Today my vaping got to a whole new level! Guess what I did? I built my first microcoil!! Let's just say I'm not such a spring chicken anymore, and the idea of fiddling with kanthal and torches, ohm's law, and teeny tiny screws was a teeny bit daunting. I am, however, a tinkerer. I love learning new stuff, and I love taking apart/putting together stuff. So in a way it was right up my alley. After getting all my equipment together, reading and watching tons of videos, I finally said okay, let's do this. I had snagged a Chi-triot from 101 Vape when they had them at 12.99, and I wasn't going for anything fancy. Well, it took me 2 hours and 3 tries, but I did it. I only did a single coil that came out at 2.1 ohms, and wicked it with organic cotton. It's vaping like nobody's business. I got some of my NT juices and...

The fruits, oh wow, they really come to life. I love Gravity but BG is really nice oh here. The Doodle is outrageous and even at 2.1 ohms I'm getting insane vapor. This opens a whole new world. I have a Russian 91 clone which is next on the list, but that one is hard without the holes in the posts. All of you posting about your rigs and coils and whatnot have really inspired me to keep trying on this. Not saying that to be cheesy, but for real, you know you're all enablers, and not just with the juice.

My hats off to you for getting outside your comfort zone. I always SMH when I see new vapers investing large sums of $$$ in hardware when, in all truth, they'd get better results from 100' of 28gu Kanthal, a bag of organic cotton balls, and a couple basic video tutorials demonstrating how to make a microcoil. It's so easy to do, and it gives you control over the most important variable in "the vape equation" = quality coils made consistently.

Congrats! Now, you're vaping.

Get yourself one of these, easy as pie:
Coils made easy t1

Thanks for the suggestion. I was able to get a coil winder from Darkzero from his last batch. I actually ended up just hand winding it on a large needle. That wasn't the hard part, installing it was. :D

I'm gonna have to agree with Flavored, get the coil winder. You know it spits out great coils when the guys at the local vape shop were like 'damn those are some good looking micros.' :D. Also, not sure how you're installing your coils but it helps to pre-torch them and keep them in your jig when mounting. On and congrats!

Thank you Yes, I have a coil winder. It works great, but I wanted something with a slightly bigger diameter to start with. Mine came with 2 jigs so I need to 1. practice more, and 2. play around with diameters and wraps. I have pretty much watched every video on youtube there is on coil building, so yeah, I pre-torch, then torch again to tighten up the coils. I kept it on the jig to install, one leg shorter then the other, etc. The pieces are just so small, and it takes coordination and practice to get it right. I know what I need to in theory, I just need lots and lots of practice. Tomorrow I'm tackling the Russian.

You go girl!!! Sounds like you're doing all the right things. You need to find a way that "works" for you and practice is the way to do it.
When you get the Russian going can you give me some tips? I haven't been able to get a consistent build on my clone yet.

Woo hoo! Am now vaping my Doodle in my Russian 91 clone! Used my winder this time and used the smaller jig. 9 wraps gave me a perfect 1.2 ohm microcoil. Again the hard part was securing the legs on those tiny screws but finally got it. Tweaked the position a little, used organic cotton balls, and viola! Filled it with Doodle, popped it on my Nemesis and yeah baby! No leaking no wicking issues. It's a miracle. The only downside is the throat hit with all that vapor is a little harsh and I'm already down to 6mg. But the flavor is superb. I'm really not usually one to toot my own horn, but I'm really proud of myself. In 2 two months and 11 days I've come a long way. :D

Proud of you dearie! You can adjust the TH on the Kayfun Style devices by raising or lowering the coil on the deck - (please forgive/correct me if I am wrong - higher off deck = more TH?

Oooh, didn't know that trick, will have to look into that. And thank you for your nice words! The huge clouds wouldn't be nearly as fun if they weren't Doodle-flavored. :p

I know how hesitant/intimidated you were about rebuilding a month ago or so - I was really pleased when I saw you just threw caution to the wind and took a chance. I'd rather have tried and failed than... <3
