Why are disposables looked so downly upon here?

The first e-cig that was able to wean me from cigarettes was the njoy disposable; however, I quickly figured out that at $8 a pop for the equivalent of about 6-8 cigarettes, it would cost me around $30 per day. I then tried a Greensmoke "cigalike" kit, but found myself constantly swapping batteries on and off the charger, and their cartos are proprietary (can't be refilled, other brand cartos don't fit their batteries) and expensive. They kept me off the cigarettes, but I only used them for a week or so before I ordered an eGo setup.

It's not really a matter of them being "looked down upon" - as SharonMM said, whatever keeps you off cigarettes is a good thing. It's more a matter of there being better alternatives available that are more dependable, more satisfying and less expensive in the long run. With that said, there are many ex-smokers who are perfectly satisfied and happily vaping away with their cigalike setup - and there's not one thing wrong with that.

Exactly.

I tried an Njoy to see if vaping was at all satisfying or if it was a total joke.
It was ok so I trucked to the mall and got a terribly overpriced Green Smoke kit.
I used that for about a week while I researched then trucked to the closest B&M the first chance I got.
I tried atomic fireball in a Vivi Nova tank on an eGo and knew vaping could really work for me.
I left there with a variable voltage ego, some tanks and an assortment of tasty ejuice.

I sold the Green Smoke kit for a small loss and got more eGos/juice.
Then started DIY.
Now I use Vamos with removable, rechargeble batteries.

Njoy disposable = $8 = > 2 weeks of my DIY = awesome

My wife tried my GS kit and wanted one so she got one.
I refill her "non-refillable" cartomizers with my DIY and she uses about 1 per day.
She quit smoking with me and vapes for about $2.50 month.
I vape much more but it still costs me less than $15 month.
2 days of smoking cost me more than I spend on juice per month.

Butterscotch, Peanut Butter, Strawberry Shortcake, Belgian Waffle, etc all taste better than Morleys ;)

I should tell you I'm a noob myself. Only been about a week and half. I started with disposables for about 5-6 days. I tried the enjoy, blu, fling. I don't think there was anything wrong with. I think of those blu was probably my favorite and smoke the least amount of "real" cigs with it. It just wasn't cost efficient for me. I was spending 9$-10$ a day and cigs are maybe 6$ for camels where I live. The blu one probably lasted the longest at 1.5 days. I smoked about a 1-1.5 packs a day but the blu disposables were $11 I think at my gas station.

If you are willing to wait you can get all of the disposables cheaper online and I've bought a few for backup purposes. I eventually went to the blu starter pack as 5 cartridges were I think $12.50 so a bit cheaper but still expensive. If you do some research on youtube you can figure out how to refill them with ejuice for really cheap. In my case I got a sampler pack of 10x3ml bottles for $25. Each bottle can maybe fill 4-5 cartridges? So approx $2.50 for 5 cartridges compared to 12.50. You can get that down to even cheaper if you buy a bigger bottle but I wanted to experiment with the flavors to find the one I want.

Do your homework. Some people don't like blu's starter kit some do some don't. As for me they serve the purpose of being cheap. Battery recharging is a bit of pain but it serves it's purpose of being portable and always having something on me if I need a little nicotine and it has reduced my cravings for real cigs to almost none.

That being said I do have an ego-c that should be arriving shortly. They are supposed to give off more vapor and give you a more realistic smoke. The battery blu's just don't give out much vapor and kind of pain to keep swapping batteries and refilling cartridges. I still plan on using my blu in car and at work desk because I really don't want a cloud of vapor at my desk and having everyone wondering what is going on.

I don't think anyone looks down on disposables but it seems to be a natural progression around here for people to start with disposables, work up to some e-cig starter kit for more vapor/cheapness and then eventually move to more professional vaporizer. In my case I think I went through the process a little quickly but I'm impatient.

Hope my noob vape experience helps you out a bit...but please do your own research on the starter kits and how to refill own carts. Money I think was my biggest concern at first. More vapor / less hassel was my second concern after starter kit.

As others have said I don't think anyone here looks down on them. I started several years back with V9's and though they didn't work for me they put the idea in my head that there might be a better way. A friend turned me on to ego twists and good juice haven't looked back since. Now I have several different devices (mods) and am starting to move into the hobby side of vaping

White Cloud Flings 10 for $30. Once in awhile I stock up and leave disposables around for emergencies or when necessary. I keep one in my pocket too as a backup.

As a primary thing I can see where disposables get flack but as a plan B its fine. I use them when I feel unsure about using a protank eGo setup and have brought it to music venues when I plan on moshing or feel unsure about security.

Also, if you ever get a bummer that wants one of your disposables, sell one for a few extra bucks.

All in all I feel that disposables have a function and purpose but not necessarily as your main go-to.

a few years back I started with v2 e-cigs and quit smoking for a few months. I then went back to analogs. I have now been off cigs for a few months and have not turned my head. If you are on a budget try the itaste svd or itasteMVP. Also a few other goodies on fasttech at a good price and free shipping! Always do your research though. Good luck and happy vaping. :vapor:

The Njoy King was the first ecig I tried, and it was gloriously wonderful. Except for the price, of course. $8 for one day's worth of puffing is balls. But it was a great way for me to try out this e-cig business without having to throw down a lot of money on something I would've potentially disliked. Since I liked that, I went ahead and threw down for a blu rechargeable.

Ordered another Njoy King (free with shipping, cos I wasn't throwing down another $8 for it), and gave it to my Mom. She loved it. Convinced dad it was awesome. Now they have rechargeable setups.

