OK I am fairly new to vaping and purchased a Provari a month ago. I am extremely happy with the Provari, the vapor, taste, VV, and tank options make this device incredible. I think the GG is a beautiful device, but it isn't VV. The Darwin seems like it would only be good for dripping. I was planning on getting a back up just in case something were to happen to my Provari and it needed to be sent in. I really wanted to try something new and the GG and Darwin seem to have a great following. Please explain why the GG and Darwin are worth the price tag.

My GGs will still be vaping juices looooong after your provaris/darwins/lavatubes will have melted their circuits :)

Oh,and its so shiney, well made and full of potential (modular) with an inventor that has an amazing mind and ideas for the futur.
When you look at it from every angles,a GG is NOT expensive.

Edit: GGs have LIFE warranty

GG big appeals are:

-Mechanical design, very little to break.
-Quality of manufacture.
-Aesthetics
-Odysseus/AFS/UFS/iAtty. A GG without one of these is kinda pointless.

Darwin:

-Variable wattage, no need to calculate Voltage/Resistance
-Built in passthrough
-Great dripping device. Darwin + DCA = Awesome!

The provari is a great device and I absolutely love mine, but a GG is very collectible and a beautiful device and a darwin definitely has its perks.

For a backup you might also want to look at the notcigs PVs, all variable voltage. Simple to use, rugged (though not all mechanical), up to 15W, good price. I've got their original Infinity, Buzz Pro, and the new VVPV is in the mail.

(provari, darwin, GG are also,.of course awesome PV)

I also have a provari so the glv and silver bullet set idle. The gg's and Darwin are neat but IMO they are too expensive and not even on my radar any longer. I still want to get a set of the smaller batteries for mine so I can try out the shorter version of my provari.

Let's be fair - a Satin Provari with the extension cap, 2 18650 batteries, multicharger, extended warranty is just under 250$ - which is pretty much the same price as a Darwin!

Definitely worth it, but just wanted to point that out - people always compare the list price of the Provari to the Darwin and think it's cheaper - but to bring it close to what you get for the price of a Darwin, you have to factor in the extra's that don't come with the Provari.

To be doubly fair... you don't really NEED the extension cap, and for experienced vapors, it's not inconcevable that they may already own 18490 or 18650 batteries and a charger, which they previously purchased for another device.

Adding the cost of batteries and a charger may be more fair, but again... you can always use most chargers for other batteries, and other devices. Not so with the Darwin.

(Not taking sides, in any case. The Darwin is a beautiful mod, that I'd love to own some day. however, you MUST pay the cost of the Darwin, while you COULD get just a basic ProVari, for $170, if you already own or don't need the extras)

Just sayin...

Right - my point is that to bring the Provari to a similar level of functionality (as far as battery life, warranty, etc) - you would need to purchase those extras for it to be comparable to a Darwin. Obviously if you already own a charger and batteries, you don't have to purchase them and can save about 40$. Which still puts you in the price range of a Darwin.

If you can afford a Provari, you can pretty much afford a Darwin.

People look at the Provape site and see 159.99 and look at a Darwin and see 240 - which isn't really an accurate way to look at it.

To be fair - I love my Provari and my Darwin and I'd never give up either! It is nice that if I wanted to get a second Provari and didn't mind sharing my stash of batteries, that I could get away with it for a lower price point though. One of these days I'll get a second one :)

Why? Here's another perspective -- It depends on you, your lifestyle and what you like.

Several months ago I decided I would prefer to try another mod rather than buy duplicates of the same one. No "one" is a back up. All are vaped on regularly -- but that's my style. I rotate mods. Some say that's good for the equipment, too.

Why go high end? For the same reasons you went with the Provari. No regrets, I bet.

Started with a basic 808 setup by Smoov. Worked great, but wanted a longer batt life. Upgraded to an Inferno, and life was great! Then decided to try VV, but cost was a concern, would I really like it. So I got a Lavatube and life got even Greater!

My GF still Vapes her Smoov and likes it. Easy, reliable and satisfys her.

Me it has become hobby to learn more and see if there is a better way to enjoy vaping.

The "why", sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you dont. It is about options, diff experiences.

I don't regret my Lavatube, for the price it is fantastic. Had I spent $200 and didn't like it I would be .......

I have ordered and waiting for a custom Power VV Grip by Sweet Vapes. I will be getting an Odysseus to use on it. Then later I will buy a GGTS. Eventually a Provari, GLV, Apex Alpha Ultrmax, and more.

