This is the strangest thread.
First there was smoking almost everywhere by almost everyone.
Next there was smoking in designated places only.
Next the smoking areas were moved to out of town.
Next there was no smoking allowed at all, not even in your own condo.
First there was vaping in the designated first old smoking areas.
Next there were vapers(?) yelling how rude that is.
Next there were ANTZ yelling to ban it from town.
All we want, is for the designated area to be put back where they belong, for everybody. That's what I want, anyway. Smoking areas, close by, vaping sections even closer. vaping is not smoke and the incredibly rude obnoxious paranoid fanatics still get 3/4 of the world. Give people their taxpayers land and rights back.
Nobody's demanding for to vape everywhere at anytime. Yet that's all we're hearing from the naysayers. I call foul.
By the way, I just want to clarify one thing about my post...The most important thing to fight for is to prevent vaping from being treated like smoking.
That one thing encompasses all the things you mention, and so much more.
Vaping is not smoking, and simply lumping vaping in with smoking restrictions is not right and it is not fair.
If you think it's fair, just wait until you get a ticket for vaping at the beach, or in a public park.
If you think it's fair, just wait until you have to exit the entire stadium to have a quick vape break during a football game.
If you think it's fair, just wait until you aren't allowed to vape in your own car in a parking lot.
If you think it's fair, just wait until they won't hire you because you have nicotine in your system.
sneezing and farting are (unfortunately) bodily functions that we really can't control,,,,,,,,,
vaping isn't a bodily function, you CAN control it, and you DO it because you are addicted to something that YOU CHOSE to become addicted to.
I really don't see how they are even CLOSELY comparative.
I said sneezing without covering your mouth, hence the control part of it.
And farts can be controlled. You could step outside and do that.
I know of people/friends who fart very rarely. I/we could learn from them, and thus better learn to control that bodily function. In a future reality, you better learn to do so or risk being kicked out of public places.
And with covering a sneeze, there is perhaps a proper way to cover it, while there may also be lame attempts at covering it. The lame attempts must be forbidden as, of course, those who don't cover at all.
It's not at all a matter of cowering my friend. It's a matter of being Ambassadors of the Vape. This means being ultra polite and well-spoken about our wonderful habit. It means teaching people about vaping with charm and intelligence, not forcing it on them or alienating them.
We are vaping at a very important time in history. We are the first - the entrepreneurs, the introduce-rs. The way we comport ourselves is going to be the catalyst to how vaping is viewed across the nations. And as such, the way we comport ourselves can save lives.
So I beg you - take it seriously. It's not just about me and my right to inhale luscious vapor. It's about millions upon millions of people who are addicted to tobacco... and their families and loved ones too. So let's take it slow and do it right.
Uhhhhhh you've never had a sneeze or a fart sneak out, uncontrolled?
sneezing and farting are not NEARLY as controllable as vaping.
That's okay, I can come up with 28 other things that are controllable.
But yes, I've had those things sneak out, doesn't make it any more right. We have to teach our young to control those things, so a whole other generation isn't loss to the extremely rude behaviors of the current, and uncivil, adult population. Won't anyone think of the children?

what's wrong with thinking of the children?
I get sick of that tossed around as a BAD thing.
Rationalization refers to the manufacture or invention of reasons for problem behavior that make it seem OK, at least in the addicts mind.
There is something we need to wait for. Studies. More than we currently have (which is few). We can then promote them and get real information (not Bastille-storming) out there.
We can't go storming on Washington saying "I feel like it!" and have them keep saying "There aren't enough studies saying vaping is safe." That will just go 'round in circles...and WILL result in worse banning than we're even envisioning now.
I think it is naive to not do the research that documents who has called for vaping to be banned and/or severely restricted, before making this statement. Members of only one party on the federal level and only one administration has tried to eliminate vaping. I wish that wasn't the case, but that is the way it is:
3 Democrat Senators urge FDA to "swiftly" propose regulation to apply Chapter IX of FSPTCA to e-cigarettes and other products..........
And then there is this monstrosity...

Nearly all of the legislation regarding "regulating" or "banning" electronic cigarettes has been initiated by Democrats.
I don't want to turn any of this into a partisan issue, but it already is.
It's not the government you have to win over. It is the media. Our government follows the popularity vote. In order for it to be popular, you need media outlets to spin it as a good thing.
Nope. Ex-military, toured with rock bands and laugh at stuff in Sons of Anarchy in ways that make people ask way too many questions.
Think about it.
What other group gets hated on so openly and vehemently? No one gets shunned or looked down on for hating smokers.
It's OK to hate smokers. Publicly. Loudly. Legislatively. They're the pressure valve for repressed hate.
Treat any other group in our society the same way. Report back what happens.
