Okay...so now that it's a bit calmer now.
Basically it comes down to what your time is worth. If you say your personal time is worth say $50.00 an hour and you spend at least a half hour modding your atty plus supply your own precision tools to do it there you go! You pay for services, plumber 75-100/hr, auto mechanic 100 p/hr, yourself ???? That about explains it.

As far as saving money of course you will always save money if you DIY.
Let me ask you, do you buy premade juices?? Example $15.95 fpr 30 ml?? Talking about MARKUP !!! You can make your own for .04 p/ml vs. .60 p/ml! Now that's a ripoff ! You can buy a few RM2s for the money you'd save by not buying premade juices and DIY.

Oh yeah lol I diy my juices its alot better and cheaper for sure

As a business owner myself I gotta understand that I myself used to take existing products and make them work for my original design

Sometimes it just makes more business logic to use a massed produced product

I really never thought that they were expensive but I also believe in paying someone for fine craftsmanship, their investment in equipment to do the job right and their time.

I am pretty mechanically inclined and my RM4 didn't work nearly as well (or look) as the one I purchased. My top cap is still around but I launched the base. Rob's moves the juice into the atty and wicks the balance out much better. The modifications look like they were manufactured more then a factor rebuild. :2c:

Don't worry about it valooper, you had question on your mind and asked it, no harm done. And if it makes you feel any better I've been wondering why woodvils go for so much in the classies. My jaw drops at some of the prices.

I think they just don't depreciate like everything else. I paid 182 for my last one, have not seen them priced much over that.

Holy cow!! Really?

I would turn it down again if the same offer was made today. And, I'm not surprised there are some people willing to pay that or more for one. If I didn't have one, (and assuming I realized just how nice they are if I didn't have one), I'd be willing to pay that to get one.

Rob does good work. - I didn't bat an eyelash at the price I paid for any of my 3 REOs nor either of my RM2s. Money has been tight the last couple of years or so, but I was completely willing to save up for a while to get an SL Grand and both a silver and brass RM2. -

And I'll tell ya': I've been throwing any spare change or extra few bucks I come across at my paypal account so I can send my VVW in for the "spa treatment". Whatever he charges me for refinishing, new button, etc is worth whatever he charges me. My VVW is going to be just like new again here in a few days.... and whatever the cost, I'll be glad to have it done.

i would have gladly paid 300 for that spalted. that was one of the most sought after Woodvils on sale night.

I understand that half of the equation very well! I was drooling! But if I had a woodvil up for sale I could not ask for that much, knowing what I paid for it.
