back up to 2 packs worth a day.. Just like I was with cigarettes, only stronger, harsher etc. etc..

Summer of 2009, I decided to try again. This time I ordered Blu. Problems right off were they just didn't have the taste or the strength I needed. They also caused me to cough my lungs out and no matter how long I tried, I could not get through half a day without having a smoke. So they sat in a drawer until this summer when I gave them to the wife to give to a friend of hers.. That person had no problems is has quit the Blu's as well as regular cigarettes.

This September, I knew I needed to try. I've smoked for 36 years with very little break. I've enjoyed smoking for the most part, but I never lost my sense of smell and I knew it stunk up my home and office, even if I never smoked in either place and I know it was killing my lungs.. So I ordered an eGo system along with some strong cherry cigar e-liquid. It all came in the day before my birthday and I dropped a full pack right off. I pushed through the coughing stage, but I saw problems coming, so ordered a Joye 510 system and even a couple disposables that I could soup up with my e-liquid.

In less than a month, I smoked my last Swisher Sweet! Added an eGo-C system to my stash and Dual coil carts and several e-liquids that have nothing to do with tobacco flavors. Even as I type this, I'm waiting for a delivery of a VV mod and 6ml DCT's. I've also moved my smoking habit into a Vaping hobby! I've not spent what I would have for tobacco and I've even gotten my wife into vaping.

Life, is good!

The Saturday that my Zmax arrived I screwed on a Vivi Nova and filled it. I have not used cigarettes since. I did as was suggested and tried a cigarette one month later and it made me sick to my stomach. I took about 1.5 drags off of it and put it out. I haven't had the urge for a cigarette and so vaping is my thing.

I first started a year or two ago with Blu and nearly all my attys died or didn't hit right so I gave up. At that time I still smoked here and there. About 8 months ago I started seeing larger mods, unaware of the "e-cig underground" I like to say. After trying my buddies device, what seemed to be an ego, I was satisfied and decided to stop by a local vape shop he always talked about. This introduced me to a lavatube starter kit along with that store's own atomizer and juice. I was very satisfied and had smoked 2 cigarettes the following day, down from my usual 10-15 or so. A few days later I tried smoking another and took about 2 hits and decided I couldn't finish. Since then I've never even craved a cigarette thanks to vaping. I now use a Provari and Vivi nova normally and love it.

As a 23 year menthol smoker I was still smoking even after getting my first cheap C2O ecig and my first 510T. Less, but still smoking. Now that I got into making my own juice, and found bigger rigs available, like my eGo 1300mah with Kanger T2, I have had my first analog free week in years. The hardest part was finding something in vapor that had as hard an inhale "bite" to it that my menthol analogs did. Now my ecigs can have an even harder bite if I like, though I admit that the actual way I vape now is different from the way I smoked. On an analog I would draw the smoke into my mouth and then inhale. On an ecig I inhale from the start.

Tried about a year and a half ago... bought a cigalike and it died in 2 days... bought a "better" one.. died in less than a week. Gave up on vaping (spent over 100 :( ) Then I did my homework reading forums here and researching every models pro's and cons for 2 months. Bought a Lavatube and went from 2 pk a day to 0 from the first day i got my Lavatube in the mail. Best decision I've made in years. Hindsight being 20/20 I would have just gotten a Provari V2. I have one now and use my Lavatube as backup. the LT is a good mod and works really well but the Provari is just.... "the best".

I was one of the lucky ones that was able to basically to just put down the analogs. I have been using the SI Volt equipment for 30-40 days now with 0 desire to go back. I have also gone from 18MG to 11MG in that time frame. I was lucky and did not go real crazy with buying new stuff and for my first mod I was able to get on the vamo co-op and into vw world directly and cheaply. I am still waiting on my vamo but for what I paid for it I am very excited. The best advice I can give the OP is dont set hard deadlines to yourself as it can only cause disappointment if you fail. FOr example at some point I want to quit vaping all together. I am not setting any time frame for this only cutting by my nic levels when feel I am ready. Not smoking analogs was the first goal and my body took to it well and it worked for me. I wish you the best of luck and welcome. You have a great support group here if you need them.