WHY, so long as I spend less than I would have smoking, I am saving money and having fun! :) :) :)

Darwins are too expensive. Your paying for a few extra bells and whistles. For the price of a Darwin I can buy a netbook to power a new pass-through lol. Can the darwin connect to wifi? hehehe. When the darwin can vape and surf the web - then its worth the price of a netbook.

Anything thats vaping related has incredible profit margins. When I incredible, its crazy. If you go to Alibaba.com where most suppliers go to get their stuff from china - cheap the stuff really is. Im seriously considering opening an e-juice store here in NJ. Dekang juice, not the best juice bought in bulk is crazy cheap. You pay less then 80 cents per 10ml, bottled and labeled with your logo. Its stunning how much people pay suppliers, myself included. When you look at the Chinese feedback, it shows you the country the buyers are from, you see Americans buying boatloads of the stuff and reselling it here for 10x 20x the price.

I'm a true believer of you get what you pay for. I see some who buy cheap products and they end up upgrading in the end or that product has QC issues. So the way I figure it, I pay more upfront and I'll end up saving money at the end(not always true). So when I do have to buy something, I'll do the research and get me best one out in the market. Just the way I do business.
My wife in the other hand, total opposite of me. If she needs something, she'll look for the cheapest product in the market. Sometimes it works out for her, most of the time, it ends up breaking or she does not like it and get the more expensive version of that product.

PS.
I'm the kind of guy who likes shiny, big stuff. And the more gadgets it has I can play with, more happy I am!(Stuff I like, cost me $$$)

Personal tastes and personal needs. I have a GG stealth and an Odysseus with the full kit. I'm very happy with 3.7 v vaping, I love the fully mechanical nature of the GG and it's expected longevity. Once I mastered coil building, the Ody gives me a perfect vape, every time, no drama.
I like what I have, very much. It does everything I want, every time and will continue to for a long long time. There are lots of good mods out there for different people with different needs than mine, though and I think it's great. I love my GG...YMMV

I would buy a darwin in a heartbeat if they did away with the swingarm. Worst design ever.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The swing arm is among the top 3 reasons I like mine.

You get nearly 180 degrees of flexibility in how you hold the thing with the arm. Because it swings you can fine tune how you like to hold the thing, and how 'high' you need to lift it to vape. It's a great feature. I.E. If you're sitting at a desk, it's nice to be able to turn the arm 90 degrees and set the thing flat on the desk. Lift and vape with it out to the side a bit...it's a very short and natural motion. In contrast, if you're standing and walking around, extend it fully and barely lift your arm to vape. Love the flexibility it offers.

Makes it friendly to hold in either hand and offers more options in which fingers you use for button pushing. Darwin works great over or underhanded, and being able to point that atty different ways helps.

Screen is more visible with the arm.

Gives you a massive rock-steady-flat platform for running large tanks and keeping them upright, or for one handed dripping. Set the arm around 100 degrees...set Darwin on the car seat beside you with a loaded tank. It's gonna stay upright! Slam on breaks...if it falls off the seat...that baby is like a cat...lands on its back with the tank up every time ;)

Added safety with the arm...more than once it's prevented me from chipping a tooth or busting a lip when cursing down the road or crashing waves in the Gulf. Got it in your mouth and someone slaps ya on the back? No problem, the atty just swivels and absorbs the shock instead of smashing your drip tip into your teeth and through your pallet.

It would suck without the arm.

The main thing that sold me on Darwin was the battery setup.
It fits my lifestyle, as I live in a USB world. I don't have to mess with external batteries and chargers.

I don't miss messing with and carrying around chargers one bit...moved from stuff I was always having to maintain batteries and chargers to mods with a usb on board and love it. These things rock for driving and traveling!

Already have Darwin, and if I get another mod it'll either be more Darwins, or a PVVP from Notcigs (waiting to see if they have bugs to iron out before taking the plunge and getting one).

The only thing that bugged me about Darwin was the button. At first I found it a little tight. After about a week I got very used to it tho'...and now it's my favorite button of all.

Once we quit smoking cigs, we can pretty much afford any device we want. Form factor, battery life, charging realities, figure these all in in your decision (sounds like you are). Darwin's biggest strength to me is the regulated power and the form factor. Tubes don't work as well for me in my day-to-day vaping. The ability to crank it way up or way down becomes less exciting once we find where we like it (varies according to juice). Once you find that spot, you can put any atty/carto that you have on it, and it's the same.

If tubes work for you, for less money you can get Buzz/Infinity Pro. I think they are regulated devices as well, but have a less precise indicator of where you are. Again, once you get used to it, fancy readouts are not required, you dial it in so it tastes good for you!

My nic is from North Carolina, my juice is from my basement, and my PVs are from Ohio.