So they DEFINITELY have their place, and are wonderful things in their own little way. They're just not a very sustainable option is all.

Well wow guys, a lot of responses and a lot of good ones. Thanks.

And no, I'm not an analog cigarette smoker turning to e-cigarettes. I'm a new smoker period. And I think they'll be more people like this in the future...I'm young and my friends had some e-cigarrettes and a tried em and liked them.

Also I'm pretty weird in that I'm only smoking to help me at work. It eases my mind, gets me amped up, and before I know it it's 5 PM and it's time to go home. When I'm on it it's like i can just get into a zone of working and I don't think about goofing off or getting off-task.

I started with non-disposable cigalikes, and I still love them! Perfect for being stealthy at my school. :2cool: I'll be replacing my pretty little Halo G6s as soon as they die, and puffing away on my Tritons and eGos at home...and occasionally kidnapping the husband's iTaste MVP just because it.is.so.cool.

Disposables are awesome for helping people quit...but most people here quickly started the endless money pit of buying more stuff, so they have to be more frugal than disposables allow... lol These great people will all ultimately say the same thing: do what makes you happy!

I'm currently using the WC Flings. I think I've gone through the stages pretty fast. I tried my first e-cig last Saturday. It was a Blu, of course. I tried two more Fins over the course of the next couple of days and then decided I wanted to try more flavors. I found the WC Fling 10 for $29.95 dealio, ordered them Wednesday and they showdown up yesterday. Since I didn't know what I'd like I got 10 different flavors. I've been trying out five of them since yesterday afternoon.

I have the Vanilla, Expresso, Bad Apple, Atlantic Cut and Moscow Mule favors.

I thought I'd like Vanilla the best. It's good, but it's not vanilla-y enough for me, more like a vanilla cake batter taste than the Nilla wafer taste I'd like. The Expresso is wonderful, great coffee taste. Bad Apple is also good, it tastes like a Jolly Rancher candy. The real surprise for me has been the Atlantic Cut. At first I wasn't sure that I liked it, but it's grown on me. It has a kind of toasted coconut under note or taste that I'm really enjoying. Moscow Mule is just okay. It's supposed to be a ginger lime favor. But IMHO it has way too much ginger. Though maybe it would taste better if I was drinking an adult beverage and toking on it.

Oh, I forgot the next part of my smoke story. On Thursday, after much consideration (okay sheer minutes of consideration), I ordered the Halo G6 starter kit along with some extra empty cartomizers (sp) and the Exotic E-Juice sampler. All told it was $78 so I got the free shipping. That's supposed to be in my hot little hands by Monday or Tuesday.

I was also considering mixing my own e-juice so I've been browsing the supplies on RTS. Oh, who am I kidding. I had a cart full of $107 worth of nicotine, VG, PG, various flavoring, syringes, empty bottles and even a colored glass bottle for the nicotine when I decided it would have to wait for my next payday. I think I'm compulsive.

In my experience I did not enjoy the flavor(or lack there of) in disposables. Almost immediately went back to analogs. After picking up a ego starter kit the difference was night and day.

Pretty much the same for me. My first experience was with a handful of disposable Green Smokes ordered on a whim. Not having any idea about what to expect, I was impressed with the product; the vapor seemed much more similar to smoking than I'd anticipated, but it wasn't pleasant enough for me to seriously consider throwing away my analogs. For about a week, I used the Green smokes here and there as a smoking supplement rather than as a smoking replacement.

During that time, I grew less impressed with the product, which performed inconsistently. One of the disposables was a flat-out dud; it didn't fire at all, and all of them spat juice at me at one point or another.

But having said of all of that, I remain grateful to Green Smokes, because although their product wasn't good enough to get me to quit smoking, it was good enough to show me the potential of vaping. It made me interested. I came here, read voraciously for a couple of weeks, and finally ordered a bunch of hardware and juices from Halo.

And basically ever since that first Halo order arrived, smoking's become a distant memory. After 20 years of smoking 2 packs a day, the very idea that I'd fire up a cigarette suddenly seems alien, almost preposterous. I never imagined quitting could be so easy.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
I couldn't even use the disposables. They made me cough and I couldn't control the intake. I gave up immediately.

Got the Vision Spinner, however, and a whole new world was opened to me.

I'd never recommend disposables if something wants to quit. Too much failure rate and it could inhibit someone from trying something better.

A lot of people start to switch from analogs to vaping with disposables. Some people quit nicotine entirely with disposables. I switched over using disposables.

Probably the majority of smokers, who turned to vaping, had that first disposable that got them on the road to quitting stinkies.

I don't have anything "Bad" to say about disposables for the kind of product they are, and if they weren't around, I probably wouldn't have been able to quit smoking. I owe my health to them, kinda sounds stupid, but I wouldn't have been able to succeed for the last 10 months if I hadn't started with them. I smoked 33 years, Camel "Humps" and then Drum RYO. Tried several times to quit, stress and pressure sucked me back into smoking.

Price, consistency, taste, convenience, discretion, etc., they serve many different purposes. For me it was the ability to quit analogs. In my book that makes them a "Good" thing. *considering the gear and juice I have now, I'd never go back to disposables though!*;)

Too funny! I started with Njoy, WC flings quickly sunk $100 after serious research on here. Like you, I ordered the G6 and LOVE it! You won't be sorry. Of course I have an extra battery, portable charger so hopefully I'm done for a bit lol. May stay with this but may upgrade when this unit passes away. The Halo Ejuices are quite nice as well, good luck and let me know how you like it!
